Republic Green Chai

This is an extraordinary cup. A light to medium bodied green tea, ginger, cardamon, cinnamon, and almond. I like black chai with black pepper, but a chai without black pepper is really a sweet and savory drink. I served twelve ounces of this to my hard-working brother and he said “Mmm … you don’t say.”

I have the loose leaf version of this. I made this in a traditional chai preparation with brown sugar and skim milk. I am pleasantly surprised. The last tea I prepared this way was not great (Bengal Spice), which was obviously due to the tea I used. It was a bit labor intensive, but SO worth it. I suspect this would be good iced also.

Drink this straight all day when working. Can taste the cardamon & other flavor notes clearly. One of my favorites. #tea

I bought this not really knowing what to expect. It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment buy: I was really looking for RoT’s Honey Ginseng green tea, but couldn’t find that at the store I was in, so I got this instead. I really like green teas, and I really like chai, but the only chai teas I have ever had had a black tea base. So I really didn’t know what this might taste like. You can definitely smell the spices and the almond in this one from the bag before being steeped. Once steeped, you can taste the spices too, although the almond flavor is definitely less pronounced than I hoped it would be. That was a little bit unfortunate, in my opinion, since I do like almond flavors in my tea. Not a bad tea, but definitely not my favorite. It definitely wasn’t disappointing, however, and I would contemplate maybe buying it again, just to change things up once and a while.

This is a great chai and I do not normally like chai. Spicy but not overly spicy. The green tea is bitter and not smooth. This is a great afternoon tea!

I have a canister of this that I’m working my way through. It’s a nice chai alternative.
