149 Tasting Notes
I bought this tea a couple of years ago and just didn’t drink it. One or two cups, maybe. I just made up a cup and after the first sip I had an allergic reaction. Tongue burning and swelling, nasty taste on my tongue and a feeling my tongue was coated with something. Why do tea manufacturers insist on cheating on the ingredients and putting in chemicals? It also has licorice root, another “cheater ingredient.” Into the trash it goes (I will recycle the metal can). I will taste my other teas from Republic of Tea but i don’t expect much. Thank goodness I moved on to better quality tea.
Flavors: Artificial, Burnt, Chemical, Cloves, Licorice Root
I bought this about 2 years ago and stopped using it. I just made a cup. There is something in the flavor and aroma that I strongly dislike; it could be the green rooibos or it could be the licorice root. I try to avoid licorice root as chronic use can cause glycyrrhizin to accumulate in the body, according to some sources, and can cause elevated blood pressure and elevated cortisol levels. I’m not a medical researcher so I have no idea if that is true or not, but just disliking it is enough to toss it. I am now careful to not buy ANY tea with licorice root, because, that’s really a cop out in making the tea sweeter instead of using other more expensive ingredients to increase the flavor.
Flavors: Artificial, Burnt, Chemical
I sometimes have issues with high blood pressure. I really wish companies would let it sweeten our own tea however we choose, if we choose. I generally don’t sweeten mine.
I bought this tea a couple of years ago; I drank some, then stopped. I am going through my teas right now and ejecting those I really didn’t care for to make room for more. o give each tea a fair shot, I make 1-2 cups. I just made this one and it’s sitting next to me. There is an ingredient that I can smell that is making me nauseous, and I really wish I knew what it was so I didn’t ever buy it again. It says it is organic but has natural lemon flavoring. I will assume that what is bothering me is one of the herbs OR the green rooibos. At any rate, out it goes. Ugghh.
Flavors: Artificial, Chemical, Dry Grass
I recently found this tea where it had been forgotten for some time; fortunately it was in a Teavana zippered pouch. I’m drinking it as I write. It’s light, vegetal, grassy, and very refined. Even though it’s a few years old, it has held up well. And no artificial or “natural” flavorings in this one; just pure green tea. Lovely.
Flavors: Grass, Green, Vegetal
My husband found an envelope of this tucked away in the back of a cabinet. There was enough left for one cup of tea. This used to be my favorite of the Teavana black teas; I have moved on since that time. Now the black tea tastes a bit substandard (I now drink a lot of Rishi pu-erh) and the bergamot is light. Of course, this is a FINAL sip-down and the tea is old, even though it was in a zipper pouch. It’s really too bad Starbucks killed those stores.
Flavors: Bergamot, Dust
I am drinking Earl Grey Cream from Spice and Tea Exchange right now. It’s pretty yummy! I miss the smell of Teavana, all the teaware to look at, and the milk oolong that was always sitting on the warmer near the front.
