drank Turmeric Ginger by Rishi Tea
149 tasting notes

I drink this tea occasionally, mainly for medicinal uses. I play a LOT of tennis, and therefor have a lot of joint aches and occasional pains. I think turmeric does help but I have no empirical data. Anyway, this is a good tasting albeit strongly-flavored tea. But if it were weak, I wouldn’t drink it! I normally don’t like licorice root in tea, but it isn’t a dominant note here. I add a plant based cream to it (Nutpods Original from Publix is my current favorite) to make it smoother. Recommend.

Flavors: Ginger, Licorice Root, Turmeric

Ashman swears by turmeric, and a friend who was badly maimed in a dog attack and had extensive surgery does, too.

Good to know!

I just finished my tin of this tea that I bought a long time ago. It had a nice pineapple flavor, although I really didn’t taste the ginger. If you “upped” the flavor by adding a second sachet, it would get a little bitter (maybe that’s the age speaking). Anyway, I’m moving on from Republic of Tea.

Flavors: Pineapple

I just polished off the very last tea bag from the previous iteration of this tea, “Refreshing Mint Vital Energy.” It’s ok; not terribly offensive but not wowing anybody. An inexpensive black tea with mint.

Flavors: Dirt, Mint, Spearmint

Preparation
Boiling 6 min, 0 sec 10 OZ / 295 ML

drank Mango Lemonade by DAVIDsTEA

The overwhelming aroma from this tea is from pomelo skin, and the flavor is grapefruit. I like grapefruit and never add sugar to it, but this tea is no more than a “meh.” I let my husband try my cup of tea and he suggested a little bit of honey to improve the flavor. I normally do not consume added sugars, partly because I don’t care for sweets and partly because I am trying to control my blood glucose levels (and I eat a low-carb diet too). So I grabbed our bottle of lemon honey (which we accidentally bought thinking it was regular honey to use in baking and with oatmeal). A small amount improved the flavor tremendously! But I still don’t taste mango. Another review suggested that this might be better as an iced tea and I will keep it long enough to try it! But the best part is that this tea thankfully DOES NOT CONTAIN STEVIA! Stevia makes my tongue swell so I had to throw out a bunch of DavidsTea that I didn’t realize contained it. Stevia isn’t as harmless as manufacturers want you to think; some people are allergic to it. Wouldn’t buy again but will keep it for awhile.

Flavors: Artificial, Grapefruit

I have had this sealed tea bag for awhile and decided to finally have it. I picked it up at some hotel I’m sure, although I haven’t traveled extensively by air and stayed in good hotels for a few years. My travel was mainly by air between our homes in western Wisconsin and Atlanta, and now car travel between Wisconsin and Fort Myers. Very little chance of picking up a premium tea enroute now.

This tea has a delicate flavor of blackberry fruit and elderflowers. Distinctive though, with a natural sweetness. I may go to fruit teas for the evening when I want something sweet. As this tea required boiling water, I thought it had a black tea base and I made it in the morning. Instead, it’s an infusion.

I can’t find this tea for sale, but Taylors has a Blackberry Raspberry I will probably buy now.

Flavors: Blackberry, Elderflower

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 10 OZ / 295 ML

drank Sheng Pu'erh by DAVIDsTEA

This tea has an earthy tobacco flavor with a very forward astringency. Aroma and flavor remind me of the aroma of my father’s Holiday brand pipe tobacco in the 1970’s. A strong-flavored tea, I did not detect notes of caramel in the batch I received. As I am not overwhelmed by the flavor, I will continue to look for a Puerh I like better. This was the last of this 2 oz envelope and I will not be re-ordering. I don’t hate it, I just don’t like it very much.

Flavors: Astringent, Dust, Earth, Tobacco

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 4 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML

Would you like to try a few pu’er teas shared as gifts? That way you don’t have to spend any of your own money on something you might not like.

SJBP

Possibly! Sounds like a good idea.

Very average black tea, and an average or below average puerh tea by taste. Quite drinkable if you add a little oatmilk and collagen hydrolysate (collagen protein powder) to it. By itself, it’s a little rough. I had about half a dozen leftover tea bags from a box I bought a couple of years ago, so I thought I’d give it another try. Packaging is a paper tea bag envelope so that can’t have helped with the tea aging and oxidizing, but at least is recyclable. Not bad.

Flavors: Astringent, Bitter, Tannin

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML

I’ve had a handful of Triple Leaf teas over the years, one a few days ago even. I think this was one I drank several years before coming to Steepster. None of Triple Leaf’s teas are memorable in any way. Then again, they are marketed as medicine, not for taste and pleasure.

I used to drink them in college for medicinal purposes. For awhile, it was the only line of tea you could get locally in western Wiscosnin where I am during the summer. Fortunately there are now so many options online.

Really nice cocoa-flavored mushroom tea. Hits all of the health bases with Chaga, Cordyceps, Rhodiola, and Reishi. Also has Blue Lotus for deep dreaming. It’s a good and healthy mushroom tea.

Flavors: Cocoa

Preparation
Boiling 8 min or more 2 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML

This company has a lot of really interesting items! I’ll have to try an order from them at some point.

I love cranberries but two things turned me off: 1) When steeping, it smelled like chicory, but I think that was the dandelion root. 2) It was sour-bland. It just didn’t taste like cranberries.

Flavors: Sour, Straw

A very light oolong tea with floral and fruit flavors. I picked up this tea sachet on my many travels; sadly, the website for Waterfall Tea Company will not load in my browser, so I guess they are out of business. Ingredients are very good quality rendering an enjoyable cup of tea that is halfway between a black and a floral tisane. I teabag, 195 degrees F.

Flavors: Floral, Fruity
