15779 Tasting Notes
Cold brewed this last night to see how that brought out the flavours or didn’t. I think I like this better as a cold brew though this wont be a restock when it’s done. There’s a taste that seems to run through most of the tea emporiums teas that I’m not a fan of – similar to adagio’s gross black base. Drinkable but not enjoyable. Cold brewing at least you can taste more of the notes they were going for with this blend so that’s nice.
I think i figured out the trick to this matcha this morning. Add cheesecake matcha to it! Lol I discovered this morning that adding a bit of cheesecake matcha to the mocha matcha helps bring more creaminess to the mocha matcha and offset the strong coffee/chocolate taste. Totally digging this today :) go go morning matcha smoothie!
Haha I do like teh coffee taste but its….I dunno I can’t explain it its coffee but yet not. Adding the cheesecake to it makes it much more coffee/mocha like. It’s almost like the milk I use doesn’t give it quite enough creamy :)
Mmmm lot of cinnamon in this one so I’m going to have to play with it a bit more but I am digging this for fall. I’d like to try this as a latte too since I think the combination of teh spices would kick some ass.
One of these days I’d like to see Stacy do a caramel something sometif tea lol
Kinda of all over the place here….yes to this tea! It’s a good one :)
Canadians get shafted a lot on deals and contests so I was thinking doing something just for Canadians would be nice. Like maybe free shipping with $20 purchase or something. Still working it out.
Your shipping is already pretty reasonable :) free is always great! But I never feel bad paying your shipping rate 4$ is jokes :)
speaking of maple someone should make a maple sweet potato tea that would be tasty. I don’t think many people realize how good maple and sweet potatoes can be :D
Stacy was kind enough to send me a sample of the other grapefruit blend she was toying with. I’ve been holding on to the last of that sample so that I could do a comparision between that one and this dragonwell (i think this might be my first dragonwell). I know it was a tough call for stacy and after doing this, I can see why! I’ll say that for this tea, Stacy probably made the right call but i love them BOTH! The two are different enough that I’d actually have no problem with both in my cupboard. I made a few notes, though nothing too complicated since I’m still a little exausted from travelling.
Dragonwell
• Yellow colour
• Grapefruit smell is more subtle; green vegetal notes come through more; sweeter scent
• First sip… hints of grapefruit, they happen on the tail end of the sip
• Fruitier, almost juicier tasting tea
Guranese base
• Golden dark rich honey colour
• Smell is more intense
• Grapefruit rolls around in my mouth – “hello! Grapefruit!”
• The darker base adds a richness to the grapefruit
Regardless of the base, I am incredibly happy with Stacy’s take on grapefruit! I’m looking forward to trying this cold brewed and with just a touch of sugar added to the tea. I think this will be a fabulous cold tea as well as hot.
mmmmmm So I really like this tea! It won’t replace Laoshan black as one of my favorite straight blaccks but it’s pretty damn good! I asked Stacy for a sample of this to try out and see how it compares. I really enjoy the chocolate notes in this tea and the malty tones in it. I love the sweet honey notes in it. I really wish i had more of this now that my small sample is gone. Thanks for this Stacy!
Incendiare i like lasohan black better but I’m going to be picking this up from Stacy next order I think. I enjoyed this one a LOT! I love my interesting blacks :)
I have this and think it’s very, very good! Zhen Qu, Zhu Rong, Laoshan Black, Teavivre’s Black, Mi Lan Dancong Black …Yum!!! I keep these and I also love Stacy’s Congu Keemun.
The Dragon Pearls I get at my local Happy Lucky’s taste identical to the Teavivre’s, nice and malty cocoa. Adding an Assam, a Kenyan Strong Ajiri and some Darjeeling and Napal favorites and I’m happy! (We’re just talking Black Tea!)
So the official unchanged version of this finally made it to my doorstep and I have to say I am really digging it. I won’t replace Helena as the unofficial sponsor of this tea but it’s quite good with the lemon grass (sorry azz! lol) I can see this being my go to tea when i’m sick or have sort throat especially. I prefer a stronger tea to jump start me in the morning but this tea is going to be nice to have around. mmmmm
