I absolutely adore this tea! A new favorite, for sure! The combination of bright tangerine & sweet fig, plus a hint of creamy vanilla is absolutely divine!

Countdown to Catching Up, Part 2 – Tea 4 (Counting Down from 10 to 1!)

Wow! I am so thrilled about how good this is! I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect with it. I was just browsing the web for interesting recipes that included tangerine & fig, since I had just acquired both some dehydrated tangerines & some freeze-dried figs – so I wanted to utilize them in a tea.

The recipe that ultimately piqued my interest during my search was a Tangerine Fig Jam which incorporated tangerines, figs & vanilla bean. Hey, I can vibe with that ingredient list!

I wasn’t sure if I’d find that these two fruits would be compatible or not – but after taking my first sips of this tea, I can honestly say that these two are an absolute delight for my tastebuds! Then there is the vanilla! Oh wow! I am loving this tea!

Upon brewing it, I was greeted with a strong aroma of tangerine. It was absolutely divine & my mouth started watering immediately! As I waited (impatiently) for the tea to cool for the suggested 10 minute cooling period (seriously, it’s my own suggestion, I SHOULD be able to wait that long, amirite?) I worried momentarily about whether or not the fig would be present in the sip, since the aroma of the tangerine was so prominent.

The sip is strong with tangerine notes, but I’m happy to report that the fig also comes through, providing a background of fig-like jamminess that really plays nicely with the bright citrus notes of tangerine. The vanilla adds just a hint of something sweet & creamy to the cup, without taking over the cup. The richness of the black tea ties it all together, creating a truly sublime sipping experience. This blend is organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural!

organic ingredients: black tea, figs, tangerines, vanilla bean & natural flavors

to brew: I recommend shaking the pouch before measuring. I mince up those vanilla bean pods & the tiny beans inside tend to sift their way toward the bottom of the pouch because they’re SO tiny! To get some of that vanilla bean goodness in your cup, you want to make sure to properly incorporate the ingredients by giving the pouch a gentle shake (I hold the sealed pouch upside down & shake it like that to make sure all that is on the bottom will sift its way through the rest of the pouch.)

measure 3g of leaf to 12oz of freshly filtered water heated to 205°F, steep for 3 ½ minutes, strain & enjoy!

serving suggestion: I really like this tea hot, but since the warmer weather is approaching us, this tea is definitely good to cold-brew too! I find that a teensy bit of sugar will help enhance the overall cup, allowing some vanilla notes to emerge.

Another recently crafted tea. I was inspired to craft this one was a web search for something that would combine tangerine with figs & the recipe that caught my attention was one for a Tangerine Fig Jam with Vanilla. So, I decided to create a tea like that. (Even though I didn’t add the “vanilla” in the name, this one still has vanilla. I just figured I’d condense the name of the tea a bit so it fit better on the label.)

Anyway, this tea! I drank it hot this time, but this one would be really good as a cold-brew too, so I’ll have to try that soon. The tangerine & fig are really nice together: bright tangerine, sweet fig, bold black tea & the smooth, creamy note of vanilla ties it all together so well. Sweet but not cloying, just a very pleasant hot tea experience with this one!

I love fig flavor intea! This sounds like a great blend.

I also love fig flavor in tea (well, figs in general, but it’s really nice in tea specifically!)
