Lassi come home

If you’re a lover of Indian food, chances are you’ve had a taste of a Mango Lassi. If not, it’s time you got acquainted. It’s a deliciously creamy blend of fresh mango, yogurt and a hint of rosewater – just about the coolest, most satisfying drink around. And this rich, fruity blend is our homage to the classic. It blends sweet, succulent mango with creamy vanilla and a floral hint of honey-kissed Egyptian chamomile. Our advice? Try it as an iced latte…or blend it into your next smoothie.

Ingredients: Mango, chamomile, orange peel, vanilla bean, vanilla extract.

Wow this is soo good tonight! I steeped it for 7 minutes and added in some milk and honey..delicious! Comforting to the max! I am celebrating being done my course (part 1 of it, I might take part two starting in November lol) but for now I am free! So relaxing night is in order! See previous notes on this tea :)

Oh! This isn’t what I expected. I don’t know what I expected but… this is so good. It’s warm and juicy and it makes me think that I’m biting into soft mangos. I haven’t had mango lassi before so I can’t compare it to the real thing but I do love the creamy vanilla and orange notes that I’m getting in this. It’s like mango creamsicle.

This was a tea of the month, right? Because I might want more. This chamomile is nice too.

I’ll have to pick up some of Butiki’s Mango Lassi to compare. I wasn’t actually interested in this blend at all but it was convenient to grab this one, and now my curiousity is piqued!

oooooooh. sounds good! i picked up ceylon star & alpine punch there today :3

Ozli

they gave me a sample of that white chocolate frosting, too? it was pretty good but not buy-me good like currant affair…

TeaLady441

Well if you ever want more Ceylon Star, let me know! I have lots.

Also someone said that Alpine Punch tasted a little different this – more coconut flavour maybe? Anyway, I have 25g from last year so if you don’t like the new version we could trade!

The white chocolate frost is pretty good, but it’s no cocomint cream. Mmmmm. I still haven’t tried currant affair but I bought 20g!

Roswell Strange

One of the sales men at my local David’s store said that the blend was changed for Alpine Punch. They added black pepper and also upped the amount of coconut in the blend by a significant amount.

Fuzzy_Peachkin

I really enjoyed this one and I’m mad I didn’t pick up more of it.

Ozli

OK these alpine punch changes are completely intriguing! Gonna get around to trying that TODAY.

So, when I had this cold brewed I didn’t like it at all – and I blamed that on my general fickleness when it comes to mango/chamomile which are both key ingredients in this tisane. For that reason I left it unrated. However, I still have some of this left to play around with so today I decided that I’d try it hot instead of cold brewed (and possibly as a slushie, down the road).

Parameters: 1 1/2 tsp. of leaf in 10 oz. of boiling water, steeped for seven minutes.

Steeped up, it actually does smell ok: very strong mango smell with minimal chamomile. Taste wise, it’s ok – the chamomile isn’t overwhelming at all and the mango is creamy with some lovely vanilla notes. Surprisingly, this is significantly better hot. I mean, that said, I’m not going to buy anymore of it but I’m very happy I’ve figured out a way to drink it down without choking it down!

Also, I have another interview tomorrow! Although, it’s inconveniently located and a pretty shitty job – but despite that I’m hopeful because it’d be fulltime work. It’s really early in the morning so that means I’m gonna have to go to bed a lot earlier today than I’m accustomed to…

Stephanie

Good luck on your interview!

OMGsrsly

Good luck! It’s good to hear you’re landing interviews, at least. :)

Grr, I found a pot’s worth of this hiding away in the very back of the cupboard. And here I thought I was done with it.

Having no patience, I dumped the whole amount in a tiny tea bag and put in an even tinier tea cup for 4 min and 30 sec. Ok, this is high concentration actually pretty decent- very sweet and creamy. I think this is the best it’s ever been for me. Bumping up the rating a little.

Oh Mango Lassi, I oversteeped you too, and now you taste more like chamomile than my throat enjoys. Still lovely and delicious, and hopefully sleep-inducing, too.

I went to DAVID’s yesterday to buy “pumpkin spice”.They were out. So now I’m there, at the counter, thinking “them’s the breaks. How can walk away with no tea?” It would be a waste of trip. So I refilled my goji pop before someone decides it’s a summer drink and they pull it, got “read my lips” and then, against my better judgement, I got some of this too. I say against my better judgement because I don’t like chamomile. But I thought maybe it will be more mango than chamomile.

Also, I feel like I’m getting sick, my throat feels funny so I made this when I got home and went straight to bed with the mug. You know, it’s not too bad. If you don’t like chamomile it can be really scary to see a whole bunch of chamomile flowers in the dry leaf. However, I can say that mango comes first. I am still not going to restock this but at least it’s not awful and I can drink the 24g I got.

Brews really pale and the aroma is predominantly chamomile although the taste is mostly mango. Juicy mango, not the mango in “happy kombucha” or “mango madness” .

Hope you don’t get sick!

Dexter

LOL You really need to tell me these things. I was at the mall today, could have bought you some and tossed it in the package I just mailed. (How could they be out of pumpkin spice at this time of year?)

Nxtdoor

Thanks, stephanie.

Dexter — it was last night while at Jonathan’s so I didn’t get a chance to talk to you after that. But yeah, wtf, it’s DT’s fall lineup superstar, this pumpkin spice, how can they be out? I don’t want to order online and have to spend $50 for free shipping so I’ll have to wait.

Tealizzy

You mean pumpkin chai, right? I just ordered some online, justifying the $5 shipping by the fact that they send 3 free samples. I was getting worried they would be out, and I guess that worry was true!

Nxtdoor

Yah, pumpkin chai, you’re right, Tealizzy. Sorry!

Dry Leaf Nose: Ripe mango aroma with a very creamy note.

Liquor: Yellow/orange in colour. Clear and bright.

Flavour: One of the best mango teas we’ve ever experienced. The mango flavour is fresh, sweet succulent and very up front, with prominent notes of vanilla and cream.

Why can’t I find this on the website?

DAVIDsTEA

@Momof3: Hey there! It’s our September tea of the month.

Faith

So excited to try this one! I LOVE a good mango tea!

Momof3

Thank you.I was ordering tonight but wonder if I should just wait now.

Chintakiddy

Soo excited!!! I find that you guys do a great job with fruity teas. Can’t wait for your self-proclaimed “best” mango tea!!! :)

Gabriela

Is this a rooibos or a herbal?

Weird tea! It tastes like mango at first but then breaks down into a bunch of different flavors. The second flavor is strong citrus, most reminiscent of grapefruit. The third flavor is creamy. It must be the vanilla, but it really, really tastes like coconut. The chamomile is nice in this- not overwhelmingly grassy like some. Overall I do like this, but it doesn’t taste like mango after a while.

This is really good and refreshing, I don’t like it hot, but iced, it’s delicious. Mango, citrus, chamomile, and vanilla notes (in that order). I wasn’t expecting to like this one that much, but it is really decent.

I don’t think it is quite as good as Butiki’s version though.

Mmmm… this is yummy. It’s a brand new arrival to my cupboard and I’m glad I got it. Having not tried this before, I was taking a chance ordering 50 grams… but sometimes you just have to trust your gut, right?

Dry tea smells like mango and vanilla. Lovely aroma.

Once steeped I detect chamomile, mango and vanilla notes. Mango is the predominant flavour just like the name would suggest. I love mangos.

Overall, this is delish. :) Now I have pineapple tisane, mango tisane and if I only could find me something with pear in it… hmmm

boychik

I haven’t tried Davids version but Butiki’s is very real

Kamyria

Oh, then I should probably try Butiki’s version after I finish this one. :)
