This is pretty nice. The ginger and the gingerbread spices are really noticable, which is exactly what I wanted. And I love gingerbread.
Important to have a holiday themed tea today, as its Tree Day. My family has very few traditions, but this is one of them. We go and select our tree, and spend the day decorating it. We have a huge and impressive collection of ornaments, which we’ve collected on our travels.
I love tree day. Holiday teas ahoy!

caile

Enjoy your tree day!

Veronica

I enjoy tree day as much if not more than Christmas day. Hope your tree day is wonderful!!!

TeaBrat

I like this one too!

hmmm may have to add this to the list…sounds tasty!

Back from holidays. Nooooooo! My huge Eddie Bauer backpack, which was my carry-on, was basically filled with tea and desserts/chocolate. So sad. Plus Zen and Teavivre parcels were waiting for me when I got home. Long story short, my table is covered in tea and I swear my stash just doubled.

But I’m too lazy to review anything new. Thought I’d try this with some half and half I just picked up from the store. I like it this way the best, I think. Really pulls the spices together and tones down the sweetness. The cloves are the most prominent note, truly like in a spice cookie. Ginger and molasses are next.

Would I reorder? No, but it’s comforting on a rainy day.

Anna

It sounds like you need to follow Dex’ example and post pictures of your tea haul!

Fjellrev

I am SO going to to that in the next note. But don’t get your hopes up. It probably isn’t that much.

Anna

It looked awesome. Me and my OCD want to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the very systematic and symmetrical presentation of the loot in question.

Plunkybug

Still sounds yummy…

Tea of the morning here. It has been a rare Sunday of domesticity since I got up and made breakfast for the BF and I and then decided I wanted to make some banana bread, yum yum!

So this tea came in my last S&V order but I haven’t tried it until today. I was so sure I would like it that I bought 4 oz. of it.

I accidentally steeped it for 6 minutes because I forgot what I was doing, but it still seems really good to me. The spices are pretty strong here, I am getting a LOT if clove and ginger and cinnamon a bit lesser so. It might be different when I steep it for the recommended time. The tin contains pieces of broken up spice so this is not a "flavored’ Tea only, it’s a bit more like a chai. With all the health benefits of cinnamon, clove and ginger this will be a great one to sip on all winter long. Also smells really good. Maybe I’ll bake some gingerbread soon. ;)

Hooray! My first S&V tea does not disappoint!

Thank you Courtney for sending some of this my way! It is really a nice little tea. The spiced are prominent from the moment the liquid hits your lips. It is everything a gingerbread tea should be (DAVIDs, take note!). I would definitely stock up on this.

Yay! I’m glad this found a better home :)

OMGsrsly

Yes… I like this one too. :)

Courtney

OMGsrsly we should’ve arranged a swap! I’m out now, but I only had a couple cups of this before deciding it wasn’t for me. Maybe next time. :)

OMGsrsly

It’s fine, Courtney! I’m all swapped out right now. :) Besides, MissB is my local Tea Mule.. I could just order more if I wanted!

Holy. Moley.

This tea is GINGERBREAD.

Delicious without sugar or milk, even. The base is nice and strong, and a good backbone for the flavours, but it’s not bitter or too astringent.

Then I added some milk and a small bit of sugar, and OMG, it’s even better.

GINGERBREAD.

The flavouring is super duper strong, and I can definitely tell it’s flavoured, but somehow I just don’t care.

GINGERBREAD.

I’m drinking it out of a fancy tea cup, too. And setting up my new metallic red ereader, that I got by pre-spending Christmas money. Yep.

I think that this tea needs to air out for a week or two for optimum breadiness.

Thank you SO MUCH, MissB, for functioning as a tea mule. It was lovely to meet you today (we need to go have tea!), and I really appreciate the work you put in to organize all this!

I’m so excited for my order to arrive from MissB too. Eeee!

Fjellrev

That is AWESOME because I have some waiting for me at my mom’s.

OMGsrsly

Second steep is good too. I got 2 cloves in my tsp so it’s a little clovey, but if you keep an eye on that you can mitigate the overpowering effects. :)

JustJames

this sounds EXCELLENT. reading this made me happier.

OMGsrsly

Did you get some too? Or did you want some? Or has MissB already packaged some up for you? Also… when are you meeting up next week because I want to come over and see everyone?!

MissB

Heh. The Simpson & Vail stuff – all of it – smells delicious. My kitchen smells like I’ve been baking and making candy all day! I have a huge box here for JustJames, and blanking out if there’s any Gingerbread in there for him… if there isn’t, I’ll put some in.

Sil

yeah only downside to S&V teas – they are SUER strong smelling and will contaminate your other teas in swaps…just be careful of that hahaha

OMGsrsly

Tin foil, Sil. Not just for hats anymore. ;)

Sil

..or windows heh

Yeah just fair warning. I know with our order from ages aago it made my whole house smell…had to lock them down in tins and containers heh

OMGsrsly

I’ve already transferred one into a tin, and am emptying another tin today for the other. :) I only got two, and I’m so pleased with them!

Courtney

Is tin foil the trick? I had to remove the Apple Cinnamon Coffeecake from my cupboard for fear it would “infect” my other teas.

OMGsrsly

If you can’t get hold of odour proof bags, or use tins, then yes. Tin foil works really well. Try to get the thicker stuff or it rips super easily.

Sil

yes tinfoil is great! it’s how i wrap my matcha swaps now…inside a bag then bag into tin foil :)

Fjellrev

Ooh, thanks for the warning, OMG. I love cloves anyway but it sounds like this one is balanced with other stuff too. Don’t want pickled beets in your tea. :p

My mom commented that the parcel was quite strongly scented, especially the root beer. Tinfoil it is!

MissB

Root beer is probably the most strongly scented one, that I can tell. The (beautiful!) paper bags don’t do a good job of keeping the smell contained, however after having my stuff here next to me for a day or two now, I’ve noticed the smells have dissipated. I will however have to pack these all up well in tins and whatnot. Already thinking of ordering more, especially the candy cane, which is just available for a limited time.

WOW!!!! This is marvy! I was thinking it was going to be like a chai but the spices are there but mesh differently to make sure it’s more of a gingerbread than a chai, I guess. I’m not sure how but it does! And I’m glad it does! It has a bready/cookie type taste with all the right spices! This stands by it’s name and description from S&V and I really like this! YUMMO!

Bonnie

Tell Hallmark to use that as a title next year because they’re running out of ideas! Have a Marvy Christmas!

Mmmm. Thank you MissB for giving me some of this! The first cup was unremarkable, but I added a dash of millk to the second and now I am enjoying this!

I haven’t really had any Gingerbread black teas (that I know of?) but this is much better than the Rooibos I had from DT.

Thank you for letting me try it! :D I would definitely drink more of this so long as I can add a little milk to it!

Having this for the 2nd time-it was a sample that was sent with my order last fall. Very nice balance of flavors, different than a Chai, and well suited to a coolish winter day. I had it with a little stevia, without milk, and am really enjoying it today. It makes a delicious dessert tea. I would order this again.

This was a wonderful way to kick off our Thanksgiving break! After we dialed in the perfect match of tea and time for us (1.5tsp/8oz for 3min) I was amazed at the balance and creaminess.

The taste of this tea actually hit me in stages: first came the slight smokiness of the cloves and black base, then the cinnamon and an almost pumpkin-pie creaminess. Finally, all the notes combined to create a real gingerbread cookie flavor in the aftertaste.

This is one I wouldn’t mind keeping in the cupboard full time!

Another sample from MissB! Thanks again!

This tea smells very clovey, but not in a hot-cinnamon-spice way, more like whole cloves, which of course there are many of in this blend. As it cools more, I’m getting a more balanced spiciness. I do get a sense of gingerbread from this, which is nice. A very spicy gingerbread, haha. I will say that the base is a little thin; a common problem with flavored dessert teas. Overall pretty tasty, and I’m glad I got a chance to try it out.
