Mango and Bergamot Loose Tea is a sophisticated aromatic green tea blend, perfect for an afternoon indulgence.

Green Sencha tea leaves are used as the base of this blend. Originally from Japan, the leaves are picked in early spring and steamed and rolled to keep their colour and verdant herb-like taste. They have been combined here with petals and the flavour of mango, lulo and a gentle hint of bergamot to create a decadent and delicious blend.

Mango and Bergamot is a flavour-packed naturally sweet green tea that does not need milk or sugar.

Love the aroma of this tea, it’s very fragrant and tropical. I get this really lush juicy aroma of mango and passion fruit, but there’s also something starchy about this tea that I don’t think anyone else has picked up on from the tasting notes I’ve read. It’s just a vague hint of sticky rice but it works so well. You have to really stick your nose in the cup to find it.

The flavour is also delicious, even though I slightly over-brewed it. I’ve had this tea many times, so I know what it’s capable of delivering when I get the timing just right. The green tea isn’t anything to shout about, it’s the fruity flavour with citrus kick that’s the highlight of this tea.

There’s a chemical/nail varnish tang that I’ve noticed as well – it’s not ruining the cup but I can’t ignore it either. It’s happened before when brewing these tea bags but not when brewing the loose leaf version. It’s still a good tea so I’ve rated it as such.

I also adore the new tea discoveries caddy it’s available in, so pretty.

OK, I admit it : I love the “revisited” packaging of these Whittard tea bags! As I really love bergamot flavoured teas, this might have been a sure bet, although I´m not too fond of fruit (flavoured) infusions, and green teas very often have a grassy taste I cannot appreciate…let´s have a taste. I brewed the tea bag as indicated on the box (infuse for 2-3 minutes with water heated to 80ºC), and I must say it´s quite a nice surprise : aromatically the mango dominates, but not overly so, while one notes the green backbone in the just degree and the mouthfeel is definitely bergamot, to satisfy Earl Grey lovers as myself. As far as I´m concerned, this tea suits me more than most of the green earl grey teas I´ve tried so far…maybe the mango addition makes it work after all!

I find this tea to be very relaxing and i love the flavours. Bergmot in general i love in tea, its just a great taste for me. You will always find this tea in my cupboard. It has a really light fruity taste. I can drink quite a lot of this tea and would recommend giving it ago

Today’s work cold brew. I wasn’t entirely sure how this one would work out, particularly with the bergamot, but I was lazy last night and this was pretty much the only tea to hand, so it was a decision by default. I used 3 bags in 2 litres of water, into the fridge for 10 hours overnight. It’s not too bad. There’s a slight bitterness/borderline astringency that I think is a combination of the green tea and bergamot. It’s not actively unpleasant, but I wouldn’t want either element to be any more prominent. The mango is good, and kind of saves it. It’s slightly peppery, juicy, and pretty flavour accurate. I do wonder at the kind of mind that decided bergamot and mango would be a good combination, but that’s probably why I work in an office rather than an exciting, imaginative job.

I think I’m probably going to prefer this one brewed hot, and I have a couple of bags left so I can try that once the weather turns cooler. This is what I get for being lazy, though. It’s not bad, but I think on balance I probably wouldn’t cold brew it again.

So my wife makes me a cup of this and my first response is “Wow that’s really green!”

Maybe because it’s a green and not black as I was, for some reason, expecting.

This was delicious! But if there was bergamot in it I could barely taste it. The mango was the dominant taste, but it didn’t completely drown the green. The green had a faintly toasted flavour to it, not too strong. Worked well together. Very calming cup for something caffeinated.

Coldbrewed, this lost even more of the bergamot flavor, which is fine by me! It’s a light mango green, which is very good and will keep me company if summer ever comes!
