127 Tasting Notes
Dutch tea at work…literally as I’m in the Netherlands and at work. I don’t have much to say about the tea itself, it’s not my favourite even though I usually love spiced teas. The bitter tea kind of overshadows the subtleties of speculaaskruiden. Its better when sweetened, but… Meh.
Flavors: Astringent, Nutmeg
I can’t find this tea anywhere except my mother’s cupboard, we took it home from holiday and it frustrates me to no end because I love it. It’s got a rich fruity flavour but somehow undertones of something spicy, cinnamon maybe.
I dug deep and found nothing, but that slivkovy means plum in Slovac. Ebay had a couple of Lord Nelson teas but nit that one. I hope you find it.
So, my mother only really drinks green tea, so going over I had the choice of… green tea. This one is not my favourite, it’s weirdly stale? the strawberry is definitely present, but not, well, good. it’s pretty artificial and overshadowed by the green tea. I did not notice the lemongrass at all.
Preparation
Got this custom blend at Broodnodig today while in Utrecht with a friend. A really nice warming blend, fruity and sweet but packs a real ginger heat. I don’t know if leaving the ginger and cinnamon on the bottom was the best idea, as it meant it got more and more gingery the further into the glass I got… But I’d definitely order this again
Flavors: Fruity, Ginger
“want some tea? I got a whole bunch of new ones” got to be one of my favourite tea related sentences to hear from international friends.
This fruity tea from Slovakia is absolutely stunning.I slightly oversweetened it, but it’s like drinking a warm berry juice. The rosehip takes the forefront in a warming fashion with the elderberry giving a delicate kick in the back. I love it!
Flavors: Berry, Elderflower, Fruity, Rosehips, Sweet
Preparation
This is a great tea. The problem is my flatmate agrees and therefore there wasn’t much left when i got home from summer holidays and i’ve been savoring the last spoonful (I’m kidding, my flatmate is a great guy and i’m happy to share tea with him)
it’s a lovely tea though, with a nice blend of floral notes and spices. I love both those things and they’re well balanced in this tea.
Preparation
One of those teas you cannot avoid when living in the UK for any extended amount of time. I got it in a food hall. People often seem to rave about this one but I wasn’t terribly impressed, like aye, it’s a decent tea. It kinda reminds me of the teas that get sold as “english blend” back in the Netherlands, but altogether it did not strike me as particularly special. WIll drink again, will not buy for myself.
