Delicious. Vibrant colour. Aromas are in the nutty spectrum. Has that fine balance between savory and sweet, finishing clean.

Neutral profile. Decent balance but not exciting at all.
Price: $13.50 for 100g.

Found this very mediocre. Mild, simple and no depth at all. Not offensive but just not very good for my taste.

Price: $39 for 113g
Sweet nutty aromas. A delicate sweetness and a touch of spice on the palate – lovely depth, balance and carry.
One of my favourite green teas this year – top shelf Asamushi.
Price: $20.25 for 100g.

Very nice, really enjoyable. Good punch and depth – fair bit of sweetness. Aromas very attractive.
Price: $15.50 for 56g.

Not bad, fairly neutral profile. Only lasted three steeps.
Price: $11.50 for 56g.

Very black pepper driven on the nose and palate. Earthy flavours abound.
Would like to try more of this type of tea to see if I can come to understand it.
Found the brewing directions of 3-5 minutes at boiling to be best at the 3 minute mark, as the astringency becomes a bit too much for my taste after that point.
2010 Shincha Version – personally preferred the Sae Midori from the same vendor, but this was excellent too. Striking purity.
Buy Again: Probably
2010 version. Excellently lifted, fresh aromas. Palate is quite light, but has good carry.
Price: $33 for 100g.
Buy Again: Probably not, it is very good, but there are lots of others to try.
2010 version. Fresh & clean, grassy flavours. Right in the middle quality wise.
Price: $20 for 100g.
Buy again: Probably not – decent value though.
Delicate and fresh but a bit too simple on the palate. There is an interesting honey type note on the nose in addition to the fresh grass.
I like it and I am happy that I tried it, but I don’t feel the need to revisit it in the near future.
Tried the 2010 version of this. Well balanced, forgiving of brewing variance. Good value for money but prefer the Takumi Shincha from this vendor.
Tried the 2010 Shincha version of this and I’m shocked. It is sensational. Total contrast to the regular 2009 harvest tea I thought was mediocre earlier. Not sure if 2010 is just a better harvest or if the Shincha version shines.
2010 Shincha version. Good, nice richness and umami. Didn’t really think it had the depth/complexity I’d want at the price they are asking though ($21 for 50g).
2010 Shincha. Light grass notes. Not enough palate depth for my liking. I think it is good quality, but not really my style.
Price Paid: $12 US per 50g.
Buy Again: Probably not
Tried the 2010 Shincha version of this. Quite enjoyable, displays a rounded flavour profile with some nutty elements. Fairly simple but nicely refreshing.
Price: $9USD for 50grams
Buy again: Maybe
Great complexity and has a very interesting coffee and dark chocolate note in the background that really appealed to me. Good balance and length on the palate.
Price: $6.49 for 30g.

Nice sweetness and vegetable character. Not a great deal of intensity, just some restrained sweet and grassy flavour notes. Good but not especially memorable.
Buy Again: Probably not
2010 version: Quite strong (and interesting) roast green bean, spinach and seaweed elements here. Good lift, remains fresh even with the strength of flavour and aroma.
Price: $19.75 for 56g
Buy Again: Maybe
A tier below the Maeda-en 88th Night 2010 Shincha in enjoyment. It has less complexity and depth and less elements of interest overall. Still nice to drink, but definitely prefer the 88th Night. I think this might get boring quickly with a larger sample as well.
Price: $10 USD for 85g.

Well rounded mouthfeel with a nice kick of sweetness. Very good, but doesn’t quite live up to some of my other favourite Shinchas from 2010.
Price: $20 USD for 85g
Buy again: Maybe
I thought it displayed excellent flavour purity, lifted fresh aromas and great balance on the palate. Really refreshing as well. One of my favourite Shinchas in 2010, just behind the O-Cha Sae Midori.
Price: $18 USD for 100g

Tried the 2010 Shincha version of this tea.
Vibrant colour. Fresh, lifted grass aromas and flavour. Great depth and texturally interesting. Beautiful tea, one of my favourite 2010 Shinchas.
Price paid: $25 USD for 100g
