Mastress Alita’s Monthly Sipdown Challenge
May 2022 → An herbal tea

I’m switching to no caffeine for the night, so I thought I’d have a feel good/good for me tea. I’m not sure I’ve had this one before, but I was expecting it to be much darker than it is because of the dandelion. It’s very light in color and somewhat light in flavor, though what flavor there is reminds me of dirt. I added some honey and the juice of half a lemon. The honey didn’t do much aside from making it taste like sweet dirt, but the lemon helped exponentially. Probably because it basically overwhelmed all the other flavors.

Reviews on Amazon suggest this blend has helped a lot of people feel better, so I can tolerate the flavor if it helps on sluggish days. I’m guessing multiple cups are needed to see any sort of positive result though, and I’m not sure I want to be drinking this daily.

I laughed so hard! I have never had dandelion tea. I like shu puerh so maybe I would like it, dirt flavor and all.

Shae

Maybe so! I’ve had dandelion teas that I like but this one was watery and not great. The ones I’ve enjoyed were darker and fuller in flavor. I like shu puerh too but maybe I haven’t had an earthy one? I’m certainly no expert on those though.

New tea drinker. This was the first cup in my journey. Was not mind blowing, but relaxing and pleasant.

This tea has a mild flavor with a nice hint of mint to round it off. I felt no need to add milk or sweeteners to it, though one could.

Nothing amazing, but not a letdown either. I would drink it again.

I call this my “sleepy tea”. This is my second box of this tea. I don’t drink it that often, usually only when I need a bit of help to go to sleep or relax. It is very light and smooth. Has a nice aftertaste as well.

I thought the same thing as John…Pu-erh at Walmart….Awesome. I open up the box make a cup while on the air….and not so awesome. It’s pretty weak from the quality of tea to the quality of flavor. For about 3 bucks it’s not bad but I like a good full bodied tea and if it’s chai then I think there should be more balance of Cinnamon, cardamon, and ginger. This one’s just meh for me.

Regular tea & coffee grocery aisle? (I’ll have to check locally to see if the selection has improved.)

How funny that pu-erh ascended from total obscurity to the shelves of Wallmart in such a short period of time!

Oh wow Puerh at Walmart!!! Upon seeing Puerh at Walmart today I could not resist getting some to try even though I have low hopes for it given that I tend to be more traditional when it comes to tea. This one is lighter than I expected but that may have been due to brewing it in a glass mug. The spices are not too strong which is nice if you drink it plain, overall not bad but also one that I will not buy again.

This is a good tea to satisfy a wintertime snack craving. It’s snowing today, so naturally, my body wants to go into hibernation mode. This means that I end up jonesing for extra calories, even if I’m not necessarily hungry. So, instead of reaching for chips or stealing my housemate’s peppermint patties (okay, okay, I nicked three of them. What do you want from me? She left them sitting out on the bar!) I decided to make a cup of this.

It worked. I feel a little better now. This tea has light spices, which I appreciate (chai spices can so easily be overdone!) and the pu-erh/ black tea base plays nicely with them, and adds an earthy sweetness that makes for a very satisfying cup.

Plus, aside from the three pilfered mint patties, I have been good diet-wise today, and that feels good. Any tea that helps me feel this way is a friend to me!

Mmmmmmm, delicious! This tea is so sweet and earthy. I love it! It was absolutely perfect with my morning cereal.

The spices in this are perfect. Not too cinnamon-y, not too bland. Chai spices work well with the rooibos and pu-erh bases.

My first foray into the world of pu-erh! This is lovely. It has an earthy quality and smell to it, but at the same time is very sweet and very fragrant. No milk or sugar needed! The rooibos is there, but takes a bit of a backseat to the cloves and cinnamon. Very nice! This tea is ideal for helping me lose my post-holiday weight. Also- it’s certified organic! A+ for Lifestyle Awareness teas.
