I’m T.C. (yes I actually go by my initials out in the real world) and I’m out in the rainy Pacific Northwest. I’m a lover of nature and being out in it. Perfect way to spend a summer day for me is with a dirt trail at my feet and a pack on my back.

Just got hooked on teas a few months ago. One of my Asian friends kept offering me tea when we went to her place. I’d always thought “tea” was just tea….you know…that brown junk in a bag you put in boiling water? I’d tried that years ago and it tasted like crap soo…..
Anyway, she had a ton of loose leaf teas (said her Asian genes made it a requirement lol) and got me hooked on chai’s and green tea.

Now, a few months later, my tea stash puts hers to shame and I can’t seem to stop buying the stuff. I’m still in the “exploring” stage and just want to try any and every tea on the market. So all that leads me here to all you other tea addicts…I don’t feel so “tea crazed” when I’m chatting here with the rest of the gang.

I just joined Steepster after recently discovering loose leaf tea. It all started with a Christmas gift swap at work. When I unwrapped my package, it contained a set of teacups and three little tins of tea. They smelled delicious, so I immediately bought a tea ball so I could try them out. Less than two months (and many tea and accessory purchases) later and I am hooked! Sadly, my friends and family don’t understand this new hobby (obsession), so I was super excited when I discovered Steepster. There are others like me out there! I’m looking forward to learning more about tea and meeting some fellow tea addicts, er, enthusiasts ;)

Didn’t know this was a thread. Well I’m Art, senior in college (graduating in may). I started drinking Brazilian mate for studying when I was a freshman, and kinda got hooked. I got to be known around campus for “tea dates”- whenever someone’s having a bad day they end up in my room for a mug of tea and an encouraging chat.

I got really into tea because of the tea dates. Something about a hot mug of tea makes people so much more comfortable, so I had people who I had only known for a day or two tell me their entire life story because I put a mug in their hands and became a listening ear.

I tried loose leaf in August and could never go back.. Over the summer I was working at a church in New Jersey that was a block from the train station, and after work I would pay $2 to take a 30 minute train ride into Greenwhich Village to the DAVIDSTEA. Then I discovered the Harney and Sons shop in Soho which became my favorite thanks to their low prices and free samples. Sundays I’ll usually take a group from the church into soho just so we can have a group tea tasting.

Steepster has been awesome, especially because of the swaps and the fact that y’all share when there’s sales.

I love to read, CS Lewis is my favorite, and I love working with students.

health issues (high blood pressure & kidney failure) forced me to give up my coffee addiction (over 12 cups daily). and go back on tea, my childhood addiction. I quit drinking tea when i went away to university.

At 44, i am now back on teas and cannot see myself drinking anything else.
My taste is quite ‘set’, I tried almost every Chinese green tea in the book, but have to admit my true love lies with Japanese green teas for good. :)
Call me a tea snob, as i prefer and mostly drink high grade gyokuro tea.
I recently placed a rather large tea order with Teavivre for Chinese black teas that i would to try. I can’t wait. My order ships after the Chinese new year holidays.
i stumbled upon steepster by accident, but have come back reguraly to read your reviews. i hope to add a few myself soon.

i have a Yulan Dancong magnolia grade AA, 2012 to trade (sampler 5gr)by the way. tried one cup (1.5 gr. but this is not my cup of tea lol).

Hi all!
I’ve been on Steepster for a little over a month now, but was not sure if I should go ahead and introduce myself on here…I’m a little shy. Anyway, I’m 27, a mom to my astoundingly beautiful and smart 20 month-old daughter, and a student-nurse out here in the upstate of New York. I’m working on my second bachelor’s degree, and am pretty busy with clinicals, general school-work, and my daughter.
I’ve always enjoyed herbal teas (tisanes, now that I know better), chais, and black teas (tame, bagged), but recently started expanding my horizons into multiple loose-leaf varieties. I’m now hooked, and absolutely love testing out new teas.

I’m new here, too. I’m a graphic artist and printmaker and I live in southern Indiana. I have always enjoyed tea but got really hooked on loose leaf this past fall. Steepster reviews have been very helpful in picking out new teas so I decided to join in the fun! I really love trying out new teas :)

Hello, fellow Steepsters! My name is Emily, and I’ll be graduating this year with my Bachelor’s in Psychology and an English minor. I’m also currently working part-time as a hostess, though hopefully not for much longer. I’ve lived in Upstate NY my whole life and really can’t wait to explore a little.
I was first introduced to loose leaf teas by a friend who bought me some Strawberry Kiwi blend from Teavana for Christmas. While excited about this new way of making tea, I wasn’t a huge fan of the blend, so I kind of forgot about it. I went off to school in NH, so any tea I had was in bag form. It was when I transferred schools, moved back home and found the tea tin with the seriously old Strawberry Kiwi tea in it that my interest was really sparked. I threw that out, but it got me thinking about trying new kinds. I don’t know how much loose tea I bought that fall/winter, but it was awesome! Since then (almost 2 years ago) I’ve been on a roll, trying various teas from many different vendors. I’m still trying to get a footing on what I really enjoy (OOLONGS!). I found steepster when I was looking for teas I wanted to try. I finally became a member about three months ago (I think), so I’m still relatively new. It’s been tons of fun so far!
Anyway, that’s a little background. I like this thread! Cool way to get to know people.

Hi, everyone. I’m a first year grad school student studying to receive my MFA in nonfiction writing. In my last year of undergrad, several friends of mine and some other people formed the Tea Time Club. We would meet every Sunday afternoon, bring our teas to share, and play Scrabble or do homework. I liked tea before the Tea Time Club (I had only a few teas, bagged), but it ignited my obsession. It was how I was introduced to loose tea and the world of the possibilities of blended teas.

I found Steepster last month. I’m really glad I did, since everyone is knowledgeable and friendly as heck. But it’s enabling my addiction to buying tea D: Oh well, I keep coming back anyway.

Hi, I’m a culinary student from sunny (Northern) California. I found this site about six weeks ago. I’m still trying lots of new tea companies, and flavours. So far, my favourite types of tea have been masala chai and rooibos/ honeybush. Since I’m a bit of a night owl, I enjoy a cup of red bush tea late at night while watching Stargate or Doctor Who.

I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m a thisclose to 30 year old living in Eastern Canada. I’m new here, but I have been creeping for awhile as I find the tea reviews very helpful, particularly when considering placing orders online. I don’t like unfortunate surprises! My tea experience so far (“teaxperience”??) has been predominantly inspired by Davidstea, which opened up in my city 2-3 years ago.

I’m a big fan of dessert teas, and that’s how the obsession started. Always trying to be healthier and whatnot I like drinking a cup of dessert based tea to try and stave off cravings for actual desserts. I’m broadening my tastes though and have 2 orders on the way, one from Harney&Sons and one from Kusmi. With the help of all these awesome reviews of course!

I also just bought a Bonavita Gooseneck Temperature Control Kettle, just got it yesterday and I’m pretty much in love.

People in my life think i’m obsessed, which I am of course, but it’s an obsession that they don’t really understand. Hopefully I will find some kindred souls here! I’d love to get into some swapping as I sure have lots of tea :)
