While on a mission to China in the 1800s, England’s Earl Grey supposedly risked his life to save the drowning child of a Chinese nobleman. As a reward, he was given the secret recipe for a black tea scented with bergamot. But many historians say it was more likely a green tea. This blend uses both black and green teas – as well as rose petals, the national flower of England.
