I love black tea flavored with rose, but this is not it. This is hot rose water with the barest hint of tea color and flavor. This tea is more than 3/4 rose petals, and I couldn’t find enough of the black to to look at and figure out what kind of black tea it is. It tastes ok, but it is really dissapointing. This is my first Lupicia experience. :(

I brewed with double the amount I normally use, and still couldn’t get much tea from it. They would be much better off using less actual petals and instead using oil. I’ll go back and try them again at some point, but it will be a while.

When I went to Hawaii in April I stumbled across the most amazing tea store. I walked in, tried a sample, and walked out with $30 worth of fantastic, beautiful loose-leaf tea. This was one of them. I’d never tried anything with rose petals in it before and I admit I was regretting the purchase almost immediately. I was on the phone with a friend that night who assured me that rose tea is great so I went back and got a bag for her before the end of my trip.
Then I forgot about the tea until I was cleaning out the little cabinet I use for teas tonight and saw it had slipped behind a box of tazo passion. So I opened it and decided it was about time to give it a try. The smell upon opening the bag was furiously strong but has since lessened in intensity and is very pleasant. While it brewed the smell was unusually faint so I let it steep for up to 7 minutes. It smelled great by then. The taste is not as strong as I expected but fortunately, this is a good thing, considering I don’t know how well I’d react to a stronger rose flavor. It’s not my favorite tea and it doesn’t rank in my top tea, but it is nice. I think this is a nice tea to try if you haven’t tried rose tea before but it’s not overbearing and it’s almost impossible to over steep.
