Lapsang Souchong is smoke-dried over pinewood fires which gives it a very complex and full-bodied flavor. The experience is strikingly similar to smoking a quality pipe tobacco, both the aroma and taste. It begins on a spicy (peppery) note, moves to a honey-like sweetness and finishes with smoky undertones. This is by far the best tea I have had. If you like strong flavors, I highly recommend it.

My lower rating reflects that I just couldn’t get into this one. It smelled like a wet forest fire in my cup—so much so my hubby thought something had burned in the kitchen. I realize it’s SUPPOSED to be that way, and it is deep and….interesting. I don’t think I have the chops or gravitas to enjoy this one properly. My experience with the other Numi teas has been mixed.

Hmm yeah, still unsure. It’s pretty intense. Maybe it’s an acquired taste.

I used to NOT like this tea but I changing my mind. I still don’t care for the smell…it’s like a campfire…but it’s a different taste and I enjoy it from time to time.

I don’t drink this often but I was looking for something different. The smell still gets me…ek! And I wouldn’t say it’s GOOD but I’ve had worse. The smell really stands in the way.
