Summer House Iced Tea

Black Tea by Peet's Coffee & Tea

Brisk yet mellow blend of teas. Each bag makes one quart of iced tea.

Iced tea is an altogether different drink than hot tea, and it requires teas that have a more smooth and refreshing flavor. Summer House contains three teas from China and India, and the blend has a slightly sweet and toasty note with a mildly brisk flavor.

For the best tasting iced tea, we strongly recommend brewing your tea leaves with boiling water, and then chilling the liquor. Only boiling water can release the flavor and aroma from tea leaves, and preparing tea from lukewarm or cold water is a complete waste. Summer House may cloud slightly when iced, but this is a natural property of fine teas from certain origins, and does not affect flavor.

I tried this iced at Peet’s in Portland yesterday. They mixed it with Odwalla pomegranate juice and I loved it. I drank two glasses while I sat there with my friend and a book. They were out of this, so I went across town to find a box to take home with me.

This is a robust black tea. It brews up nice and strong and tastes good on its own. But why would I leave this by itself? I added Bolthouse Farms Berry Boost Fruit Smoothie to it and it’s delicious. I’d also drink this unsweetened and unmixed.
