If you love Japanese green teas, then this is a must-try Chinese green tea for you! Emerald Needle has the vegetal, savory notes Sencha and Gyokuro are known for, but with an added complexity of flowers, cream and sage. Its underlying sweetness gets stronger with the second infusion, so we love to pair it with dinner (first infusion) and a savory dessert (second infusion). Try this flavorful, full-bodied green tea with a meal of freshwater white fish, chicken-broth udon with seaweed or creamy risotto with asparagus and a dessert of sea salt ice cream or shortbread with lavender sea salt.

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea. I tried to locate it on thepuriTea’s website but did not find it. Perhaps it’s been discontinued, that would be a shame, because this tea is really nice.

It is sweet and vegetative, with an earthy quality to it. Very creamy! I taste floral notes in the background and even a hint of sweet, toasted nut in the distance.

I like this one a lot!

Hi There,

I’m glad you liked the tea, unfortunately I decided to discontinue it. I’m working on sourcing more Green teas. Will keep you posted when we have some new Greens.

Best,

I totally understand. It is a good tea though, and I’m really happy I had the chance to try it. :)

Thanks for taking a chance on it. =) We’ve replaced it with Lychee Green Tea which is a flavored traditional Chine green tea.

We have a promotion running till the end of the month, $5 off all purchases. Coupon code: lulu

If you every need anything, just let me know.

Best,

This tea is quite forward. The dry leaves just say ever-so-matter-of-factly “hello. I’M Emerald Needle”. The leaves are strong and almost have a glazed finish. It’s savory and buttery and creamy. I even over infused and it’s still great. It’s a little sweet but I am thinking it wouldn’t have been sweet had I not over infused. It’s still a nice tasting cup!

Don’t waste your time looking for needles in haystacks. Lots of lovely needle-shaped tea leaves in this tea. My humans take on it: http://lyt-tea-reviews.blogspot.com/2011/02/review-thepuriteacoms-emerald-needle.html

Emerald Needle is a dependable green tea with a pleasing aroma, vegetal taste and sweet finish. The tea has a delicate taste without an overpowering sweetness. The tea is delicate and light, with a body and thickness reminiscent of white teas. It has a sweet and floral flavor, but retains a savory, vegetal aftertaste. I thought this tea was a good everyday tea. For my full review and pics: http://www.leafjoy.com/2010/11/review-emerald-needle-thepuritea/
