365 Days of Tea Challenge – Day 14

The first tea to try from my modest first 52teas order! Anne was kind enough to make sure there was a sampler of this left for me to try after I asked about it. Thanks, Anne! And thank you for the bonus sample! ❤

I do tend to love Earl Grey blends with additional flavors, so this was a no-brainer for me. The base tea is malty but still quite smooth, especially for an Assam blend. There’s a light amount of bergamot, but still enough to make in an Earl Grey in my opinion. The coconut is the main flavor here, and it’s lovely and creamy with the added vanilla.

Coconut is not my favorite flavor, but I do enjoy it occasionally and this is definitely one of those times! I’m not sure if there’s added cream flavor here as well, but it definitely tastes milky, as a latte would. I’m sure it would be even more delicious with sweetener.

Very tasty! I’m not sure this is one I would feel the need to stock, as I’m not a coconut lover, but I’ll very much enjoy the small amount I have. :)

I did sign up for the 52teas subscription as well, so looking forward to trying that out starting next month!

Two of my obsessions in one pic. You just increased my heartrate. I was just looking at the new Malabrigo yarn at fabulousyarn.com but I spent so much on Lupicia this month, it’s out of the question >.<

Cameron B.

I got a gift certificate for Fabulous Yarn for my birthday, but haven’t decided what to get yet…

I’m not super interested in the new Washted, as I prefer plied yarn to singles.

52Teas

Oh my – I love your yarn collection! I love fiber arts – I got into needle felting for a while (before I started doing the 52Teas thing) and I loved it. Now I don’t have as much time for my other arts since taking over 52Teas, that’s become my art. I have always wished I knew how to either knit or crochet but I’ve never taken the time (or had the patience) to learn.

Hi, I’m Cameron!

I’m a 30-something software engineer currently living in Austin, Texas with my husband and our two pugs, Gobo and Ume. I tend to cycle between my different hobbies, and they include piano, knitting, video games, board games, miniature painting, planners, bento, Korean skincare, and – of course – TEA! But really, what I’m best at is “collecting” hobby-related things… ;)

~ 2024 SIPDOWN CHALLENGE! ~
- December sipdowns: 1
- Total 2024 sipdowns: 157

I prefer my tea lukewarm or at room temperature and without milk or sugar. I steep Western style, and fluctuate between using big mugs or small teapots depending on the season.

I am always up for a swap! Just let me know if you’d like to try something in my cupboard.

Tea Preferences:
I enjoy both flavored and unflavored teas in many forms. These days, I drink mostly flavored teas, and I tend to gravitate most toward black, green, oolong, and herbal varieties. I do have a special fondness for straight Japanese green teas, however.

I do not sweeten my teas, and pre-sweetened teas are usually too sweet for me. I also do not enjoy stevia (or monkfruit, etc.).

I tend to reach for fruitier flavors rather than desserty ones these days, but I do have favorites from both categories. Willing to try anything once! There are a few ingredients/flavors that aren’t generally my jam, such as coconut, rose, lavender, and chocolate flavoring. But I also have teas that I love with some of those things, too! :)

Favorite Companies:
3 Leaf
Bird & Blend
Dammann Frères
Harney & Sons
Kyoto Obubu Tea Farms
Lupicia
Old Barrel Tea Co
Simpson & Vail
Taiwan Tea Crafts
TeaVivre

Tea Rating Scale:
90-100: Outstanding! Permanent cupboard resident
80-89: Great – a possible staple
70-79: Good, but I wouldn’t buy it
60-69: It’s decent
50-59: Meh… I may or may not have finished the cup
40-49: Ick. Couldn’t finish it.
00-39: Repulsive, I spat it out

I will sometimes refrain from rating a tea if I feel I’m too biased due to my personal dislikes, or if I suspect the sample has been compromised by age or scent contamination.
