I love this blueberry tea. It reminds me very much of a blueberry muffin. It’s a very light tea with no tartness. It also brewed to a really interesting purple color using the steeping parameters on the package.

This sample was an unexpected surprise from Beorhthraefn. Thank you! This one definitely deserves its high rating. It is a perfect, indescribably delicious tea. This one would be perfect with one of those little fresh fruit tarts with custard.

Thank you Beorhthraefn for swapping with me and sending me this tea!

I realize that I did not carefully follow the steeping parameters, but I am really liking it. It captures Irish cream and cheesecake well. I think I might like this a bit better if the base was had a thicker mouthfeel, if that makes sense. The texture is silky and creamy, but a little bit thin for cheesecake. Still a winner for me, and something I would order if Stacy ever reblends it.

Drinking this one today in the spirit of drinking more of my favorite teas instead of hoarding them until they are stale. I tried a longer and stronger brew of this, and it worked out pretty well. Here are things I didn’t notice the first time I drank this: There is definitely what I can only describe as an umami smell (my dumb palate keeps equating it with tomato paste) and a minty sensation in my mouth after I swallow. These two things made me double-check that I hadn’t accidentally brewed the Red Jade Black lot #268. I am really actually thrown off by how different this one tastes to me today…As this cools the sweet cotton candy notes I remember are becoming more prominent again.

Still loving the drinking-the-favourites project.

Yay! Another sip down! I really wanted something with some caffeine after drinking only white tea this morning. My friend Meghanne told me that another tea I made for her tasted like a chocolate bagel, so maybe this one is a chocolate pumpernickel bagel. Or maybe I just want it with a pumpernickel bagel…I’m getting hungry. Off to dinner!

I am drinking all of my best and favorite teas. My birthday is coming up, so why not treat myself? Also, I have so much tea in my house that is just okay, why would I drink that and let my good tea go stale? So, I am hoping to sip this one down today. I have made one large pot of this one this morning, and I have just enough left for another pot or for a gong fu session.

Preparation

yay for favorite teas!

Kamyria

Yay!! You definitely should be drinking your favorite teas. :)

Anna

Yes! I am all for it!

CharlotteZero

Thanks for the support! Drinking your favorites also means letting go of them, though…But it can also mean making room in your cabinet for new favorites, so that’s how I’m trying to look at it. :-)

Anna

Do you have many favourites you can’t restock?

CharlotteZero

It seems like most of them! Excluding flavored teas, which are usually pretty consistent, I find that most of the unflavored teas I drink vary noticeably from year to year and season to season. But sometimes a favorite tea will be even better when I restock it with a more recent batch, and most teas taste best when they’re fresh (at least that’s how I convince myself to sipdown favorites).

Anna

I’m trying to get into unflavoured teas more, but I find the whole notion of not being able to restock my faves sort of unsettling and a little disconcerting.

I still support the sipdown cause, though. =)

I finally have a little bit of time to catch up on reading others’ Steepster notes. Casey and I had this one tonight with our Tofurkey pizza with chipotle sauce. Pretty tasty.

Casey’s stomach was unsettled last night, so I decided to make this because it has some ginger in it. I don’t know if ginger has actually been proven to work at helping people’s stomachs or if it’s BS, but I also figured this would be less harsh on his stomach than the black teas we usually drink in the evenings, anyway.

I am bumping up the rating because I liked it much more than the first time I had it. I think it was the fact that I didn’t smell the wet leaves this time. The wet leaves smell very vegetal and smelling them makes those aromas stick out to me.

Alright…it goes against my snooty nature, but I want some of this.

CharlotteZero

If you’d like me to send you some, just message me. I buy way more tea than I can drink. :-)

I made a small pot of this last night. Fruity teas aren’t typically my favorite, because I find too many of them to be cloying or they have weird aftertastes, but I really enjoyed this. The fruit flavors were balanced nicely with the base, and the finish was clean. I would definitely reorder this one!

I just wanted to thank keychange for sending me the rest of her package of this. My friend Meghanne was visiting me from Chicago for a long weekend and I made this tea (among others) for her. She really liked it a lot, maybe almost as much as I do.

keychange

I’m so glad it finally reached you!

Profile

Bio

Tea means so many things to me, it is so deep and it is revealing new meaning to me all the time.

Tea is a mindfulness practice, and a doorway through which to explore different philosophies, cultures, and historical times. Tea is hospitality and a way of communion. Tea is an art, a ritual, and a tradition. Tea is a complement to the foods I eat (preferably vegan desserts) and is something I enjoy collecting and curating.

I love to swap, or even just send people samples, so if there’s anything in my cupboard you’d like to try, just send me a message!
