I finished this sample, I drank half of it and used the other to season a lower grade pot I got and since I think I Shengs will have to grown on me I’ll use that pot for them. I have fancy pot for my cooked Puerhs. Anyway for me this was bitter, tasted like creamy Hay with a cooling feeling. and a bit of funk. Not my ‘cup of tea’ but since so healthy I drank so many infusions I lost count, it does go on and on. I’l give the others in the order a try as well as ones from other vendors in my stash. Perhaps It will grow on me. I’m going to reccomend it anyway because this is just my taste, the tea was tolerable and others seem to like it. This was my Cherry breaking Sheng.

Ok, I’m still very new to tea. This is my first whole compressed cake. I used about 5 grams with boiling water, so it was a bit strong in my 7oz teapot. Ok, I noticed some astringency and fruity notes on the citrus side. I think I brewed it too strong so as taboo as it is I added a splash of light agave nectar and it was yummy. this tea reminded me of the typical teas you get in a Chinese restaurant. I like it but again I don’t have much to compare it to, I’m still a tea newb. I will try again in a few months and since I have two cakes think I will try making it iced. I think it would be good iced. It’s a good tea but not uber fantastic. Smoke notes and fruit with high tannins for the most part. Brewed 30seconds then added more time with each infusion, lost it’s umph around infusion 5

This tea is such a flowery tea it’s like a garden in your cup. it’s total Spring or Summer. The leaves are huge unfurled and so vibrant. I’m sad it’s out of stock so I’m hording the last of mine.

This is a wonderful fruity and creamy oolong. I will concur with a previous reviewer here to be able to take a single tea unprocessed without adding anything to it and get a result such as this and the pleathera of other teas both black, oolong, etc is amazing. which is why tea for me blows coffee out of the water. It’s flowery, rich, fruity although i didn’t notice much coconut.

This is a rich warming blend, malty creamy deep cocoa flavor from the real nibs, not fake at all. When I was running low on both this and one of the plain black teas i just mixed them up, it brewed up nice, so actually this tea can be a multi tasker. nice to get a few steeps out of too.

I’ve made 4 decent purchases from Whispering Pines so I have like 20 types of teas and this is the only one I didn’t like. I’m still new to the tea scene and sometimes you have to learn by not liking a tea, we all have had it happen, but I LOVE the other teas which will be reviewed soon. Too much smoke and fish pond funk, and I hardly noticed the flavors everyone else does.

I’ve ordered tea ware twice from Music City Tea and each time they sent a nice sample of this Big Red Robe dark Oolong. It is a very toasty, roasty rich yet clean tasting tea and in a Gawain i got at least 5 steeps using 3.5 grams. I’ve since ordered red robe tea from a couple other vendors and will have to see how it compares. I increased steep time as i passed the 2nd steep.

If hot cocoa and black tea had a baby without adding cocoa nibs or anything this would be the tea result. It’s thick, rich, malty and chocolaty. I even think my housemate who says she hates tea will like this.

I am a homemaker, amerature photographer and an ex smoker who is now Vaping. I also am an avid tea lover. I live in the DC area, not many tea places around other than Ten Ren but a few nice places like Teasim which is where I discovered loose leaf teas about 18 years ago. I fell out of tea and recently due to Instagram fell back into tea and am exploring new teas. I love all the colors of tea, no Lipton please though, but am just starting to explore Pureh tea. Any advise is appreciated. As I interact more with my teafriends on Instagram I"m more exposed to types of teas and good vendors and my collection is growing both of tea and teaware. Since joining here I’ve squired quite a bit so organization is a must. I’ll be filling out my cupboard here and get a move on with tasting notes and blogging. I’ve sorta joined here but forgot this wonderful sites’ use. Follow me, lets be tea friends, teach me I can learn.
