Having a cup of this this morning, I’m hoping that if I finish off this and my Snow Fairy, I will be out of samples and able to justify ordering 3 more try me packs, and maybe a mystery box….hehehe. Anyways, this is tasting mostly green tea to me today, with a small hint of mint and a smaller bit of jasmine. Not as good as when I first tried it, I don’t think. It’s a nice mild cup, but I don’t think I will keep this one stocked in my cupboard. Good for a zen like day though, which unfortunately will not be today, with homework and the superbowl. See previous notes on this tea :)
Preparation
Another mint tea for me today. I’ve been meaning to try this, it’s the last one in my try me pack that I haven’t gotten to! That reminds me, I’ll have to write a note for the vanilla pineapple white one, haven’t yet and I had it quite a while ago! Anyways, onto this tea. I steeped for around 2 mins, with water approx 165 degrees F.
This tea smells strongly of peppermint, can’t really get any other smell from it but that. The wet leaves are more interesting, I am definitely getting the green tea with a hint of floral, and the mint is much more muted.
So now for taste, there is a very nice and mild green tea flavor in here. I get a bit of a grassy taste from it, quite enjoyable. The mint is in the forefront, but it is much more toned down than the smell. The jasmine adds a sort of depth to the tea, it’s at the beginning too, but lighter by a tiny bit than the mint, it builds as the sip continues. A bit of sweetness seems to be surfacing too, as I continue this cup, or maybe as it cools? The flavors meld together quite nicely!
Overall, this is an interesting tea. I like it! It’s very calming, one of the more calming flavored greens I have found. I perhaps would like a bit more jasmine, but then I don’t know, it might taste too much like a pure jasmine tea. Currently the flavors are pretty good! I will have to try further cups of this before making a full decision on what I think of it though, it’s very interesting, and I enjoy interesting teas :)
Preparation
So I threw this into my Della Terra order because it had good reviews. I was wary, because the Toasted Marshmallow tea from DavidsTea was fail for me.
I brewed this up one lazy afternoon because I wanted something new. First sip: OMG YUM! MARSHMALLOWS! It’s sweet and chocolatey in the sip, then as you swallow it’s like sugary sweet, marshmallow goodness. Like, EXACTLY like marshmallow. It’s uncanny; this is one of the most accurately flavoured teas I’ve had. I’m going through this bag pretty quickly because I just keep making it and forsaking all my other teas. I can’t say that I get graham cracker from this, but that’s okay with me. Chocolate and marshmallow are nothing to complain about, especially when done this well.
Preparation
Exciting! DT’s version was a total bust for me too, and I just ordered this one from Della Terra as well – hoping for the same reaction as you!
I’m not sure, I haven’t had anything from Teopia. If you like sweet dessert teas though, I’d definitely try this one.
This seems to go as fast as it comes in. I am swapping loads of this tea and not drinking nearly enough of it myself, so I sip now. Marshmallowy, chocolatey, graham crackery goodness. It’s smooth and rich without being bitter. It’s a summer bonfire in a grey kitten mug and I love it so much.
I think my addiction to this tea increases with each cup. I saw a recipe online yesterday on my favorite health blog for s’mores oatmeal and immediately started craving this. I was thinking about it all through my workout and then for some reason I went with a different dessert tea at home.
So now I am waking up at work to the creamy, chocolaty, spicy, smooth, rich, indulgent sweet goodness of Della Terra S’mores tea :)
I have all of my Della Terra teas in their original bags expect for this one. This one is in an Adagio tin…which makes me forget I have it!! I didn’t have time to make a cup of tea before leaving the house this morning so here I am at my desk, being reminded of the EPIC GLORY AND DELICIOUSITY that is S’mores tea! It smells like a gooey chocolaty marshmallowy mess, and the flavor. OOOH the flavor.
First sip fills my mouth with a smooth aroma, a perfect balance of creamy marshmallow and decadent rich dark chocolate. Then as I finish the sip I get the sweet spiciness of the graham cracker. I am officially adding this to my list of “must reorder!” for Della Terra.
I brought a few premade teabags to my cousins for Thanksgiving because I don’t drink alcohol and I still had a S’mores teabag left in my tote! Yay! That means I can drink a delicious desserty tea at work, which I wasn’t planning on doing today.
I so love this tea, subtle chocolatiness, creamy marshmallow feel, with a bit of graham cracker spice.
I bought this because I posted in the discussions asking everyone’s favorite decadent tea choices and Rebecca Lynn said that Smore’s from Della Terra is insane. SO CORRECT! I am loving everything from Della Terra right now but smores is amazing.
The first thing I could taste was the vanilla creaminess of the marshmallow. The chocolate came next with that rich smoothness. I cannot wait to drink more of this tea, I love it!
It also has me on a Della Terra kick, making my wish list for Black Friday and looking forward to sharing these with my family this holiday weekend (even though I’m sure they’re far less interested…oh well, more for me!). GREAT suggestion Rebecca Lynn, thank you!
I’ve had 3 cups of tea today and only 1 was caffeinated…whoaaa I need a dose!! So I brewed up this sparkly little treat and even though my headache hasn’t subsided, my intense negativity has lessened :p Like everyone else, I’m addicted to this tea. I’m lately loving teas with an AROMA…a whole feeling not just a taste. This is fun and sweet but not sickeningly sweet, and for some reason I’m getting a touch of a coconut smell to it.
If there were a petition to keep this year round, I’d sign it and have my friends who don’t even drink tea sign it too. But I did comment on their facebook page in hopes that the elves will work off season to keep this coming in laaaarge doses.
Oh my goodness! SO delicious!! I’m sipping this at my desk at work right now for the first time and the first thing I taste is a roasty marshmallow flavor, it even SMELLS like a roasty marshmallow.
The caramel flavor I think comes after you’ve enjoyed the sip, like an aftertaste, which is actually fairly nice because the tea is excellent all the way through the sip. No bitterness, no dryness. I steeped for 3 minutes at boiling with 1.5 teaspoons.
I have a slight obsession with this tea for many reasons. And I had a cup in bed last night, which is why I’m posting my love for it.
1. The snowflake sprinkles are too cute. Like I’ve said, I have a weakness for the cute factor in teas.
2. It smells- and tastes- like vanilla frosting. Not the sticky sweet that hurts your stomach and your teeth though, like an indulgence that you can’t get enough of and don’t have to!
3. It’s caffeine free and I can’t taste the “medicinal” flavor that rooibos can often have. I can drink this in bed while I obsess over the 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family and not worry that my heart will race, I won’t be able to sleep, or that it will upset my stomach if it’s empty.
4. Rooibos is known for settling an upset stomach and is recommended for after meals to aid digestion…what better way to aid digestion than an amazing DESSERT flavored tea? It’s like getting 2 for 1, dessert and your food settled…and no calories.
I am now prompted to go order 4 more ounces of it while it’s on sale.
I made a cup of this as soon as the package came in as I rushed out the door to take my kitten to the vet…it made a cold blistery Vermont day warm and cozy.
This tea has a sugary sweetness to it without feeling sticky, I want to say it’s like frosting but it is much more like real eggnog than that. The cinnamon adds the festive spice to it and the snowflake sprinkles make it FUN!
I usually bring one or two teas to work with tea to drink throughout the day and this one is in my bag today. I love it! This is my first Della Terra experience and I just made my Black Friday Wish List at my desk :p
I got this as a sample with my Della Terra order and drank it last night with a couple of Pepperidge Farm Ginger Men on the side :) Such a treat! It taste very much like a gingerale flavor. It’s not super spicy like other ginger teas I’ve tried. It’s a very sweet, cozy kind of flavor and I love that it’s a rooibus tea and I can drink it at night!
I will probably order the 2oz bag on Black Friday because I love to keep teas on hand for upset stomachs and what better than a gingerale flavor rooibus tea for that? I recommend it
Azzrian Thanks for this one!
This is pretty pleasing tot he palate but I wouldn’t call it Ginger Snap.
At first sniff it reminded me of an adult beverage like Amaretto Sour. At first sip it reminded me of it as well with a dash of black pepper. once it cooled at room temp it was more like Orange Juice and Chai Spices.
Strange. Not what I would call Ginger Snap. But fairly tasty.
Like so many of my fellow Steepsters in the USA, this Monday will be spent scampering off to the grocery store for Thanksgiving Dinner ingredients.
My daughter called this morning to inform me that the body count for dinner at her home will be 20 people, 10 children and 10 over the age of 15. Oh my! I’m so glad she has a big house and an acre out back for the 6 non-infant boys to run around and play on a beautiful warm Autumn day. It will be warm here!
As the only Elder, I am required to bring the food memories my daughter can’t live without. Fortunately, that’s easy. She makes my mom’s turkey stuffing and has the antique gravy boat. I create her favorite yam, apple and pecan casserole layered like a lasagna with butter, maple, brown sugar and spice.
This year I’m making the kids ice cream pies. Pumpkin and candy cane peppermint pies for fun. And tea of course.
(I’ll save my prize winning Apple Pie for Christmas when we’re just family and have RIBS!)
Off shopping I must go! But first, TEA! Dessert tea puts me in a good mood. (All tea puts me in a good mood most of the time!)
I made a small pot of Chocolate Covered Strawberry tea, looking forward to several sweet cups.
Right off, this isn’t a tea that I would drink without adding sugar or sweetener. Some dessert tea’s you can omit sweetening, but not this one. The strawberry flavor is released when sweetened and is the dominant flavor in the tea.
I found the taste sour from the artificial flavoring so I added some cream to soften the tea and make it creamy. This helped.
Another thing that I have trouble with is the chocolate. The strawberry flavor is strong and the chocolate is hardly there at all. (I’ve had trouble tasting the chocolate flavor in all the Della Terra Chocolate Tea’s though, maybe the artificial flavoring and my taste buds are at odds with each other)
This isn’t an awful tea, don’t get me wrong. It’s more of a strawberry tea in my opinion.
I think some of the other tea’s I’ve tried have been more successful.
Off to shop!
Woh! Full house, that will create an ambiance, that’s for sure!
Didn’t care much for that tea either, although I think Della Terra makes pretty decent flavoured teas (from most of the ones I’ve tried so far at least…)
My Grandmother makes a similar baked yams, only hers is peaches and cashews instead of apples and pecans. It’s so delicious, I eat more of that than the turkey!
Azzrian Thanks, Girl!
Now…THIS…is a straight-up Vanilla Flavored Black! It smells and tastes wonderful!
A nice mellow yet medium strength black tea base but more importantly a wonderfully smooth vanilla walking hand-in-hand with the black tea. It’s lovely!
If you are a flavored black tea fan or a vanilla fan this would place nicely in your stash!
Catching up on my tea log – sorry for the flood, everyone!
The smell of blueberries was very strong in the dry tea, but lost a little of its potency in the cup. It still tasted very much like blueberries though, and went down very smoothly indeed. I found the blueberry taste a little artificial, hence the lower rating. I should note that my husband, who is not a tea drinker, really enjoyed this tea.
Preparation
Have to admit I was a little disappointed with this one. It tasted like a whole lot of fruit and didn’t really have any distinctive flavour for me. That being said, I did happily sip down the whole cup and I will drink it again. I did love the colour of the tea… a lovely ghoulish green that looked great in my glass mug!
Preparation
Just want to add a shout-out to Della Terra Teas here. I was putting in an order for some half-price Halloween specials, and I put a note asking if they were still offering samples with an order (the Facebook page wasn’t clear). I requested this one if they were, and they sent me a very generous, full 1 oz sample. I am very impressed by their customer service!!
This one smells EXACTLY like a Terry’s chocolate orange. Unfortunately the flavour was just a little off for me, too heavy on the chocolate and too light on the orange. It was better with cream and a touch of sugar than it was just straight. Reviewing the tea info, I see it says to steep for 2-3 minutes and I did much longer than that – maybe the taste is my own fault. I might also try blending this with another tea.
Preparation
I love lemon. I love rooibos. I really liked, but did not absolutely love, this blend. Drank it straight and found it a little too sweet to my taste. It left that thick feeling you get in your mouth after you eat a piece of lemon meringue pie. This is incredible if you like and are in the mood for lemon meringue! I might save this tea for such a mood.
Preparation
Smelled great in the bag and tasted almost as good as it smelled. I drank it straight and thought it was quite good, but it may even be better with milk and sugar. I brewed my cup with 1 tsp, next time I will try a little bit more – I found it a little weak. I may adjust my rating.
