This was what I chose to drink during the staff meeting yesterday; it’s essentially the last “flavoured” black on my list of stuff to check off if you count the Chai as its own category. The rest of the blacks are straight ones that I’ve had through other companies.
This was actually really nice; as I expected it would be. The chocolate notes are really creamy and smooth, despite this being dark chocolate and not milk chocolate. A small downside to actually using shavings rather than just cocoa shells/nibs is that the mouthfeel was a bit oilier, but not a huge issue given that the flavour was solid. The blueberry comes through in the flavour after the chocolate hits you and it’s really familiar because it’s the exact same sweet, jammy blueberry note I know and love so much from Blueberry Jam. Tasting it here in this tea is like running into an old acquaintance that you haven’t seen in ages; you have a history but they’re not the same person you knew way back when either. Still it’s nice to see them! Just like this was nice to drink.
I definitely always meant to try it as well, but I like Blueberry Jam so much that I just feel it necessary to have two blueberry teas on hand, should I end up liking it. I’m kind of happy that now that I’ve tried it, I don’t feel like I’d need to own both of them – in my opinion Blueberry Jam was better, but I think only because I don’t crave chocolate tea often. This could be a nice option to drink in store when I want a slight change of pace, though.
Friendly reminder that I’m not currently numerically rating DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently seasonally employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
