An Ode to Tea challenge – A

Brewed this one up, thought the citrus might help my immune system after getting the COVID VACCINE yesterday YEAH.  Really, most importantly, I wanted to get the vaccine for the long suffering nurses, doctors, and any other staff at the hospitals and nursing homes,  school teachers and all the other workers who keep things going every day.  I thought the citrus might  help my immune system, as I was definitely feeling it.  I usually can tell in my bones when my immune system is fighting something.   A nice orangey cup anyway!

And so FINALLY the alphabet sipdown challenge concludes!  It was a fun one.  I would definitely do this again, maybe a few months from now.  What I noticed while looking at the list of sipdowns though, most of these teas that I finished were never in something like 50gram pouches.  Most of these were 3-5 serving type teas which makes me think I keep those teas in mind knowing they will be easier sipdowns.  But then anything that is in 50-100g amount might get put on a backburner and I need to work on those larger amounts.  So this challenge actually taught me something anyway!  So with this challenge, I completed 24 actual sipdowns which is better than I thought would happen!  I’m fine not having two letters be actual sipdowns, especially when O and U are the rarer letters.  BUT THEN.  I just had to buy teas from Maya Tea.  An awesome sale where so many samples were $1. So those samples, plus two teas I wanted to try at 50grams and the number increased by 19 again, so basically undoing the work of this entire sipdown challenge.  Another lesson learned.  :/
And another note: I don’t know… it might not count as a sipdown to others, if it started out as a single teabag… but it counts to me if it’s a precious sample from Bird&Blend, or a sample from a tea bud! So SOME single teabags count.  I guess we all sipdown in our own ways. :D

Also, drinking a cup of Unbridled Love right now in an effort to pretend I’m trying to sip this down!

My sister who had covid months ago, actually was feeling the immunity building after taking the vaccine, which tells me that the vaccine probably helps even if you already had covid! I think so many people hesitate to get the vaccine because they already had covid, but I think the vaccine might be added protection.

My sister also had COVID, and she got vaccinated. The side effects of the vaccine actually hit her a little worse.

further proof it’s working!

Leafhopper

Yay! Glad you got your vaccine! I’ll be eligible for my first dose next week.

I also count single teabags if they’re from a swap! Otherwise I tend to keep them in my big ol’ bag of teabags for when I travel.

Congrats on getting your vaccine! My whole family now has it!

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! Many of my teas have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

I’m always in search of: Hattialli, Qu Hao black, Jin Jun Mei, teas using marshmallow root.

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), turmeric, bee pollen, charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites – cupboard essential
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
50-65 – Okay
1-50 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. (Or as evidenced by the great computer hiatus of 2019, something happened to my computer… I have a dumb phone so can’t access internet on that. As of 12/20/21 my wifi might start getting unreliable.)

Happy sipping!
