So, a funny thing, when I reviewed PISTACHIO Horizon, I had originally confused it with this one. When I noticed my error, I corrected it.
Now onto PRALINE Horizon. I have to say that these two teas aren’t just similar in name but also in flavour. Pretty close in taste but I like this one just a titch more. It’s nuttier than the other and I really enjoy that nuance.
Excellent quality. To think, these teas are considered old now but I’ve stored them well and they still taste great, as strong as ever with that hallmark quality of re-steepability that I have come to know Butiki for.
Such a shame that they went out of business, it really was such a great tea-house and couldn’t have had a nicer person running it (Stacy.)

Obviously this tealogging thing is near-impossible being back to work. Sigh. There’s just literally no time in the day to spare for it.

Anyhow, this is diminishing in flavour but still thoroughly enjoyable.

Had two delicious cups of this to start my day! It’s going to be an interesting day, I think, because I rejoined Weight Watchers last night and it’s my first day back on the plan, and I’m starting my second job tonight, too! I’m a little nervous since I’ve never worked two jobs at once before and I don’t know how it’s going to work out, but I’m looking forward to it. Mostly I’m looking forward to being paid enough to live on.

This is one of my favourite breakfast teas. It works perfectly for that time of day. The Crimson Horizon on its own is something I drink for breakfast regularly, but when I want something flavoured I go for this one instead. Praline is one of my favourite flavours, and in this tea it’s almost like a praline chocolate has been melted into a cup of tea. It’s subtle enough that it’s not sickly sweet, but not so subtle that it could be mistaken for a natural note of the Crimson Horizon. To me, hazelnut and caramel notes are most present, but there’s a medley of nuts in the background that give it depth of flavour and richness which makes it slightly indulgent for a breakfast tea. Plain, the CTC base is too astringent for me, but with a drop of skimmed milk it’s perfect. This rounds out the praline flavour too, and makes it slightly more creamy, but it does lose some of the briskness which makes it perfect for first thing in the morning. Adding a small pinch of sugar brings out some chocolate notes, and sweetens up the nuttiness and caramel notes so that it really is like drinking a melted chocolate in a cup of tea (in a totally non-goopy way). Sure, it’s not overly complex, but who needs complexity when they’re still half asleep? I know I don’t.

This one had the same off flavor I noticed in Butiki’s Coffee Ice Cream, and, consequently, I didn’t really like it. I did like the strong, malty, brisk base, though.

With milk today!

Totally over steeped but I don’t caaaare! It’s delicious and getting me going.

I have to sand down the spackle I applied yesterday, wipe it all down, and slap on some primer. I’ve been SO SLOW with redoing my bathroom and the landlordy people are all, “Can you give us back the spackle? And the paint? And the rollers?” Never mind that they never gave me any sand paper or primer or putty knives or anything like that. Just paint, roller, tray, putty. Hmm..

I have no energy anymore for renovation type projects, so I totally applaud you! YAY for new bathrooms! :D
(and, Praline Horizon is amazing….)

OMGsrsly

I have no energy for it either but I wanted a good job done so I’m doing it myself. I’m just repainting, but the paint is completely lifting because they didn’t use primer. lol. Much eye rolling here.

Sil

we finally finished the kitchen/couunter tops and tiles… so nice.

OMGsrsly

Yay!!!

I’m thinking of finding new kitchen cabinets on Craigslist and telling them I’m redoing my kitchen. Haha. New sink and faucet too. That would be so nice.

Kaylee was kind enough to send me a sample of this one in our recent swap. Sadly, I think it may have been contaminated by one of the other teas I requested, because I’m not getting pralines from this at all…just lots of strong, malty black base tea with a hint of unexpected banana flavor. Not going to leave a rating since I suspect contamination. I doubt this would have really been a favorite for me anyway…Crimson Horizon is just a bit too overbearing for my tastes!

Aww, sorry it got contaminated!

Inkling

Not your fault! I’m the one that requested that delicious-smelling banana tea. :) Thanks for sharing!

Got a sample of this one from AllanK in our swap. I didn’t know what a praline was so I never picked it up and All I heard about it from people was that it was gonna be nutty, so I passed.
That was a mistake.
I regret not buying this so much!
It’s absolutely delicious!
It’s bold and rich. The main flavor is a creamy caramel. The base tea gives it a strong malty flavor which I love! Has a tiny bit of nuttiness, but not much at all.
It’s not bitter at all, and while it’s very rich it still has a certain sweetness from the caramel flavor.
This was so much better than I thought it would be. It’s crazy good. If this were available still I’d stock up on it. Seriously so so good!
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to try this incredible tea, AllanK! Another win from Butiki!!

Oh. My. Goodness. This tea is the best morning tea I have had… it’s perfect. Just enough of a kick to warrant a touch of cream, making this one killer cup of tea.
I’ve steeped this 3 times already, and I completely plan on going in for a 4th. It’s fantastic!!
It’s malty and complex, so different from what I expect to taste in a ctc.
I never got to try the Crimson Horizon on its own, but that’s ok…because this is utterly fabulous.
My Butiki box arrived today with my final teas….and it’s this combination of exultant joy (Stacy is the BEST! my box is amazing….), and a tinge of sadness…. But I’m not going to harp on that sadness, because this box of tea has made my snowed-in self sooooooo very happy. :)))
Yes. I recommend this tea. It’s glorious! :D

Plunkybug

Gah, now I really do wish I had gotten this one too.

i love this one too and am bummed there’s no way to restock. when i got it, it pretty much became my first-thing-out-of-bed tea until i used up the entire bag, because you’re so right, it’s perfect for that. and yeah, i love that it resteeps so well (which is kind of surprising given it’s CTC). it also amuses me how it reminds me of grape nuts. (:

DeliriumsFrogs

HAHAHA!!! I totally thought ‘grape nuts’, too!!
Yeah, the resteeping value of this is wonderful (I did the same with the grapefruit creme brulee… the base just gives and gives.. i love it). It’s gonna be a sad day when this one’s gone.

I took a small sample of this from Kittenna’s bag to try and though the praline is amazing, the base is a touch too brisk for my tastes. Still, I can see this being loved by many and I am enjoying the nutty caramel notes in this cup quite a bit. Thank you Kittenna for the chance to try this tea.

Regrets…so many regrets.

I wish I had ordered more of this one, especially considering how much of a fan I was/am of Crimson Horizon as an unflavored tea.

This is delicious. Very nutty. Not overly sweet, but definitely mildly dessert-like. I plan to resteep with a bit of sugar, to make it extra dessert-like.

I added a splash of 10% cream, which is how I like Crimson Horizon. It’s a good, strong, sturdy black tea – my favourite. The addition of the praline flavour just throws me over the edge of awesome.

I’m face-palming myself also because I didn’t order ANY of the Pistachio Horizon. So disappointed in myself and my terrible decision making skills. :(

IF YOU HAVE THIS AND HATE IT, SELL IT TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :)
