Cinnamon Heart (Discontinued)

Yuck.
I really did not like this tea.
Maybe it was just the batch I got, or maybe it’s just my tastebuds, but it was way more fishy than cinnamon.
Dry it smelled exactly like a cinnamon heart! True to the name I guess haha. I was super excited, but brewed hot, the pu’erh was too fishy for me. Usually I like pu’erh and it doesn’t bother me in the slightest, so I’m wondering if it was my batch? The smell was fish, the taste was sort of cinnamon, more earthy. Tried not to smell when I drank it but it didn’t help.

Either way, it was a chore to finish the cup and I didn’t resteep. I couldn’t.

Once it cooled down, it was more cinnamon (I added a little sugar too), but this tea was just not tasting right for me.

Luckily, it was just a 1 teaspoon I got from my mother in law. She was hoping I would take the whole bag off her hands after trying it but I had better not haha n_n;

Right off the bat, I want this tea to be darker and don’t care for the orange smell. It needs to be purer cinnamon and warm spices.
Full disclosure: I don’t know how much tea I used. I have an enormous mug, so I just dumped a whole sample tin in a coffee filter and steeped it that way. Gheeeeetto…..
The taste is much better than the smell. The cinnamon IS actually like a cinnamon heart, in that it almost stings your tongue (in the best possible way.) I think I added too much sugar — a habit of mine. The body is heavier than I expected, and it’s almost coolingly refreshing, but warming at the same time.
I made the right decision using my entire sample and a huge mug. This is going to be a good afternoon.

I absolutely LOOOOOOOOOOVE this tea. It tastes and smells EXACTLY like those little red candy cinnamon hearts people buy on Valentine’s Day. I find that steeping it for 4 minutes is the PERFECT amount of time to get the taste just right; anything longer than that will be MUCH too strong and will NOT taste very pleasant. I don’t even add sugar or milk/cream to it; black is just fine for me! (Although, I’m sure you could!)
I can’t wait to get my hands on this again! :D

Not bad. This is one of the first teas with black tea in it I can actually drink. Mainly because it tastes like liquid cinnamon hearts, and not puerh or black tea.

I don’t think I’ll buy more, because I have lots of cinnamon herbal teas that I like more, but still, not bad.

This is the second pu-erh I’ve tried.
Honestly, I don’t care for them at all. I don’t like the smell of this one. It smells almost fishy to me. I don’t know why. I did the 30-second steep, toss and then re-steeped.
I did load up on the milk and sugar, but I still don’t really care for it at all. I don’t mind the cinnamon part of it, but I do wish there was more to this tea. I feel like it needs more than just the cinnamon.
It’s not terrible, but it definitely not one that I’d buy.

I like seeking out really good quality tea – so I’m not sure what possessed me to buy something from David’s Tea – I also don’t know why I bought a flavoured tea! But I did actually hand over money for this terrible “tea”, and now I’m stuck with it. I’m not sure why they bother calling it Pu’er, as it has very little in it (and it is of poor quality). All I could smell was cinnamon hearts. I had to add sugar (!!) to get any flavour out at all, and even then it was just cinnamon hearts. For anyone wanting to try Pu’er, go visit a reputable tea merchant and get the good stuff. This ain’t it. If you’re not a real tea connoisseur, and you love cinnamon hearts, then you might actually like it.

With a name like this, I expected it to be cinnamony and it is by dry leaf scent but once steeped is where it failed. It had a light scent of cinnamon to it but not as strong as I wanted it to be (like cinnamon hearts!!!). I was okay with the pu-erh scent. It wasn’t as put off as it could have been.

I generally enjoy cinnamon as a spice, but not in my teas – too often the cinnamon is finely ground and washes off the tea, leaving a over-cinnamoned bit in the bottom of the cup. This doesn’t do that, I think. Can’t tell by looking, cuz it’s black as night, but it tastes like the cinnamon is nice and even. If I didn’t know this was a pu-erh, and what a pu-erh tastes like, I’d think this was just cinnamon and black tea. It’s not a bad drink, but my tastes really seem to be moving away from flavored teas – I’m enjoying the many tastes of the tea itself, and against the cinnamon in this, it’s hard to pick out much detail.

I got this and hot lips while in Canada. To me this is sooo much better. it’s got a nice, earth base – but isn’t nearly as fishy as say, cofee pu’erh – and the cloves and orange add to the overall warming effect. thumbs up from me.

It’s the one I’m having. If you like cinnamon and if you are looking for something healthy, try to find this one. It’s strong, yes, but totally worth it. It’s also your best weapon if you have a long night ahead of you. I have most of my teas when I work nightshift and this one definitely was the most effective kid I’ve had. Hopefully I’ll never run out of it.
