Steepster TTB 2025

I have to admit that my tea drinking in 2025 has been pretty uninspiring — I’ve barely written any Steepster notes, and I’ve mostly been drinking old favorites. That makes the TTB’s arrival extra exciting for me!

Mmm, smells delicious. This is malty, astringent, and maple-y, but I’m not getting much blueberry at all (or bready notes to evoke pancakes, for that matter). Blueberry as a flavor is hard to capture in general, I think. I do have a soft spot for brisk breakfast teas, and I love maple, so I’m not complaining here. But “blueberry pancakes” is a stretch!

There’s not much left in this packet so I’ll probably keep it and try it again with some oat milk — that might add some pancake-y heft to the flavor.

TTB 2025. Have I ever tried anything from necessiteas before? Not sure. I’m not a big fan of blueberries but this looked interesting enough to give it a try. Made as an oat milk latte. Mostly I’m just getting maple syrup, with just a faint whiff of blueberry that I might not have noticed at all if I didn’t know it was there. I enjoyed this more than I expected to, but someone who likes blueberries might be disappointed.

2025 TTB #5

I haven’t tried much from Neccessiteas and their blends always sound delicious, so I was eager to sample this one! Although I could see dried blueberries in the leaf and smell a bit of berry sweetness as it stepped, all I could really taste was the maple. It was a pleasant, natural-tasting maple…but based on the name, I was hoping for more.

Working on sipping through my Necessiteas stash, as they’re starting to get old. This isn’t one of my favorites, but it’s still pretty good. Mostly brown sugar and maple, with a touch of sweet blueberry. I like the black base as well- not astringent or bitter and grounds the sweetness of the maple sugar and dried blueberries.

Preparation: Lazy latte (1/2 tsp maple syrup and oatmilk, no foam)
Tasting note: The first time around, I didn’t get much blueberry but this time I kind of looked through the bag to make sure there were some blueberries in my scoop. That helped a lot is making sure that there were blueberry notes. In latte form, the blueberry notes seemed more noticeable and the maple didn’t take over this time. I think that my latte tastes more like the blueberry syrup you pour on the pancake opposed to the pancake itself. More specifically, I wasn’t getting bready vibes from the tea or latte. I don’t think that is a bad thing, it is still quite good. Overall, this feels like a relatively simple blend but delivers well as a latte. I probably won’t buy it again because I feel like there are better blueberry options out there.

This is more mildly flavored than I’d prefer. It’s a bit desserty, and I can taste the berry a little, but nothing is very distinct. The base tea could also be a lot stronger. The second time I made this, I added soy milk, and I feel like that’s helping the maple flavor show up. My second cup of this was really pretty decent, though it definitely wasn’t a perfect execution of the flavor. And this is my last tea from amandastory516! Thanks so much for all the teas you generously shared – it’s definitely made me want to place my own order with Necessiteas!

2021 Sipdown #58:
April Sipdown Alphabet Challenge: “M” Tea
This sample was kindly sent to me from AmandaStory
I like this one but the blueberry in this seems hidden as I’m pretty much just tasting maple from it. That being said the maple flavor is really nice and I did add a splash of soymilk to this cup as the website suggested. With the milk, it’s a nice and creamy maple tea. I do wish this tea had a stronger base though. It’s a nice dessert tea but not one that I feel the need to repurchase. I’m curious to see how this compares with the Blackberry Maple Waffle tea.
