I remain the only person to date who has reviewed this tea. Your loss, suckers. I needed something to simultaneously wake me up and settle my stomach (the onset of shark week). The black tea did the former with sturdy full flavour, the ginger did the latter with just a little bit of sweetness to lighten up the blend.

I’m . . . not sure how I feel about this tea, honestly. It smells like Buckley’s. Tastes like a sweet cough drop. But I feel better after drinking it. And it wasn’t terrible. Medicinal but not horrible. Don’t think I’ll restock, but this cup will stick with me until I figure out if I liked it or not.

Don’t usually reach for bagged teas, but spotted this at Bulk Barn last night and thought it looked promising. Plus: cute penguin on the package. Brewed up, this tea is okay. It has a kind of campfire smokiness that I would associate more with a pu’erh – like, it really smells like a campfire. Mild, slightly sweet flavour. Could go for a longer steep to get some more of the “natural black forest cupcake flavouring” to show up.

Made a cuppa after the need for caffeine had subsided enough for me to be able to chance a rooibos. I’m so glad I did! Usually I’m not a fan of rooibos – I find them overly woody or sticky sweet, but this one was neither! It’s a smooth creamy chocolatey tea – really tasty, actually. Reminds me of the cake teas from DT, or Read My Lips without the mint. I’m pondering including it on the restock list. It’s rate to find that kind of creamy full flavour that isn’t also full of caffeine.

I need all of this tea. ALL OF IT.

You misunderstand me. I am not asking for a large quantity of this tea, but all of this tea that is currently in the building. All of it.

It’s a smoky bergamotty Earl that stays away from sweet or tart. The Chinese green base is amazing, subtle and buttery. The candies are super-cute but will turn your infuser electric lime green (be warned).

drank Irish Pub by TeaTaxi

Drank this last night, actually, at the same time the wife did. We had very different experiences of it – for me I got a solid, slightly sweet black tea with very little flavour other than that of the tea itself, while she got the rum, coconut, and strawberry strongly throughout. Maybe it was because she added a bit of sweetener. Tasty, but not worth stocking up on.

drank Energized Awakening by TeaTaxi

First review, I feel so nervous.

We got our order of 20+ samples from TeaTaxi last night and I am so excited to dive into all of them. The box was so pink and cheerful, and there was a very nice little note inside that I had to have translated by my francophone coworker this morning. With an interminable staff meeting looming in front of me, I brewed this hoping it would live up to its name.

This is a strong black tea, very tasty, but just that – black tea. The delicate flavours of the almond and calendula disappeared completely. Maybe a shorter steep with the second half of my sample package would fend off that dark rich black flavour. It was very tasty, and so far seems to be living up to expectations of not letting me fall asleep on a pile of meeting notes. But I don’t know if I would be able to pick it out of a line-up, so to speak. So it’s not a restock.

drank Black Cherry by DAVIDsTEA

This tea is quickly becoming one of my go-tos. I just love it. A bright juicy burst from the cherry that isn’t overly sweet or tart, with a sturdy black base that always picks me up.

This made an amazing tea pop

De

How did you do tea pop? Brew a strong cup and then dilute it with carbonated water?

VariaTEA

I brewed about 4 perfect teaspoons in like 4 oz of water and poured it over ice (a 16 0z mug filled about 2/3 of the way with ice) then topped it up with carbonated water.

De

Sounds good, I might have to try it

drank Jungle Ju Ju by DAVIDsTEA

Disappointing cuppa. I got a lot of jungle and not a whole lot of ju ju. The guayusa was very strong – not really bitter, because it doesn’t get bitter, but just mildly unpleasant. No sweet kick from the fruit. Sad. Not a great cuppa.

Mmm yummy. After the barrage of chamomile last night I was worried, but this is such a just damn good cuppa. It’s a black tea first and foremost, a little smoky, a little astringent. The fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, etc add a pleasant little sweet back-end to it, but the black base is really the star.

Also I desperately need to do dishes – this used our last clean DT perfect mug and infuser. Ooops.

Even though I have 3 (technically 4, but anyways..) metal mesh infusers i always find they’re always in use lol. And dishes are ALWAYS needing to be done.

De

We’ve got about 20? or so? Perfect Mugs from DT, with infusers, and then a steeper, and a couple more infusers . . . not to mention the tea pots with infusers . . . and yet still we run out.

Kristal

Wow, you got me beat!

Mmmm. Tea. I have become a believer.

I like oolongs and greens, and dark smoky flavours. And Earl Greys. All the Earl Greys. I have bent my nerd powers to learning as much as I can about tea and tea culture. I have started to ramble about tea.

Tea. Mmmm.
