104 Tasting Notes

Cream of Earl Grey (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
61

For some reason, the last of this tea sample was just right. I finished this off today with a little regret. It was yummy and hit the spot. Oh, if only the shipping cost of David’s Tea wasn’t so high.

So that is smoky? At first it was kind of oily, in a “I smell petroleum jelly” way, but now I could definitely see someone calling this smoky. And woodsy, but not in a “I’m licking a block of wood way,” more like hmm, drinking by the fire. Interesting. Put in some creamer, and suddenly the smoke moves up, the woods fall back and the black tea taste comes forward.

I like this. Lots of interesting flavor.

Florence from Harney & Sons

I resteeped yesterday’s leaves with less water and a longer steeping time. I got a slightly more favorable product, but still not tasting the chocolate. The nuttiness is nice, but not what I’m expecting. I wonder if I’m doing this wrong somehow.

Florence from Harney & Sons

Again, great smelling tea, again kind of bland. I think I’m not used to Harney & Sons tea. I will definitely be increasing the steeping time next time. I thought I had put in enough for an extra large cup (~1.25 tsps), but the tea had no flavor when I drank it despite how it smelled when I strained it. Even adding creamer didn’t help.

Apple Cinnamon from Harney & Sons

Just got this and several other teas in the mail. Kind of plurged on tea samples this month. Anyway, the smell is amazing. However, the taste is a little bland. I think I may have used to much water and not enough tea. I wanted a nice big cup, and I think I over shot it.

Cream of Earl Grey (organic) from DAVIDsTEA

Yeah, with honey this is okay, but still not what I expect from an Earl Grey. Not that I’ll be ordering it anytime soon. Davids Tea has a rather high shipping rate for US orders, and I just don’t have that kind of cash. I guess, I’ll enjoy this while I can.

Finished the hazelnut creamer this morning. Really good cup of tea this morning to go with the cinnamon rolls.

The Earl's Garden from DAVIDsTEA
85

Finished up the last little bit I got from ladykittykat in trade. Definitely need to get some more. I guess it’s time to put in an order.

Wow, I had forgotten how good this was. A tsp of honey, and this went from blah to delicious. Definitly upping my rating.

Earl Grey Bravo from Adagio Teas

Found the envelope from the sample I bought in the bottom of the bowl. Lovely!

So I used a shorter steeping time and 1.5 tsps for a full Ingenuitea (~12 oz.). Couldn’t help adding the hazelnut creamer. And nice large cup of liquid deliciousness. I think I’ll be kind of glad when I use up the hazelnut creamer that got left here. It is far too good to be good for you.

Two tsps might be too much for even a full ingentuitea. Still, very tasty with the hazelnut creamer. I think this might be my fave until I can get some more of the Caravan Earl Grey from David’s Tea.

With hazelnut creamer, this is almost like drinking really expensive, nice, valentines day candy. Yum.

Ultimate Citrus Spice Flavored Black from 52teas

I made a large batch for iced tea and didn’t add sugar, because I never do, but that was wrong in this case. I think it would be very delicious if I had remembered sugar. Will try this one more time, because when iced, it smells almost like Juicy Fruit gum.

I used my ingenuitea to brew up five tsps in just over a cup of water, then I drained it into my tea pot and added enough water for five cups of tea, put it in the frig, and now have some bodacious cold tea. This stuff if fabulous.

True Blueberry from Celestial Seasonings
88

Hello! With summer coming, I’ve been trying to find a good iced tea, and I think I might have something with this one. I just need to let it cool. If I take it out too soon, the ice ruins the flavor by watering it down immediately.

Caravan Earl Grey (Pu-Erh) from DAVIDsTEA
84

Ladykittykatt sent me my first sample as part of a trade, and I have enjoyed this so much, I’m going to have to put in a rather large order at David’s Tea at the beginning of the month for this and Pink Flamingo.

Right now, I’m going to see how many steeps I can get from this last teaspoon.

Peppermint from Adagio Teas

Backlog — Lovely way of trying to open up my sinuses last night.

Ultimate Citrus Spice Flavored Black from 52teas

Backlog — Still not exactly what I wanted, but I think I found the best way of brewing this. Pretty nice at a four minute steep, but I don’t think I’m going to be getting more of this.

This was a bit bitter this morning. I tried 2 tsps of tea with a little extra water in a bid to try to bring out the citrus flavor, but it just made it more bitter. Not completely unpleasant, but it just still isn’t the what I want in an orange spiced tea.

I forgot just how good this was first thing in the morning.

Bear Trap from DAVIDsTEA
84

I kind of forgot how much I’ve loved tea in the last couple of weeks. Between TMI’s, I haven’t really been feeling the need for tea, but tonight, I just feel better than usual, so I decided on the the Bear Trap. And I’m glad I did. Just so yummy and tart. Definitely upping the score on this one just a bit.

I love this tea. I knew I would since I love the bloody orange herbal from adagio, but this is so much more. The orange and lemon flavors really do seem to piece together the white tea so well.

I used a heaping tsp and steeped for five minutes, but it was still on the weak side. I think next time I will use two tsps. I think a little stronger, and it will make a very fine iced tea.
