Well everybody, guess who’s a happy camper!!!! I purchased my first yixing! And a piggy tea pet <3 Merry Early Christmas to me!

Mandy said

Any plans for it yet?

It’s going to be for dark oolongs or for shu. I’m torn, I’m not sure yet!

boychik said

Which one? Xi Shi? Do you have a tea you are going to season it in mind?
Congrats!

Yep the Xi Shi! http://www.teavivre.com/xi-shi-yixing-clay-teapot/

I just crossed a milestone and I feel like I’m swimming in air.

Mandy said

More specific than my first (and only) one, I just went with the general category of (unflavored) oolong. I think for my birthday I’m going to get another one for shu, and I’ll season it with Mandala Special Dark.

That is a cute pot. I really want to get a yixing since I’m more into unflavored stuff now, but I’m leaning towards the yixing tea set Teavivre has with cups/strainer/fair cup included instead. Though I dunno how often I’d be using the cups. Lol.

boychik said

I think I wouldn’t use all those cups and simply don’t have space to store them. It looks like Xi Shi is a better quality but I may be wrong

I don’t I’d use the cups either. There’s no one who is at the same level of loving tea as I am.

I bought a small order of tea for this sale but I wonder, why was I charged shipping when they advertise “worldwide free shipping on orders over $30”? Still a reasonable price but deceptive?

I didn’t have any issue with the free shipping, they give you two options. One of them is faster shipping but it costs $5 or something, and the other is the free option.

Uniquity said

If you had hit refresh before processing your order it likely would have shown as free. With my order it showed a shipping charge despite being over $30. After a refresh, it came up properly. I suggest you contact Teavivre and I guarantee they will refund your shipping cost and likely provide something to make up for the error. This seems like an error on the site, likely one they don’t even know about.

looseTman said

Free shipping? My order was >$30 and I paid for shipping.

I did not refresh and my order displayed shipping charges, but once on paypal, it was at zero, so I did get free shipping in the end. Just like uniquity said, If you were charged, I’m sure they will refund you if you contact them. Angel usually looks up this thread and will probably notice your post anyways :-)

looseTman said

Was there some sort of special promotion that included shipping?

Unless I am mistaking, It’s always free over $30 looseTman…

boychik said

the question now was it $30 after gift card was applied?

AllanK said

No gift card.

looseTman said

Yes, >$30 after gift card was applied.

boychik said

i would send them an email.

Only the slowest option (regularly $3.90 I think) is free over $30USD. The faster option is always $5.90 despite the price. Perhaps you picked the faster option? Also, my order was over $30, but with the gift card it only came to $20 something and free shipping still showed up for me.

TeaVivre said

hi all, all orders over $30 are free shpping if you choose China POst Airmail. If you met some question, please feel free to contact us.

looseTman said

I’ve always selected the $5.90 option because it was “recommended”. I didn’t want a large order being being at > risk in the hot summer with a slower delivery. Was I being too over protective?

boychik said

i used to order with $5.9 but then i saw ppl with free ship got orders maybe couple days later than me. this summer is not hot;) so this time i chose free ship

Uniquity said

I’ve never paid for shipping with Teavivre. I do tend to have to wait about a month for it to arrive (rural Nova Scotia, Canada) but there has never been any damage or ill effect to my order or tea. In my experience, packages are handled carefully or carelessly at whim and the only difference with faster delivery is speed. If you’re lucky. Otherwise it’s about the same. I’m also contending with Canada Post though which is notoriously unreliable.

AllanK said

I did choose the USPS, but because the other came up at $3.90. Anyway, the woman from Teavivre said it was a glitch with Paypal charging for shipping. She offered to change it to free shipping. But as air mail can sometimes take three weeks to arrive I decided to keep the USPS.

Question- What is roselle? It’s in all the fruit blends, and I was curious.

It’s basically hibiscus.

TeaVivre said

Roselle is a herbal, and one ingredient of our fruits teas. It will not only used in teas, but also used in other foods. They are used as food colourings. If you want to know more details, please click this link:

I placed an order today. I used reward points to get some sale jasmine raw puerh tuochas and chrysanthemum ripe tuochas, too. I basically just had to pay for shipping. Thanks TeaVivre!!!

K S said

I got the jasmine raw touchas as well, and the lotus ones – along with some other stuff (more green tea powder and a bunch of samples).

I almost got the lotus ones! I’ve never had lotus so I am not sure if I would like them or not. I’m so intrigued by the jasmine. Hope we like them :)

K S said

I have not had the chrysanthemum. Perhaps a near future sample swap is in order?

Yes! That sounds great :D

Is it recommended that I season a yixing a second time with tea leaves? Or that optional?

jschergen said

Definitely optional.

boychik said

Big fan. I’m watching TeaDB daily. Thank you for your wonderful videos and articles

jschergen said

Thanks for the kind words. Glad you’ve been enjoying our content :)!

Thank you!

TeaVivre said

Hello,
I don’t know what you used for the first time. And the recommended process to season a yinxing, is to season it with water in the first time, and then with tea leaves.

I am determined to do this Puerh thing. So tell me, other than the form, what is the difference in:
Ripened Aged Pu-erh Mini Tuocha
and
Ripened Aged Loose Pu-erh Tea

I’ve never tasted those two. If you want to get into pu you should let me give you some samples to try some time :)

I’m surprised that one thread didn’t scare you off! hehe

I figure anything that I buy and don’t like will find a good home in Evansville!

I am always willing to take in orphaned puerh, and anything from TeaVivre really LOL

boychik said

Between the two I would go with loose. Mini tuocha is very convenient but I think you may like loose more . Loose generally better quality leaves while mini will be chopped. Or get them both, they are cheap.

I actually do have both in my cart, the rose ones and the chrysanthemum ones. What else should I get?

Are you just interested in shu right now? The Fengqing ones are good, but I guess the samples aren’t on sale and you probably don’t want to blind buy a whole cake.

boychik said

I had Menghai Palace Ripe cake 2008 couple days ago and I really like it. Very clean and smooth. No off smell , rich taste. Did you get those anniversary samples? One of those

Stephanie I have no idea, I figured since it keeps I can think ahead a bit. Boychik, that’s a good idea and I do have that one, I’ll take off work a little early and try it out.

boychik said

Marzipan, you have to try a lot to figure out what you like and if you like pu. Don’t dismiss it on a first try. Once I get back home I can send you a pu package 123 if you like. I have to continue one special person legacy and spread the love of puerh. But be careful, it is so addictive. That’s all you gonna think about
