I had high hopes for this one. I love the bergamot on the Earl Grey Chocolate and I thought this couldn’t go wrong with a keemun base. It’s hard to tell the base is keemun here, especially with such a light brew. I’m just simply not a fan of the bergamot used in this one. It’s sadly the bergamot I don’t like at all, though tough to describe (so I’ll just keep repeating that I don’t like it?) It’s also very drying to the mouth. Not my bergamot, not my blend! I’m picky with bergamot. If it works, it’s amazing. When it doesn’t work, it really doesn’t work. On to the sale list this goes.
Steep #1 // 1heaping teaspoon for a full mug// 16 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 4 minute steep

To me, bergamot can range from being more citrusy to being more floral. I tend to prefer the citrusy sort.
I wondered why there some earl greys that I like and others I don’t. It’s gotta be the citrusy vs floral because I don’t care for too floral teas.
Yeah, if bergamot goes a bit too far into the aromatic floral end of the spectrum, it can taste a bit like perfume to me…

I probably like both citrus AND floral bergamot…. but this one… TO ME tastes like mosquito spray, and that I just can not do.
