Tea of the Week for June 22, 2020!

This is a cuppa yum! Roasty-toasty, organic Genmaicha blended with cinnamon pieces & chunks of banana, plus vanilla bean & marshmallow root. It’s sweet, warm & delightfully toasty, a little bit creamy & deliciously banana-y!

It’s VEGAN, organic, gluten-free, allergen-free & yummy!

organic ingredients: green tea, popped rice, bananas, cinnamon, marshmallow root, vanilla bean & natural flavors

This tea had kind of an unusual beginning. My first thought was to create a snickerdoodle genmaicha blend. But after my first taste test, I had a weird thought & said, you know what this blend needs? Banana! Hence, a cinnamon banana blend was born.

Yeah, blending sometimes goes like that. I have an idea, & somewhere along the line, another idea emerges. It has happened with many blends I’ve created. I guess that’s the thing with being a mad tea artist. I can create something – & really, the blend can come out really quite nicely. The snickerdoodle one is like that. It came out pleasantly enough but my taste buds just weren’t feeling it when I tasted it. It tasted really good but I wasn’t feeling it – the truth is that I probably just wanted a banana tea.

Let’s face it, is there ever a WRONG time for a banana tea? I mean, come on!

to brew: give this blend a good shake before you measure it. I say that a lot, I know. But this one has a lot of ingredients in it – banana, cinnamon, marshmallow root, vanilla bean … not to mention the genmaicha tea – & it’s important to get those ingredients well-incorporated throughout. measure out 2 1/2 grams (if you want a stronger flavor, go with 3 grams. I used 2 1/2 grams & it creates a light tea that’s really ideal for the summer, I think, but if you’re looking for a stronger flavor, definitely go with the 3g.) heat 12 ounces of freshly filtered, cold water to 175°F & allow to steep for 2 minutes. strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. enjoy!

This blend tastes wonderful hot or iced. I find that a little bit of sugar brings out the flavors a bit more – but it’s really nice unsweetened too.

C is for… Cinnamon Banana Genmaicha!

This initially smelled way too toasty, but I’m drinking it a few hours after steeping and it’s actually pretty good. The banana is pretty light, but it’s present, alongside some mild creaminess and of course, the toasted, slightly mariney genmaicha base. I’m not detecting any cinnamon, interestingly.

June 2020 Tea

My staple oat bran breakfast porridge usually consists of cinnamon and bananas. This tea tastes a little like that as well as a fun take on a rice pudding. Not bad at all!

Quick review. Busy day hehe.
Yum. Cinnamon, banana, toasted rice. Nice balance too.

Steepster was down for a week for me, now it loads but it’s sloooow for some reason. As long as it doesn’t hang, I’m good. Glad it’s back.

Mmmmmmm. The banana 52Teas uses is the best. The cinnamon is pretty mild, but the absolutely delicious combination of banana and toasted rice is more than enough flavor.

This was one of our teas from June – it started out as a cinnamon, vanilla & marshmallow genmaicha (sort of a ‘snicherdoodle’ type of flavor) however, after my first taste test, I determined that what this blend needed was some bananas.

I like the blend a lot more with the bananas. It tasted good as a snickerdoodle – but – it just – was missing something for me and clearly, what it was missing was bananas. The cinnamon warm and slightly spicy as a wave of soft vanilla and marshmallow root peek through and then I get a hit of sweet banana. Really tasty.
