I’m generally skeptical when it comes to bagged tea, especially when it comes to bagged Oolong. Oolong usually expands more when it brews than other tea types, and it needs adequate room to fully express itself.

However, I was very happy after I steeped this tea and saw that there was still room to spare in the pyramid sachet. It gave me hope that the tea would be tasty.

And it is. It has a pleasant, smooth flavor, with a touch of smoke and a nice roasted fruit flavor … as if someone took peaches and apricots and roasted them to concentrate their sweetness … that’s what I taste here. Very enjoyable, a soft texture and a light flavor that is well-balanced and nicely round.

Call me crazy…but…I really like this bagged tea…

CRAZY!

Anyhow…It’s a nicely flavored Peachy/Apricoty Oolong in a bag! It’s tasty, slightly juicy, and fresh! I think it’s quite nifty!

After completely ruining a pot of loose green tea yesterday, I crankily dumped the whole mess and decided to go for simplicity in a sachet. This is a nice bagged oolong; I didn’t get much on the fruit/apricot side, but the safflower and marigold gave it a nice sunny disposition. Which helped mine a bit.

I ordered this to go with my desserts PF Changs tonight. They serve it in a cast iron tea pot there which is pretty cool. BUT sadly it’s a pyramid bag, happily it’s loose leaf in said bag. Our server Tim brought out two cups with the tea and my husband gave it a shot! I was pretty surprised. I was more surprised when he asked for a second cup!

This was pretty good. I could really taste the apricot in this Oolong which I liked. But I wasn’t really tasting the Oolong in the tea. My husband liked that it was a mild tea, at least mild to him. I didn’t like that they left the bag in and b/c of this the tea got a little too strong and dark. It started as a light color and got closer to amber before I was able to get the bag out of the pot.

I enjoyed teaching my husband a little more about tea while we sipped. :)

I wanted a fruity tea this afternoon, and this one jumped out of my samples box at me. I picked this tea up with an assortment of other Revolution Tea sachets back at the beginning of May at a truck stop of all places. The dry leaf on this one smells really peachy. I can see through the sachet that the oolong is accompanied by a bunch of flower petals.

I went ahead and brewed this a full five minutes because if I recall correctly my experience with the other teas from this company was that they were a bit weak. The aroma is oolong-y; it says on the pouch that it’s a green oolong, but it smells more like a dark one to me, with a faint roasty aroma. The fruity peach notes are there in the background.

It may smell like a dark oolong (and look like one, from what I can see through the sachet), but it certainly has the leafy, vegetal taste of a green oolong. The peach/apricot flavor remains in the background of the flavor, subtley boosting the oolong itself. I peach flavors can taste medicinal to me sometimes, but this is a true, juicy fresh peach flavor (perhaps because it’s not over-flavored in the first place). I don’t get any ginger from this one, though it says it has some on the packet. I’m pleasantly surprised; I wasn’t expecting much out of this one, but it turned out pretty good after all.

was looking for moderate body, low caffeine, and no overpowering sweetness in my tea this afternoon. Found it in this blend from a Revolution sampler pack (bagged). Not sure how or why it smelled like mint chocolate when dry, but it resolved into a safflower peachy oolong smell as it brewed. Tastes slightly sweet, slightly smoky, and with the faint peach/apricot hint in the background like other notes describe. Very natural and clean tasting. I would drink it again. Also, I think it would be good with asian food (some people mentioned having it at PF changs). Now I wish I’d waited to make this cup with my planned beef & edamame stir fry for dinner :( alas I only have one bag. Silly sampler!

ps – lost track of time and majorly oversteeped (should be 4-5 min) but it doesn’t seem to be a problem! Yay!

I’ve been brain-dead all day (maybe due to lack of tea?) Hopefully this will help salvage my evening. Tastes wonderful – almost musky? (somehow purfumey without being flowery)

Wanted something simple upon returning home. A nice comforting cup that doesn’t require thought and will hopefully assist in the digestion of all the bad-for-me things I ate this week!

opened the sachet and brewed in a basket since the leaves always seem so cramped. These are some big, whole leaves! The flavor is definitely stronger this way.

I drank this last night at PF Chang’s. Normally I don’t bother to log the teas I drink in restaurants, but this oolong was so good that it deserved an honorable mention. I didn’t think to ask for the brand while at the restaurant, but thanks to the magic of Google I was able to track it down.

Revolution Tea uses pyramid-shaped bags for their teas, and the Dragon Eye Oolong is packed full of fruity goodness. I was really impressed with it; normally you can tell right away if a tea is bagged or loose just based on the strength of the flavor, but I had to open up the teapot and confirm visually because it tasted so good.

It was a balanced tea that was quite peachy, with a bit of tartness that I attribute to the apricot. Compared to many peach teas I’ve had, which tend to be super-sweet with an aftertaste of orange rind (several American brands) or cloying, Dragon Eye Oolong had a more adult flavor. More subdued. More smoky?

Anyway, quite good. I plan to buy this one soon.

I think what I’ve learned on steepster today is that there is a restaurant called P.F. Chang’s- actually, I do think I remember passing by it in Chicago when I lived there. That said, I am actually drinking this at home as part of a Revolution sampler pack (love sampler packs…) Dragon Eye is a really nice oolong, with just a hint in it of what tastes like peach- but just a hint. It really is very relaxing somehow, and I’m glad that I wound up inadvertently trying it among my miscellaneous samples. I’m about to sound like a broken record here, but this’d be a really good iced tea.

I’m not sure a strawberries n’ cream Kitkat from Japan would ever be a recommended pairing with this, but I went ahead and took that risk anyway. When I went to the Tea tastings at Tea Gschwendner they frequently gave us pieces of Vosges chocolates to go with whatever tea we were sipping. My husband thought the chocolate blunted the tea too much, but I loved the combination.

I’m really sorry for not being so active lately — my tea budget has dried up and I’ve been drinking tea more for the caffeine than for flavor nowadays.

Anyway, I’ve also noticed that I like to put milk in everything I can — especially oolongs. This will probably annoy some people here on Steepster, but really, it brings out the flavor, especially for this tea. I bought this tea as a little stocking stuffer for my sister about two years back, so it’s old and probably not as tasty as getting a fresh bag. However, straight from the box, it had a flowery, warm scent which was similar when brewing. The taste without milk was slightly malty, round, and warm. There were some nice middle notes of what I can only describe as “Asteraceae-like,” which probably means that it was the safflower. With milk, it was easier to taste the warm oolong and sweet peach notes.

I liked this tea, especially with milk. …I think I should revisit it, though, with a fresher sample…

This was a much needed boost to start a very long day that is not yet over. It was also the first time I used my new mighty leaf to go mug. This tea was quite delicous! It smelled very inviting and fruity in the bag. I burned my tongue like three times trying to drink it too fast. It tasted very oolongy with a hint of fruity. A nice treat for the morning. The mug worked well too the outside stayed cool which was important in today’s ridiculous heat and it kept my tea hot all the way through my first class. Looking forward to another relaxing cup of tea to wind down tonight.

Had a yummy cup of this when I got home from classes today. Accompanied by strawberries and a chocolate truffle! A lovely afternoon snack!

Brought this to work today. It is a really great tea for that. You can really abuse it and it still tastes good :) Today I accidentally ripped the bag so I had to throw out the bottom of my mug but it was still a nice little pick me up. Now I only have to decide what tea to have when I get home :)

I had this this morning before I was off to work with a balance bar. For some reason that pairing went nicely together. It was an excellent way to start off the day!

Revolution has some very high-quality bagged teas, and this is my favorite (the other really great one is their Honeybush Caramel). This oolong has some very roasty qualities – it goes down very hearty and hale – but a strong aftertaste of sweet apricot. Went through a phase where this was all I would drink in the afternoons; it’s perfect for the fall. Yum.

A coworker gave me this yesterday, the tea she always drinks when she goes to PF Chang. It came in a tiny little cardboard box! Very cute package design.

The tea is quite good – the peach & apricot really come through. I’m not getting the smokey taste that the package and other people mention, but that’s all right. I’m not sure what effect the safflower & marigold have on it – I’m not sure that I’ve had a tea with them in it before.

I would definitely drink this again. I had it with 2 packets of splenda. The sweet definitely brings out the fruit.

My one gripe, but it’s not specific to this tea, happens with a lot of teabags… that moment when you add the water to the cup and the string and tag get pulled into the cup… grrr!

First found at PF Chang’s Chinese Bistro.

Many things can be done while enjoying tea.

The second most important is spending time thinking about life. Your job, your soul, your significant other, your money.

The first most important thing is not.

My favorite oolong, I drink while I clean. So many things accumulated here that will now be better served by being moved to the Dumpster. I’ll try not to do this again.

I liked the look and feel of this before I even brewed it. Real, whole-leaf tea in a bag, that I can actually feel the texture of as opposed to little tiny bits of fragments and dust! The smell was nice as well.

After brewing, the tea is a lovely amber color and medium-bodied. The taste is very good oolong, with a touch of peach and apricot that isn’t overly sweet. I savored my cup and will be saving the bag for a resteep. I have a feeling it will hold up well. :)

This tea greatly surprised me; I picked it up from a truck stop in St. Louis, MO on my way to the airport after running out of all the tea I’d brought with me on the trip. I purchased it alongside several other pouches of Revolution varieties and tried it third or fourth in line, expecting it to have the same mediocre steep I’d gotten out of the others. Not so!

The apricot and safflower flavors dominate the taste of this infusion, while the lovely floral scent was strong enough to get the stewardess to ask me what I was drinking – from a window seat! The oolong flavor is much less smoky/roasty than you’d expect looking at it, and comes through strong under the fruit flavors to be one of the more satisfying bagged teas I’ve yet to try.

I discovered Revolution Tea at a restaurant in Uptown Minneapolis. Since then I have become a regular customer to their website (have an order in transit right now!). I love this Oolong. It’s mild and not too sweet. It is my very favorite iced tea. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the pot sized canisters on the website for my last order, so I had to order the regular size. Oh, well. That way, if I just want a cup, I can have a cup!

I also discovered this tea at PF Changs restaurant. Oolong is a newer taste experience for me. I found that I really liked this particular tea. The larger pyramid bags (makes a whole pot) were quite convenient. The flavor has a hint of smokiness without acidity and a little sweetness. Very pleasant.

I drank this at PF Chang’s tonight. It’s OK. It started out earthly with light fruity flavors but as the pot sat the fruity began to take over in flavor. I don’t think that I live peach very much in my tea.
