I’ve been using this to coconutify my other teas. Plum and coconut? Yum. Caramel and coconut? Also yum. Probably going to try it with my chai and cucumber tea, too.

drank Caramel & Rum by Lupicia
735 tasting notes

This was a freebie in my last Lupicia order… my last ever, I should say. I went back a couple days ago and everything was sold out. Sigh. RIP.

My first thought when I saw the sachets was “Oh no… rooibos.” Luckily I had some coffee before work, so I got my caffeine fix. Otherwise, this would be quite the disappointment. I need that buzz to continue to adult!

The aroma is very rum-like. So much that I worry my boss might smell it and get suspicious. I am also smelling buttery caramel and maybe coconut? Yum. It makes me think of a sweet after-dinner nightcap. Once it cools, I taste straight up butterscotch. This doesn’t taste alcoholic at all. Just smells like it. No, the flavor is so smooth and caramelly. I’m also getting notes of vanilla, and yes, coconut. And maybe eggnog or something? The rooibos flavor is there, but it compliments the sweets. I really like this and am sad it’s the only time I’ll get to enjoy it.

Damn Lupicia for constantly making me rethink my rooibos prejudices!

Finished up the Constant Comment! Goodbye, winter tea. I used my last bag with three tsp of Joy’s Teaspoon’s Spicy Pear. It’s… not very good. The cinnamon is so fake and bitter. It’s tolerable, though. Joy’s Teaspoon just wasn’t that great, I have to say. I see why it went under when we have so many better choices. I’ll make Spicy Pear one more time, and if I don’t like it, I’ll probably pitch it.

I liked the Joy’s Teaspoons I had back in the day… but haven’t had any of their teas in a while.

Decided to blend myself a sweet dessert tea for breakfast. It’s Friday and I deserve a treat. I took 1 part Pinky Up’s Coconut Creme with Flowers and one part Kusmi’s Caramel.

It’s wonderful. A creamy, coconutty, sweet and savory caramel tea. The caramel aroma sits in my nose and reminds me of Werther’s Originals. I hate that I keep coming up with these delicious blends with discontinued teas, though! I can make this maybe two more times and then it’s gone forever.

drank White Rose by Tea Fiori (Sips by)
735 tasting notes

This is from my February Sips by box. A rose tea for Valentine’s Day. I’m a bit late, but that’s life.

There are lots of rose petals mixed with this white tea. It’s very pretty. I’m also seeing not rose hips, but the naked bud before it becomes a rose hip. I’m not sure what that’s called. A rose butt? Dry, the tea smells rosy and peppery, with faint notes from the bai mu dan if you really feel for them.

Flavor wise, this is of course very mild. I am tasting something like mint that I didn’t expect. Rose is probably the strongest flavor, but I use the word “strong” generously. The peppery smell is in the taste as well. All around, I’m not really liking this. It’s very light and very boring. The bai mu dan notes are green and nice, but not really enough for me to be interested in making this again. Meh. This is a miss.

drank Coconut Creme by Pinky Up

Couple things before I review this — the leaves do not look like they do in the picture. There is a downright crazy amount of coconut shavings in this. Like each teaspoon is about half tea, half squiggly pieces of coconut. Wow. The flowers described in the name seem to be cornflower, calendula, and chamomile. I can see coconut and chamomile going together.

Second, this tea isn’t listed on Pinky Up’s website. I only see it on Amazon. Have I found yet another discontinued tea? That would be my luck lately.

Anyway, it smells like coconut paradise. I absolutely love coconut, so I am more than excited. The tea brews up pale and greenish. It smells like dessert in the best way. There is a tiny bit of coconut oil floating on the surface, but nothing like 52 Teas’ coconut flavors. As far as taste goes, it’s everything I had hoped it would be. So creamy, with notes of vanilla. It’s like coconut cream pie filling.

I can’t wait to try this iced. It’s definitely a winner. Possibly the best coconut tea I’ve had to date.

EDIT: Coming back to say that I am kinda getting a weird chlorine note. Not sure if it was my preparation or my cup or what. I might dock a few points for that if I taste it again next time.

EDIT 2: I made this over ice last weekend and there was no chlorine note. It was just pure coconut bliss.

The way you’re describing this seems really familiar. I don’t know anything about Pinky Up, but I wonder if it’s a blend sourced from one of the bigger companies and repackaged?

Tabby

Ooh, if you figure it out, lemme know! I’m curious about that.

Kittenna

No pic on here, but I think this is what I was thinking of:
https://steepster.com/teas/t-by-daniel/71356-vanilla-coco-loco
https://www.tbydaniel.com/collections/white-tea/products/vanilla-coco-loco

or possibly a previous offering from DavidsTea.

You can tell by the tasting notes that Coco Loco is a fave of a few people – perhaps worth trying, especially if you can’t get your hands on more of this!

Tabby

Huh, this does look super similar! It’s even the same price. I’m making a face at them for their “toxins” and “detox” nonsense, but I’ll keep this in mind if mine disappears! Thank you!

Kittenna

Yes…. I’m so over this silly health benefits crap, and it annoys me that so many companies seem to be going that direction (e.g. DavidsTea has wellness blends, Amoda is full-on wellness stuff afaik). Luckily, I don’t think there’s any funny stuff in these teas specifically for “health”, they’re just touting the benefits of the white tea, I assume (so mostly a marketing scheme).

This has turned into a new Sipdown target. I saw my first crocus blooming yesterday, so it’s time to get all the spiced, heavy, winter teas out of the stash. Should have this one gone by next week, as much as I love it.

I miss iced tea!

Gave my packet a good shake this morning to try to mix up the vanilla. It seems to have worked. This time I am tasting more vanilla with my toast notes. It’s still not as creamy as I remember, but it’s also still better than any tea in my collection. Whispering Pines really is worth the money.

drank Dawn by Turmeric Teas
735 tasting notes

The turmeric trend continues to find its way into my Sips by box.

I love the way this tea smells. Turmeric and cinnamon take the lead in the aroma. I see a very large amount of cinnamon chips and ginger root, but also some unusually big cardamom pods that have been sliced in a + shape. I guess that’s to help release the flavor.

Since I only had 4 teaspoons of this tea, I didn’t add milk. I use a 24-ounce tumbler, and I was afraid that it wouldn’t be strong enough. I was right, I believe. The flavor is just fine without the milk. Turmeric takes the lead, with ginger and cinnamon next. I really like the cinnamon they used. Reminds me of a snickerdoodle. However, I think I just don’t love turmeric. I find it kind of medicinal and off-putting. Like ginger’s ugly cousin. It leaves me wishing this was a regular chai, because if it was, it would be perfect.

EDIT: This turned the inside of my tumbler a gross shade of yellow. I hope it washes out easily…

I’m not a fan of turmeric in tea, either. It’s a bit too earthy or something.

Sipdown! I’ll be missing this one. It will probably be the reason for my next Harney & Sons order…

FYI: Just learned they have the old Paris blend called Vieux Paris. Not sure which blend of it you like!

Oh my gosh! I thought I knew everything about Oaris by Harney but this is DEFINITELY going on my next order!
