15 Tasting Notes

Organic Silver Needle White Tea (Bai Hao Yin Zhen) from Teavivre
80

Thank you Teavivre for this incredible sample!

Dry this tea smells beautiful. Like fresh cut hay on a summer day!

Brewed this tea tastes incredible. This is my second white tea I’ve ever had and I must say I’m extremely impressed. This tea gives me an immediate floral note with a deep and rich honey aftertaste. I can also taste a distinct note of hay which is very neat as I’ve NEVER had that note in a tea before. Can’t wait to see what other notes I taste in further steepings!

All in all, this is a great white tea, and I can recommend it if you like grassy, hay like notes in tea!

Lapsang Souchong Smoky Black Tea (Yan Xun Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong) from Teavivre
95

Another knockout hit for TeaVivre! SWEET!

Before I start, thank you TeaVivre for this terrific sample!

The dry tea smells exactly like a campfire in the middle of autumn. It feels and smells like roasting hot dogs on a fire, making smores, and everything wonderful about the autumn season.

This tea is insanely good! It gives the impression of a regular tea at first sip and then envelops your tastebuds in a primal smoky flavor that lingers in your mouth well after the liquid goes down your throat. This is my first smoked tea (although a blend I had previously had a hint of Lapsang in it if I recall correctly) and I love it.

I’ve heard from many people here that Lapsang is essentially a hit or miss tea for anyone that tries it. This is without a doubt a homerun for me, a tea that I must get very soon.

Organic Hangzhou Tian Mu Qing Ding Green Tea from Teavivre
95

Thank you TeaVivre for this FANTASTIC sample!

Oh my goodness this tea is exquisite! The dry smell is of a buttery green bean with a silky smoothness added to it. I can’t wait to brew this up!

Brewed this tastes exactly like it smells. Of a deep, rich green bean with a smooth and silky butteriness. I am absolutely in love with this tea. Absolutely in love with it. I’ll have to order some of this because it is just amazing.

Overall this tea is an extremely vegetal beautiful tea with a buttery flavor to accompany it. I highly recommend it!

Balade a Shanghai from Nina's Paris
75

Thank you Nina’s Paris for this fantastic sample!

The dry leaf has an intoxicating spearmint fragrance that is absolutely fantastic. I love spearmint things so I’m assuming already that I’ll thoroughly enjoy this tea.

Yummy! It’s a refreshing, soothing tea. Something that I’d imagine would be wonderful iced for a warm spring day. This is a perfect “de-stressing” tea, because to me, spearmint helps me relax!

Je t'aime from Nina's Paris

Thank you so much Nina’s Paris for providing me with this tasty sample!

The dry leaf smells intensely of creamy, decadent caramel with a lovely vanilla note added in. It smells like a fantastic tea to begin with!

You can taste the base black tea which is already a good base to begin with. I am getting an amazing caramel aftertaste that lingers and transforms into a vanilla aftertaste. This is good stuff!

Pineapple Upside Down Cake from Della Terra Teas
100

The PINNACLE of delectable teas. The gooey-est, butteriest, most fantastic tea I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying. THE PERFECT TEA. This is the only tea I’ve ever had that I’ll give a complete 100 rating for! This is my first tasting note for Pineapple Upside Down Cake but NOT the first time I’ve had this tea. I’ve had this tea many, many times before! I’m rambling because I can’t say enough good things about this tea. Perfect 100!

Laoshan Black from Verdant Tea
80

EDIT: Lowering my rating a bit from a 95 to an 80. I was so excited to brew this initially and I think I might have looked into the tea a bit too much. The notes I found before seem to be hiding from me now (chocolate, sweet cinnamon) and I’m just tasting regular tea now. Quite disappointing. :(

BELOW IS MY REVIEW FOR MY INITIAL FIRST STEEP BEFORE MY EDIT:

What a nice tea! Got my order today and I immediately opened up the nice little pouch Verdant’s tea comes in and got started making some!

Mm, the smell of the dry leaves is INTOXICATING! It smells intensely of rich, creamy dark chocolate.

I brewed this up Western style as I heard from other peoples’ tasting notes here that Western style was the best way in which to brew Laoshan Black.

The wet leaves smell exactly like dark chocolate still, and at this point I can’t wait for my cup to cool so I could take a sip!

The taste is phenomenal, chocolatey of course with a rich creamy aftertaste left in your mouth. Wait, what is that lingering note on the back of my throat? SWEET CINNAMON!

YUM. What a great tea!

I noticed that the more times I make a certain tea the more that the different notes really pop and come out, so I’m looking forward to having more of this tea so I can taste more of the notes!

I can’t wait to have another brew of this which will most likely be really, really soon!

Autumn Harvest Laoshan Green from Verdant Tea
95

What a fantastic green tea!

Early steeps are reminiscent of pumpkin or squash, automatically transferring you to the middle of a pumpkin patch in a large field. This is a tea that requires you to slow down and think about each steep instead of rushing about or having a “to go” cup.

Later steeps (6+) are that of a buttery cream, leaving a beautiful taste in your mouth.

It’s amazing to me how over the course of several steeps a tea can unfold and reveal different layers each equally as good as the prior, just different!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookie from Della Terra Teas
95

This is one of my favorite teas! I personally feel it is one of the standards of flavored tea! (This and Pineapple Upside Down Cake!) I love this tea. You can immediately taste the brown sugar with a hint of vanilla once you swallow. It’s absolutely terrific and I hope it’s permanently kept in Della Terra’s arsenal of teas.
I’m on my second steep of it now and it tastes just as good as the first! The flavors definitely hold up to multiple steepings!

Captivating Crimson Orange from Della Terra Teas
75

This tisane is BEAUTIFUL. Have you ever had those gummy candies that are shaped like oranges? This is EXACTLY what this tea reminds me of! I’m sipping on my second cup of it now. (Well soon to be second cup as soon as it cools!) This is a tasty tisane that titillates your taste buds. (See what I did there?! :P) The orange flavor really POPS and a slight sour-y (good sour not bad!) sweet taste pops in your mouth and makes for a fantastic drink. Definitely re-order worthy for me!

Snow Fairy from Della Terra Teas
85

I LOVE THIS TEA! It’s a beautiful, sincere, delicious cup of white/green tea. You can taste the beautiful buttery-ness of white tea along with the gorgeous vanilla flavor that goes along with it. I love this tea and I highly recommend it! I’m actually going to go back and get a second cup here very soon!! :)

Elderberry White Tea from Whispering Pines Tea Company
80

This is the first white tea I’ve tried, and I must say I LOVE it! It has a smooth, buttery taste and a lovely earthy “tea” smell (obviously lol!) to it.
This is SUCH a beautiful tea and I highly recommend it. 95/100 all the way!
Going to go back to enjoying my mug of it now! :)

Earl Grey Creme from Della Terra Teas
85

The smell of this tea is so intoxicating!
Brewed a pot of this this morning since I woke up early because of daylight savings. I must say, this tea is FANTASTIC! This is the first Earl Grey tea I’ve tried and the creme flavor compliments this tea and adds to its perfection.

Swiss Mountain from Della Terra Teas
85

One of my FAVORITE dessert teas! As posted in my testimony for DellaTerra and the review on their website, this tea allows me to “hang glide down the Andes Mountains”! I love this tea and when I have it for dessert I add 2 teaspoons of sugar into it. (which may be TOO sweet for some people, but I use this tea just like an after dinner dessert so I add a lot of sugar!) :) I love DellaTerra and this is one of my personal favorites, along with a couple others that I’ll post tasting notes for soon.

Zen Master from Whispering Pines Tea Company
80

Mm, BLISS.
That’s all I can say about this tea, it’s fantastic! The scent of Eucalyptus overwhelms you (in a GOOD way) and floats you off onto a distant, blissful planet. This tea wasn’t for waking up for me personally, it’s for relaxing. Even though this tea has Yerba Mate, this tea relaxes me and allows all of those pleasant ‘feel good feelings’ to go through me while I sit and relax. I may be a little weird though, because caffeine has the opposite effect on me then it does on other people. Caffeine makes me relaxed and SLEEPY! So that could be why this tea relaxes me. Nonetheless, this tea is very good and I’d recommend it!
