Peach Fuzz Chai

White Tea by 52teas

Here’s a tongue-tantalizing blend of premium white teas, dried peaches, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, clove and black peppercorns with natural flavors. My wife thought we should call it Peaches & Herb after the disco duo. All of our younger customers are now thinking, “Who????” which is why I decided to go with Peach Fuzz Chai. If you want a tea that will make you want to shake your groove thing, well, here it is.

Oh YEAH!!! This one smells AWESOME! I’m on a white tea kick since the closet flooding episode last night. This is going to be an incredible feast of chai and white tea!

Just the aroma alone is amazing. The taste? HEAVEN!!! I agree with others that the peach is a very subtle flavor and easily overlooked. It lends a slightly fruity, sweet taste to the nuttiness of the base. But the most prominent flavor is the chai spices. Oh, and what a perfect balance of spices too!

This is a soft and quiet chai. It’s not in-your-face spicy, but rather creeps up on you softly and makes you wonder what exactly you’re drinking. I don’t mean to say it’s diluted though. It’s not watery; it’s just a soft flavor.

I LOVE THIS!!! My kitty seems to like it too. He keeps sticking his nose in my cup and inhaling the yummy aroma. Doesn’t seem to want to give it a lick though. Silly kitty. Thank you so much to Kittenna for sharing a sample with me! I wish I wouldn’t have skipped this one when it was released. Yet another winner from 52teas!

Another sample from Krystaleyn! Yummy! I’m really kicking butt in trying a bunch of new teas today! go me!

This particular tea is delicious! I cold brewed this cause who can drink hot tea in weather like this?! (Says the girl who just had hot soup for dinner) I’m really liking the balance of spices here! A lot of times, chais use too much of one thing or another, but this one is just perfect! The cardamom and the cinnamon and the yummy white base that is almost milky.

And, the slightly fruitiness of the peach. It’s only lightly peachy. I think if I didn’t know it was flavored, I would have thought that the peachiness was an inherent quality in the tea. Though I don’t usually get peach notes from a white tea. Very very tasty.

Despite cold brewing, I’m getting quite a caffeine kick from this. I can only imagine how I’d feel if I had hot brewed this. White teas are definitely morning teas.

Another from my box from LiberTEAS! I tend to be wary of peach teas since the flavor can come out very artificial, but I trust 52teas to blend up a juicy chai so I decided to make this today. I iced it the lazy way, aka let the cup sit out until it was cold enough to put ice in. I usually take chai hot but it felt like a peach version would be better cold. I tried a sip when it was still warm and I definitely prefer the iced version!

This is not overly peachy, but has a nice juice-like quality. It doesn’t really feel like a chai to me though, more like a spiced peach drink. There are certain flavors that I associate with chai—particularly clove and ginger—that I am not picking up. They are listed in the ingredients, but I am really only getting up the cardamom. The white base isn’t that strong either, so there’s not really a stand-out flavor. It’s good but too mild all-around for my taste: a pleasant enough cup, but perhaps too soft.

I like this one alright. Sweet and spicy, the peach tones seem to come in a while after I’ve started sipping, and then come in strong at the aftertaste. It’s not as peachy as I would have expected, but, I like the spices at the level that they are, so I don’t think I’d trade some spiciness for more peach. I think some star anise would be good though.

Anyway, this one is alright, not my fave, but, certainly a good one.

I am having one last cup of this chai this evening before I send the rest of it to my SororiTea Sister. A decent cup… but as I said before, I think some anise would be really nice in here.

My mom bought some of this and wanted me to show her how to make it, even though I gave her all sorts of info ages ago, and she still doesn’t make anything! So I thought I’d show her with this one because I wanted to try it out.

We ended up having it iced, and I think that made it even better. It smells so good both as dry leaf and steeped. It isn’t too spicy, so since I’m not big into chai I found it to be perfect. The peach flavor is good, and the flavor just works perfect.

Merry Christmas!

This is a backlog from yesterday. Since my mom never drinks this, I decided I’d have myself a big cup. But I took a nap while waiting for it to cool, so instead I drank it cold. And it was really good that way…though I think the last time I had it we had it chilled too. It’s fruity and not too spiced, and I may just take it home with me because she’ll never notice it’s gone…

Thanks AGAIN Liberteas

It smells kind of crusty but also slightly peachy and spicy.

On the tongue – it’s more spicy than peach but the white tea base is pretty unique and powerful for a white, that is.

Overall this is a good one. The flavors work nicely with each other. Pretty good!

Wow, a bit of deja-vu here. Of course, when one brews up multiple teas at a time and doesn’t do something clever like label them, they need to smell them to tell them apart, which usually works with flavoured teas. So anyways, sniffed this one tonight and was thoroughly confused for a moment, because it smelled exactly like the Coconut Cream Chai from Tealish I’ve been sampling the last couple of days. I’m not sure if it’s just the chai flavours or what, but I would have expected a difference between peach and coconut.

The dry tea smells more like a fruity sort of chai. Not distinctly peach, just fruity. With a strong smell of… cloves?? Or maybe it was ginger. Or cardamom. I’m all confused; I had Indian food tonight (and have leftovers like crazy. Don’t get takeout on an empty stomach.)

Ahhh, the taste is where they differ. Light, gentle spicing on a fruity base. Not getting the white tea here at all, which is too bad. Again, not specifically peach, either. But it is nice, albeit weak.

I think this one might need some tweaking of parameters to improve it. Perhaps a longer infusion, since there’s nothing coming out of the white tea at all yet. Not bad, but I was hoping for more peachiness, which perhaps said tweaking will bring out.

ETA: Steeped this one for much longer for the second infusion. I’m getting more spices in the aroma, and a fresh-tasting fruity flavour (it almost tastes like chlorine. But not, because that would be gross.) I think this one’s the opposite of Cherry Garcia – needs more time on the first infusion!

Bubble burst… back to regularly scheduled programming…

Anyhow, I cold-brewed this one a few days ago in my massive tea cold-brewing fest. I’m pretty sure this one got the 30 seconds of hot water followed by cold water treatment (although it was less of a dilution as the volume was smaller, so the water was probably still warm going into the fridge).

The resulting flavour is a light, fruity chai with a lovely creaminess. It’s actually really delicious, to be honest. I’m not sure I would have thought to ice a chai, but it works very well, especially because the white tea is providing absolutely no astringency. I wasn’t fond of this one hot, but brewed a little stronger and iced, it is quite fabulous! Looks like this will be another that I’ll be icing all summer until it’s gone!

Cold-brewed last night. Honestly? All I’m really tasting here is cardamom, and since I seem to adore cardamom, this is working quite well. I’m not sure that I ever honestly tasted much of anything else, but enjoyed the cardamom so much that I rated this quite highly! Either way, I’m tempted to simply steep some cardamom pods in the fridge and see how it turns out…

Aha! Back to my beloved teas after a couple of work trips. The downside to preferring loose leaf tea, I find, is that it’s much harder for me to make a decent cup of tea in a hotel room.

I had high hopes for this tea. Maybe because the name brings to mind those fuzzy peach candies. Maybe because this is yet another chai in my eternal quest for the perfect chai. Either way, it was not what I was expecting.

It’s a very nice, mild peachy kind of tea. I don’t get any sense of the spices that are in the ingredient list though. So my disappointment is primarily due to my own expectations for this tea. If you like flavoured white tea, then I would say to give this a try.

I’m going to give this a try iced sometime. Maybe that will change the flavour profile a bit.

This is a really good iced tea. It is a gently spiced sweet and fruity tea. I really love this level of spiciness because I don’t feel like I have to add any milk or sweetener to get full enjoyment, but I can fully taste the spices.

I’m sad to say I was a bit disappointed in this one – there isn’t anything wrong with it, and it does live up to its name, its very peachy and fuzzy, it just didn’t grab me. Too much peach and not enough chai. It kind of reminded me of a peach cobbler so if that is your thing this may be the tea for you!

Edit: I ended up giving this one away to a good home. It’s too nice to sit unloved in my kitchen, but I just can’t imagine wanting to drink it again.
