“Running around as you do with your head up in the clouds
I was like you
Never had time to lay back, kick your shoes off, close your eyes
I was like you
Now you’re not hard to understand
You need someone to take your hand

Have you never been mellow? "

Hee hee – well enough easy listening, this is so. very. yummy.

Thanks to Den’s I’ve discovered a newfound love for houjicha! I love the way this smells when it’s steeping and the cup is dark, but very clean tasting, roasty but not excessively smoked or burnt. It’s got a sweet finish reminiscent of caramel or burnt sugar. It doesn’t taste like wet bark like some other houjichas I’ve had (well not much anyway)

This will be a great choice for my afternoon tea, low in caffeine and relaxing. It reminds me a bit of a roasted oolong. This is nice mixed with some soymilk too – I really need to make a houijcha latte someday! :)

As always, your mileage may vary but I thought this was super tasty. Also I was able to resteep it 3 times. :)

The weather is cold & foggy today and since I’m still feeling kinda oooky, I decided I really wanted some of this. With the sweet, roasted chestnutty type of flavor, it’s like comfort tea for yours truly. Enjoying this now with a bowl of split pea soup.

This houjicha seems to be the perfect thing for the rain and cold weather. I love the roasted and sweet flavor of this, see previous notes. I recommend it!

Wah, it’s a sipdown. I love this houjicha and it will certainly go on my list of things to repurchase from Den’s when I need some other things. Meanwhile I think I can cope with the bagged houjicha I got in Japantown.

Music of the afternoon: Classical Indian music for Healing and Relaxation. It’s groovy! http://www.amazon.com/Santoor-Solo-In-Rag-Bhairav/dp/B0016UIHLM

Tea of the afternoon here – it’s been a while since I’ve had this but it’s certainly a great tea! One of my favorites from Den’s. It’s equally delicious hot or cold.

Today’s a good day to make iced tea because it’s nice and sunny here!

I wish I had cold brewed this, so as not to dilute the flavor but it’s still very good when you pour it over ice. mmmm, houjicha! See previous notes for more info.

This is such a great tea I am having from Den’s after lunch. I love the roasted/sweet flavor of this houjicha. It’s good hot or cold but I was thinking just now it would be fun to try this with some coconut flavor added in. I wonder why more tea companies don’t do flavored houjicha?

If I was stranded on a desert island this would make the top 10 of teas I would want to bring with me. :)

This is delicious! Got it from a local cafe.
It has a creamy note, in addition to the sweet roasted flavors of a normal houjicha.
I would put it at just slightly better than Den’s regular “Houjicha Gold” , however, since I got this from a cafe, I don’t get to try multiple infusions or smell the loose leaf and get a real feeling for the tea, so I’m going to rate it the same.

oOTeaOo sent me a teabag version of this same stuff, and that, too was excellent.
