Thank you Bonnie for this sample.
This is my 2nd Earl Grey Tea I have tried.
I boiled water.
I took the big sample and put it in the pot.
I let it cool.
I tasted the “Cream” It’s the taste in the beginning…
I got a little bored with it, so I added some organic Blue Agave sweetener.
The tea leaves plumped up and expanded.
I have a big pot that I will sample all day today.
Thank you, Bonnie
8/21/12 – I put whatever was left into the fridge, this tasted really good cold!
I DUMPED waaaay too much tea into my teapot when I was making this. You see, I was debating between finishing off the last bit of toasted walnut, and taking another crack at this one. In the end I just grabbed blindly because I wanted to stop the kettle before the water got too hot. I must have assumed I grabbed the other tea because I just inverted the open pack over the teapot and immediately realized my mistake. ACK!!!! Now what? I momentarily debated scooping some of the tea back into the packet, but since I had already heated up my teapot with hot water, I decided that was a bad idea.
I just re-read my last tealog about this tea, where I comment that I was hoping for more flavour. Well now I’ve got it! The spiciness is obvious, and personally I love this aspect- it’s so unique (although I can see how not everyone would like this). I still would prefer a more robust mango taste to accompany this spiciness, but instead I notice this flavor more in the smell and the aftertaste than in the forefront. The grassiness of the green tea seems to compliment the flavors and the whole combination reminds me of vacationing in some sunny tropical location with grass huts, and spicy food…ahhh…such a nice little teascape on this gray rainy day.
When I first tasted this tea, I had to think of mango to experience that part of the flavor. This was a little disappointing for me at first because with the name “Mango Diablo” I was expecting an in-your-face bold fruit and spice combo. But now that I am over that initial disappointment, I can really appreciate this tea for what it is. When I drink Mango Diablo as a hot beverage, it tastes mostly like a green tea with just a little added spice tingle left on the tongue in the end. The mango flavor becomes slightly more evident for me when I drink this tea cold. I originally thought I wouldn’t repurchase this tea once I finish what I have, but the more I experiment with this one, the more it grows on me. Perhaps I just need to play with it a little longer to figure out how to perfect it for my palate.
Ummm——- woooo this one is super sour, and tart.
The taste- I could barley taste the pear- I could taste some apple though.
Way, way to sour for me.
The smell- Like sour keys.
The color- Yellow.
This one is just not good.
Ehh, definitely not my favorite. Its not the best hot, and I just never got around to trying it iced. I had it in the morning a couple times- before I ran out of my 25g bag.
I would not re-purchase this tea.
Taste- BLUEBERRY, THE BLACK TEA, AND THE OTHER BERRIES. It too fruity for a breakfast tea for me. (Well, I’m guessing it’s a breakfast tea- because of the name)
Smell- Mostly the blueberries.
Colour- light brown / Purple.
In conclusion- This is an okay tea but not one I will be stocking up on.
I turned to this for a cup of comfort tonight. It’s 2:22am and I haven’t slept in days. I’m spiraling downhill fast, and it isn’t pretty. I just need to get through to the morning of the 9th and I’ll be able to actually deal with this bull crap.
This is one of the only red rooibos blends I truly enjoy. I think the lavender cuts the woodiness. I taste more of a lavender/vanilla rather than lavender/coconut, but I like it.
I really hope I can finally get some sleep. I just barely survived a week of hell and I still can’t take the time I need to care for myself. Not until I’ve done everything I need to make sure the pony is looked after.
Spending my birthday on the ward again? Looks like it. Ugh.
Flavors: Lavender, Vanilla, Wood
I felt like this would be an ironic tea to sip right now, given how royally effed up life is at the moment. Well, not so much life, just my brain really. I feel so beyond hopeless, but I WANT to live. just….not like this…
Irony aside, this is a tasty cup of apricotty, nougatty, almondy goodness. It reminds me of the apricot nougat used to make ice cream sandwiches by a local small-batch creamery.
Crap, now I’m craving a rosemary and sour cherry sammy….
How about the Rosemary Sour Cherry that I submitted? I want to do it, I just can’t put the money up for it right now.
The Rosemary Sour Cherry that you submitted is exactly it, Amariel. I just need to know how much tea it would end up being… :) Then I can start saving for it!
Minimum $50, likely. Would depend on whether extra ingredients were added like dried fruits and/or flowers, and whether she would need to bring in any special ingredients.
