From DAVIDsTEA

Ever hear that Quebeckers are obsessed with maple syrup? Well, it’s true. In our Montreal office, it’s not unusual to find people pouring it into their morning oatmeal, over fresh fruit and, of course, into their tea. It adds a hint of warmth and sweetness that’s totally unbeatable. So it was only a matter of time before we came out with this all-natural, maple-sweetened tea. With black tea, apple, cinnamon and real pieces of maple sugar, it’s a warming hug on a fall day – and a delicious taste of Quebec. (MK Kosher)

Price per 50g: $8.98

Also another in store sample for the day. I didn’t even bother finishing the sample. This isn’t terrible, it’s just nothing special and the flavours don’t work exceptionally well together. It kind of tastes like maple, kind of? But was missing something. Or maybe a lot of somethings…

caile

I sampled this too and didn’t like it either.

Sweeter than I expected, a very heavy maple taste which was exciting and made me want to have it one day during breakfast when I’m having pancakes… I did find it so strong that I didn’t finish it all, perhaps because I drank it in the evening.

Dry Nose: Fruit and spice.

Taste: Delicious! Tastes like a fall dessert. Lots of cinnamon and fruity notes. I wish the maple was a bit more pronounced but it’s still delicious.

Not a big fan. I tasted the maple and cinnamon, but there’s something about the cinnamon DT uses in a lot of blends that doesn’t sit well with me. I really don’t know what it is, but this is not the only tea that has this certain flavour that I really don’t enjoy. Oh well; at least I only have 12g!

Yeah, I wish their cinnamon was more like the spice and less like the candy. :(

Plunkybug

I found it lackluster myself.

Kittenna

I’m not really sure what it is about the cinnamon, but it really turns me off. A bit disappointing, because I did like the maple in the tea, but the cinnamon made the whole thing gross.

Indigobloom

Agreed on that front. The cinnamon almost reminds me of carob, which I hate.

Flavors are a bit more delicate than what I had expected. Not enough maple flavor and really not as sweet as they claim.

I should send you some of the Maple Cream black that a local shop has. It’s REAL maple goodness!

Vwinsloe

I looked it up here, and there are no tasting notes. Does your local shop do any business online?

Bear With Me

She doesn’t do much of it (her website is terrible), but I’ll send you a message with some info and you can get in touch if you’d like. She does take orders via email/phone, but she doesn’t currently have an e-commerce page. I’d like to try to get that set up for her sometime, actually.

Received as part of DT’s Fall Collection 2014. I used 1.5 teaspoon in 7 ounces of water. It smelled great while brewing but when I tasted it straight, and could barely taste anything – not tea, or any of the flavorings that were supposed to be present. It tasted more like slightly sweetened water. I then made a latte out of it with honey and coconut creamer, and that improved it enough that I could more fully taste the maple flavor, but the tea itself was still pretty weak. Honestly, I’ve had stronger and better grocery store teas.

Miss Roswell Strange was nice enough to purchase and send me 20g samples of the David’s fall collection teas that I was interested in. What a sweetheart! For some reason, I’ve been neglecting these since I got them, and this is only the second one I’ve tried out of 4 total. Doh! I really love maple-flavored things, so I have to try this one. The tea itself looks like an even mix of black tea leaves and dried apple pieces (why…). There’s also cinnamon bark and pieces of maple brittle. Dry scent is extremely sweet with more cinnamon and apple than maple. It does smell delicious though, like some kind of amazing fall pastry! :) I steeped mine for 4 minutes at 200 degrees.

Brewed, this tea smells like a cinnamon apple tart or some other form of pastry. And with maple glaze! :D Wow, it’s very buttery, which I did not expect! It’s definitely very similar to some kind of pastry, maybe an apple pie with plenty of butter in the filling! There’s only the barest hint of maple here, which is unfortunate, but this is a really good apple pie tea! I taste buttery, flaky crust along with buttery, cinnamony, brown sugary apple filling. Yum!

Also, this would make the best latte ever… Next time!

Trying this tea for the first time. This was the fall tea I was most excited about, I love maple. Unfortunately I can’t actually taste any of it in the tea. Disappointed. Like others have mentioned, I would have been better off sticking with Oh Canada.

I agree with the other reviewers. I tried it as a latte like DavidsTea suggested and I didn’t like it. It wasn’t as maple flavored as it smelled. I don’t like black tea usually and this didn’t improve my opinion on black tea.

My least favorite of the fall teas – I find it has a very fake brown sugar taste and I had a hard detecting much maple flavoring. Basically tastes like sweetened water – not very enjoyable but will give it a few more tries before I write it off completely.

I agree! I tried it as a latte like DavidsTea suggested and I didn’t like it.
