I suspect if you enjoy a floral tasting tea, especially jasmine, then you may love the subtle flavors in this tea. Maybe it was in my head, after reading the name, but I thought I tasted something like a bit of milk, in addition to the jasmine-like floral, and mineral flavors.

I prepared it using the “Chinese Gongfu Way” described on the product website, using a small porcelain teapot. The first steep after the 5 s. rinse was my favorite, while the second steep was a bit too strong for me. The second steep was fine once I watered it down a bit though.

This is from my oolong sampler. My first milk oolong.

Nose (brew)- sweet, slightly floral
Colour- pale gold, hints of green
Flavour- creamy, lightly vegetal

This was very good, glad I finally was able to try it.

I made this again with Tea Source’s Rare Orchid Oolong. Now I have a cup of milk, floral goodness.

A nice green oolong with a creamy and slightly floral flavour. I am not a huge fan of super grassy green oolongs so this is the perfect type for me. It’s the creamy that has me hooked on milk oolongs.
I brewed this “western style” and love it.
Also “mandatory” for any oolong tea to stay permanently in my cupboard, it must be able to be brewed an extended period of time in my Libre tea glass without getting bitter (if I brew this way it is usually at work and I use far less leave than normal because of the extended brew time). This certainly passes the test. Mmmm.

I had a fabulous gongfu session with this tea today after working really hard all day. It tasted amazing! I also used one of my really pretty fractal glaze teacups and it was the perfect reward. I think the long day (with no tea since breakfast) made the tea taste even better. So deliciously milky and smooth. Yum!

And boychik was nice enough to include this one as well so I could compare. :)
Between this and the flavored version, I think I probably prefer the flavored version, but this is a very nice tea as well. Smooth and lightly milky.

The second of my samples from Angel at Teavivre. This is another win with me! I drank my last cup of Tealux’s Jin Xuan milk oolong last night, and while I found it to be nice enough, it didn’t really make much of an impression on me. That’s why I chose this one to try this morning. It’s much better, and I say that after only a couple of sips!

I used half the sample (approx 1 tsp). Although the guidelines say to use boiling water, I did allow my cup to cool a little before adding the leaves. That’s the way oolongs have worked best for me in the past. Once it reached about 180, I added the leaves and steeped for nearly 4 minutes. The liquor is a pale yellow green, and smells creamy and mildly vegetal.

To taste, this is unbelievably smooth! It has a gorgeous buttery texture and silky mouthfeel, and it tastes DIVINE! For an unflavoured oolong, I was really surprised how well the milk and cream elements came out. Obviously there’s not as much there as there would be in a flavoured oolong, but what is there is very natural tasting. In the initial sip, I get a creaminess first, which seems to “thin” into a lingering milkiness after a few seconds. Then comes the classic “oolong” flavour — a grassy, mildly vegetal flavour, with a tiny hint of mineral in the background. The sip ends on a sweet note, formed from both the remaining milkiness and the spring grass flavour of the oolong.

I went back for a second cup straight away! I’ve never been much of an oolong drinker, but it’s teas like this that make me seriously wonder why not. This is one I would definitely include in a future order — I’d love to try the flavoured version to compare, too! Thanks again to Angel and Teavivre for sending me this sample!

I love this type of oolong, ‘tho I have yet to try Teavivre’s version. I’ll have to get it with my next order.

I agree with you on this one, and I have Tealux’s version too, which I liked best until this one came around!

Thank u to Teavivre for this sample!!! This has a lovely creamy scent. There is a tiny tiny hint of floral and I like the floral being subtle. The floral notes are mainly when you breathe out and not in the flavor.
Small cleansing amount of astringency.
The creamy “milk” flavor really comes out as the tea cools a bit. This is a lovely and balanced Jin Xuan!!!

Continuing the Battle of the Milk Oolongs from yesterday, I’m going with this one today. The sample is courtesy of Angel, which I very muchly appreciate!

Compared to the Della Terra one I had yesterday, this one is on the floral side and not as buttery. Rather, it’s fresher and lighter. I know this sounds contradictory, but even though I always look for that luscious creaminess in a milk oolong—so the creamier/more buttery the better—overall, I prefer this one over previous milk oolongs because it’s fresher and lighter, and lacks that heavy butteriness. Maybe this is a sign that I simply prefer lighter floral oolongs over milk oolongs? Who knows.

Simply put, this is a dainty floralesque milk oolong. It’s beautiful, but like yesterday, I’ll reserve rating until I’ve tried all the milk oolongs sitting around. Thanks, Angel!

This is a nice cup of tea -however, for milky creaminess, it doesn’t compare to DavidsTea milk oolong, of which I am a big fan. I am trying other milk oolongs for comparison purposes. This one is more delicate and vegetal than I prefer. I made this Western style according to the directions on the package, which are for a much longer time than the directions given in this blurb on steepster.

This is less mineral and more vegetal than other oolongs I have tasted. I find that it doesn’t taste a lot like milk, but the mouthfeel and aftertaste are kind of creamy. I haven’t had any other milk oolongs so I can’t compare. It is very good but I don’t think I will find myself craving it just because right now I am not liking oolongs as much as I did. I don’t know what happened, when I started drinking them I was amazed that tea could taste like this, but now they are all kind of meh for me. I need something that will knock my socks off!
