French Toast Crunch

I’ve been wanting to try The Tea Girl for a while, but she doesn’t ship outside of Canada. Miss Courtney was so sweet to send me a tea care package with a dozen Tea Girl samples, plus a few samples from her own stash and some fun candies. Tea friends are the best friends! :3

This one is a tasty maple tea. I wouldn’t call it specifically French toast, more of a slightly buttery maple black tea with a teeny hint of cinnamon. The base is an Indonesian black tea, and to me it tastes similar to Ceylon – fairly acidic with a metallic edge and a brisk finish. Not normally my favorite kind of black tea, but I actually kind of like it here, as I feel like the sharpness of it tones down the decadent maple and keeps it from being too cloying. Not one I would order for myself, as I just don’t reach for desserty teas, but I enjoyed the sample!

2024 sipdown no. 86

This one was tasty, but some of these dessert-type teas just taste the same to me. I don’t know that I could really tell this apart from Canadian Butter Tart. A good tea, but not specifically French Toast Crunch.

Latte Sipdown (217)

Picked this as my latte tea for Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge for the latte prompt. I make lattes often enough so it was just a matter of choosing a tea I felt like having as a latte.

This was odd. I felt like I lost my taste because this was much more bland than I expected. I think I just underleafed this though. The flavour I am getting is French toast but without anything to add sweetness. It needs sweetness. So this is fine but nothing special. Still fun to try though so thank you Sil for sending a bit more of this my way.

Sipdown (1425)!

I think this sample came from Sil by way of VariaTEA – so thank you both! This isn’t something that I would want to buy, say, 50g of to keep on hand but I did enjoy the mug quite a bit. It’s full bodied with a brisk black tea base and lots of rich cinnamon notes. What I liked about the cinnamon was that it seemed to be a nice balance of more woody and drying cinnamon as well as sweet “red hot” cinnamon, so I kind of got the best of both worlds. I also really enjoyed the maple sweetness in the body of the sip leading into the finish. It was rich, without being sweet.

love this smooth, fragrant blend. lovely when i want a really solid breakfast tea with a little more flavour and spice but nothing too overwhelming.

Another sipdown from march that is off to variaTEA/Roswell. I rather enjoyed this one as well.

2020 Advent Calendar from The Tea Girl – Day 10

I feel so spoilt this week – my tea advents have been AMAZING! This was no slouch either! I LOVE french toast, and I’ve had a french toast tea at some point (think it was by DT) and it was tasty yuminess. Something about maple in teas just makes me happy.

This one – smells just wonderful! So maple, cinnamon, breakfast! Steeped for 2 and a half mins with boiling water…next time might use a cooler temp, as the flavors here really shone once the cup cooled down. So tasty to drink in my afternoon meeting! This one might have to be a repurchase :)
