1184 Tasting Notes
This is a decent straight black tea. I found this tea very malty. Being named “Honey black,” I was expecting the honey notes to be a little more prominent though. They were present, but very much in the background. There was also a little astringency, so I would maybe try brewing for only 3 minutes next time.
The price tag is a little high. This won’t be a cupboard staple for me but I wouldn’t refuse a cuppa this.
Preparation
I am so happy to have this tea again! This is one of my favourite teas, smooth and sweet, with slight chocolate notes. It has a silky mouthfeel and smells so delicious. I like to watch the large pearls unfurl in my steeper.
I used 5 pearls for this cuppa today.
The resteep at 4 minutes was a little astringent, so maybe 3 or 3.5 would have been better.
Maybe I just haven’t found the right steeping parameters yet. Any suggestions?
Preparation
I love white teas, and this was the only white blend, so I “had” to try it! I wasn’t sure how I felt about a white chai, and I’m still not sure. To me, chai is best enjoyed with milk and I am not sure this would take milk well.
On the other hand, this tea is blended very well and the flavours meld well together.
Preparation
This is the base for the “art of darkness” I believe, and I really enjoyed that one, so it’s no Suprise that I enjoy this one as well. The brew is a deep Amber.
I think the description is fairly accurate for this one. The forefront notes are earthy, sweet, walnut. There are background notes of vanilla. I didn’t necessarily get cream notes, but the mouthfeel is certainly creamy.
Resteeped 4&5 minutes
Preparation
This tea is roasty and toasty with notes of coffee and caramel. The dark chocolate notes are far away in the background but make an appearance every once in awhile. The vegetal notes are minimal. There is a slight underlying sweetness and smoothness to this dark oolong. The leaves once brewed remain slightly curled up and very dark.
Resteeped at 7 and 10 minutes.
Preparation
That one is probably one of my favorites from Whispering Pines. I’ve yet to find a darker oolong like it. Most of them have either been too char like or too salty (if that makes sense).
I guess it is a pu’erh kind of day for me. I didn’t get too much sleep last night because of the babe, so I need some caffeine today!
This tea smells delightful. And then you steep it…it would be good except the stevia kinda ruins it. I don’t mind stevia sometimes, but in this blend, it leaves a really weird aftertaste that I just can’t get over. I would like to add my own sweetener DAVIDsTEA, please and thank you.
Preparation
Thank you for the sample Brenden!!
The pretty gold leaves went into my infuser with an earthy aroma of creamy dark cocoa and a hint of fruit. This translates well into the taste as well. The flavours and cocoa notes are a little lighter than the other pu’erh I tried but I don’t mind to have on days that I want something a little on the lighter side. I enjoyed this cuppa and have more for another cup or two.
Resteeped for 4&5 minutes.
Preparation
Well, I am now back to over 100 teas. That didn’t take me long to go from only a few since not being able to drink tea. When I was pregnant, the thought of tea alone would make me feel nauseated :(
This tea is still fairly decent, smooth orange and vanilla. It is fairly woodsy from the rooibos as a cold brew. I haven’t decided yet if the 90 rating is deserved or not… I will have to think about it
These dry snails are so pretty and it is an experience to watch them unfurl.
This tea smells amazing.
The taste is pretty spectacular. It is sweet potatoe and honey bread. There are slighter notes of malt, chocolate, and molasses. I didn’t get any gardenia notes as in the description, but it does have a creamy mouthfeel.
I am really loving these yunnan black teas.
I resteeped for 5&8 minutes.
Preparation
This smells like maraschino cherries…and tastes like it too. The end of the sip almost tastes like amaretto or cherry whiskey???? What the heck? I don’t get any almond or green tea notes. Maybe this is a different tea and labelled as sweet almond green. Or maybe I did something very wrong. Help!!
Have you had Beautiful Taiwan Tea’s Honey Black? Or Green Terrace’s? Curious if you could compare them.
Shoot Nicole, no I haven’t. Sorry
I wonder if they are less expensive than David’s. Although shipping is always a factor if you are lucky enough to just be able to go to a David’s in person. :)
There is a DT at our downtown mall, so I generally drink a lot of their tea (it’s convenient)
