This definitely wasn’t what I was imagining or craving when I decided to make this tonight. There is definitely cake in this cup, but I don’t really taste much of a coffee flavor. Is it possible for tea to taste greasy? If so, then this definitely tasted greasy to me. This one also tasted a lot like their Red Velvet Cake to me, and I wasn’t a huge fan of that one either.

I guess that means that my search for the perfect coffee cake flavored tea continues. Not that I mind having another excuse to go out and buy more tea ;)

This smells exactly like Red Velvet Cake to me. I actually like Red Velvet Cake so I was excited by this blend but it has a strange taste. Also, I don’t know if teas can “taste” greasy but they definitely can be greasy/oily. I have had a tea that I actually brushed my teeth and used mouth wash right after trying because it felt like my mouth was coated in grease (sorry, I just realized how incredibly disgusting that is).

Coffee cakes don’t taste like coffee. This is just a cake flavored tea.

Yes, teas can have that greasy feeling to them. This is probably from the “natural and artificial cake flavouring” that is included in it.

VariaTEA, That is definitely how this tea felt to me. I did finish drinking it, but I had to rinse my mouth with mouthwash afterwards. (And no worries! It actually didn’t sound that disgusting to me… maybe I should be concerned that it didn;t? lol)

Brendan, Really? I’ve only ever had homemade coffee cake but it definitely tastes like coffee, I guess it must just be the recipe my family uses :) And that makes sense, I’m glad its not just in my head lol.

Brendan

Pandeme – I want your recipe :)

Brendan, Definitely! I’ll get it the next time I’m at home and send it to you. You might need to remind me though lol.

About Me
Hi! I’m a 24 year old University student that loves tea -obviously! I also love to read, I’m an English major so I guess that is a given. I may also be a bit of a shopaholic, but hey there are worse addictions right?

Tea
Growing up I hated tea, but when I turned 16 I went on a trip to Japan and fell in love with Green Tea -basically any type of green tea that I could get my hands on. For the following 7 years I stuck exclusively to straight green tea.

Then when I turned 23 a friend of mine got a job at David’s Tea and started pestering me to branch out and try some of their teas. And I am so glad I did! for the next year I tried (and bought) basically every tea David’s had to offer.

Then a couple weeks ago I stumbled across Steepster when I was search for recommendations on other tea brands to try. In the short time I’ve been on steepster I’ve been introduced to some amazing teas from brands all over the world, and some equally amazing people!

Tea Ratings

1 to 40 – I won’t even bother trying to drink this, I’ll just dump it out.

41 to 65 – I don’t like this. I’ll finish the cup because I don’t want to waste it, but I’ll probably be cringing while doing so. And I definitely won’t be repurchasing.

66 to 80 – I like this, I’ll recommend it to people, and at some point I’ll probably repurchase it.

81 to 100 – I am in love with this. Seriously, I’ll be repurchasing this before I’m even halfway through my current stash of it. In fact I love it so much I’ll probably force feed it to you until you love it as much as I do.
