23 Tasting Notes

Coconut Oolong from DAVIDsTEA
93

Fantastic. So good. Not an overpowering coconut taste. Subtle enough to taste the tea leaves as well as flavour. Permanent collection for sure. I agree with everyone is saying about the creaminess, you do not need milk in this tea at all. I would recommend it to anyone.

Glitter & Gold from DAVIDsTEA

It’s funny how I always wanted to try this tea and never did until my advent calendar. It looks so good and fun with the gold balls. But when I did try it, it was no good. I’m not sure why, if it was oversteeping, not enough tea, or what but I thought it was too bland for me. I love black teas and I will give this one another try since there are so many people that like it.

Creme Brulee from DAVIDsTEA
71

Loved this tea. It is most definitely going into my permanent collection. Thank you to the advent calendar for getting me to love this. I’m surprised I haven’t had it before. Warm, not over flavorful and no burnt taste. Just like a creme burlee should be.

Coco Chai Rooibos from DAVIDsTEA
79

Had this in my advent calendar. I really enjoyed this chai. I love rooibos in general so this was perfect. The spices were perfect. I didn’t put a lot of tea in my steeper, almost half of the little tin it comes in and I made two cups from it. You can taste the coconut, it’s very subtle, but brings down the tone of the tea and how spicy it is. Considering to put in my permanent collection.

Citron Oolong from DAVIDsTEA
97

I am getting sick. Throat hurts, coughing, the whole thing. So I steeped this and it was perfect for my throat. Really helped. It also doesn’t need to be super hot to be good either. Even as it cools down, it’s still nice. I could not love this tea more.

Buttered Rum (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
Earl Grey from Dilmah
57

It’s not a terrible bagged earl grey, but it was the only kind of tea they had in Belize while I was away. So naturally I came home with a whole box.

Plain, regular earl grey. Not spectacular. Not terrible. Again, the only tea that was really available. Not that you wanted hot tea in a hot, hot country.

Swampwater from DAVIDsTEA
87

Finally my first taste of the famed swamp water. I have wanted to try this for awhile now, so I got a sample, just 20g, to try it. And I love it! The guava is perfect. The colour did throw me off a bit and the water doesn’t steep through my Steeper that well (it gets clogged). But I will definitely be buying a big tin of this for the winter. Perfect warm me up.

Birthday Cake from DAVIDsTEA
94

One of my most favourite teas. It suits me perfectly every time. I love rooibos and the taste is perfect. I love how it tastes like a vanilla cupcake without the frosting (or the calories). I cannot give a better review. Warms my heart a little.

Pineapple Kona Pop! from Teavana

Had a take away hot cup of this while in buffalo this weekend to see what teavana was about before I saw it in Canada. One thing I hated was that’s had to wait for it to steep before I could take the cup. At David’s, they put it in a tea bag that way I can walk around with it while shopping in store or the mall in general. At teavana I had to choose a tea, pay and wait for the tea to steep while my family waited for at least 10 minutes while I could get a cup.

Back to the tea. Holy flavour! Crazy flavorful but I would say that not all of it was good. I can see where it would be better iced but hot wasn’t bad. So well see how it goes when they come to Canada. I was very surprised with how expensive the tea was and how big their tins were.

Pink Flamingo from DAVIDsTEA

Had this iced and made the initial brew super strong. I felt like I should had added some cold water to it after, not just iced cubes, cause I found it better when it was watered down a bit. But still good and I will make it again.

Vanilla Oolong from DAVIDsTEA
82

I am in love with this tea. I love the taste of vanilla and it was perfect in this. The oolong leaves and the vanilla are paired well together. The vanilla is not overpowering, but I would have liked a little more taste. I steeped this tea twice and both were very good. I usually go with a 5 minute steep for oolong, but depending on what the leaves like I sometimes let it steep for longer until the leaves are completely un-folded.

Blueberry Jam (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
77

I really enjoyed this tea. Even though I left it steeping for a lot longer than a probably should have (was watching x-men), it was still really good. I think because I left it wayyy too long it had a bit of a sour taste. But the blueberry flavour really comes out and is perfect morning tea. I will be getting a huge order of this when my bag finishes.

Daydreamer from DAVIDsTEA
71

I love guava. But unfortunately I don’t really taste a strong guava flavour. I do like however the soft fruity taste. It’s not over powering and its not too tasteless. For me this is a comforting tea and I love it. I can only imagine how amazing it would be cold. I have finally gotten the hang of brewing green teas.

Birthday Cake from DAVIDsTEA
94

I love this one. The first steep was quite good. I could not get over the smell. Because I drank birthday cake on my birthday, I’m trying to remember. What I do remember is that it was good. The first steep was more rooibos then I would like. The second steep had more of a vanilla taste to it, giving it a more birthday cake taste. I haven’t been able to taste buttercream yet, but more actual cake. Like it’s coming right out of the oven. I am in love and so glad my sister got me this for my birthday.

Alpine Punch from DAVIDsTEA
90

I always forget how much I love Alpine Punch until I drink it. It is so flavourful, it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I’m not much of a cinnamon person, but there is just enough to create this wonderful taste. I will keep this tea in my cupboard for as long as DAVIDs tea has it in stock. It is perfect for those Canadian winters or dreary rainfalls, like today.

Strawberry Fields from Teaopia
52

After Daniel Scott’s notes about the water, I tried it again finally. And I do like it better now. I can definitely taste strawberries and all the warm goodness. It is amazing iced as well. So I’ve moved my rating up now. It’s a little too light for me (I’m in a black phase), but still good.

The Earl's Garden from DAVIDsTEA
61

I am on a black tea kick so this tea was right up my alley. I love cream of Earl Grey, so I thought I would try something different. I liked the taste of fruit in it because it doesn’t over power the taste of the tea, but it adds a nice touch. For me, this isn’t an everyday kind of tea, but something I have to be in the mood for.

Strawberry Fields from Teaopia
52

Unfortunately I found this tea to be very tart. I could not taste the strawberries at all. I tried two different steeps, but found both to be disappointing since this tea seems to be very popular. I will be returning this for something else.

Jolly Jellybean from DAVIDsTEA
68

Loved this seasonal tea. I found that the jellybeans add a different kind of flavour to it. I did steep the jellybeans, instead of eating them, and found that it put just enough sugar in the tea and made it good. Though I did find that the bottom of the cup was not the best cause it had all sunk to the bottom and had gotten cold. But I love the coconut and pineapple taste perfect for spring.

Cream of Earl Grey (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
95

One of my favourite teas. It goes great with a bit of milk. I feel like it enhances the vanilla. Could drink this all day, every day.

Movie Night from DAVIDsTEA
39

I had previously gotten a cup of this to go and I thought it was pretty good. So I bought 100g in a tin. Unfortunately when I had a taste this morning, ick! I think I need to steep it for longer. I felt the 5 minutes was not long enough. I tasted more apples than maple, I don’t think there was enough actual tea in mine. I’m going to do a second steep to see how I feel about it and then decide if I want to take it back.

Citron Oolong from DAVIDsTEA
97

I am a citrus lover and this tea is perfect. It is very relaxing and calming. I do like my tea strong in flavour so I add more than necessary, but then I can get at least three steeps out of the same leaves. Definitely worth trying, if you haven’t already.
