From DAVIDsTEA

Beat the blahs

Need a lift? St. John’s Wort is a well-known mood enhancer, often used as an herbal treatment for anxiety and depression. And black currants are flavourful bundles of antioxidants and vitamin C. So it shouldn’t surprise you that along with black tea and açai berries, they make for one feel-good blend. What might surprise you is how smoothly this medicine goes down, with or without sugar.

This has easily become one of my favourite teas. I really hope they bring it back, because it won’t be long before it needs replacing! this is a functional tea for me… it tastes amazing, but that is beside the main point! There are days when I really feel low, and with a little bit of milk, a dash of agave… this really does the trick. Funny though, it doesn’t taste ahhhmazing for me unless I truly am in a bad mood, which makes me wonder if there is something in here my body craves during those times? something to do with my messed up thyroid perhaps. shrugs.
G’night y’all!

Uniquity

I hated the smell of this tea, then I bought some anyway and fell in love with it. Then I learned that St. John’s Wort can nullify birth control pills and am now not allowed to drink it. I miss it!

Indigobloom

I didn’t like it at first either! but then I learned how to dress it and voila, a tea that I badly need to replace, but they don’t sell it anymore!! eek :/
I didn’t know that about the pill. I will keep that in mind if I ever need it!!

Uniquity

I posted, then realized it was a wonter tea, and THAT is why it’s gone. D’oh!

MaddHatter

I need this tea, this week as I pack my stuff.

Indigobloom

ahhh packing, yes I can see how you would need this tea MaddHatter!

Yes, tea does that… mysterious huh ;P

Had a crappy, terrible day andneeded a pick me up. I also wanted to test my DavidsTea travel press (http://www.davidstea.com/accessories/david-s-travel-press). I was told by the girls in store that the press pins the leaves against the bottom of the mug and keeps them from expanding and steeping that way, but I wasn’t sure. I’d never used it for anything but rooibos and forgiving herbals. But DaisyChubb and a few others were curious, so I decided to try it out with this tea, one I have oversteeped before and noticed a difference.

I’m in complete shock, it worked! It’s been in the mug for about an hour now, and it’s not oversteeped. Yay! My winter self is very excited about this.

I still love this tea and it still seems to be doing the trick, though it might help that my wife will be home soon. That always lifts my mood.

Jenn

I hate the crappy, terrible days! I hope your day gets better and at least you have the weekend ahead :)

DaisyChubb

Yay! Best experiment ever. I hope the rest of your day transforms into the best day ever.
Thanks for trying this out, I’m sold. :)

aisling of tea

Yay! Be warned, if you get iced tea in it, the metal shrinks and it does leak a bit.

And my day did get a lot better!

Cattibrie

Sorry about the crappy day but thanks for testing out the mug for us. Now to convince hubby I need that mug. We do have an 12th anniversary coming up next weekend. Although I am hoping he gets me an Ipod touch for that.

aisling of tea

Now, I do have to put the disclaimer up that as of yet, I’ve only tested it once, though I foresee another test tomorrow when I get up at the buttcrack of dawn to head to work with the wife. But so far, I’m impressed!

Upping the rating…Had two mugs of this today at a friend’s house and really enjoyed them. I went for boiling water with a shorter steep time, maybe 3 minutes the first and 6 or 7 the second. I did my usual 1 tsp of tea to two mugs, then resteeped for two more, so that was a good tea ratio. This tea has a richer deeper flavour that I enjoy when I am looking for something non-sweet and non-berry. Really hit the spot, and I think I’ll be turning to it more often. Still a strange smell though!

Uniquity

And now I have to leave it all to the beau since I was the only person in the unierse who hadn’t been warned that St. John’s Wort decreases effectivity of Birth Control. Not okay for so many reasons! : (

Backlogging from yesterday…..

This was my afternoon pick-me-up. It had kind of a chocolate berry taste. It was quite good, and I will have to consider more when I pull together a David’s order. The second steep was not as strong, but I did get more of the berry taste along with a hint of something minty. Thank you to ladykittycat for swapping with me!

I am going through an extremely difficult time in my life and this is absolutely my go-to tea. I don’t mind if it is pure placebo effect or not, but the St-John’s Wort and black current blend really helps me to keep my spirits up to fight my demons during the day.

It is a strong black tea, so be careful to not oversteep it. For those who prefer tea sweetened, add a dash of honey but I don’t find that it needs anything else. The winter DavidsTea collection is fading away so I have to stock up now to help keep my mood up for the months to come.

Well, is it heaven? Not that much.

It’s a strong black tea with some choco-berries taste. The black tea is really present here, which is comforting me because the berries don’t overwhelm the tea.

Overall, i’ll admit that it’s a really complete taste and the satisfaction is guaranteed.
But, i’ve just taste one sampler so… i’m not well suit to criticism.

Backlog from Tea and Cards TTB: The chocolate notes were different from the usual David’s Tea flavouring, in a good way. I, however, got zero berry notes, and a lot of citrus notes? I’m really happy I got to try it, but I wouldn’t buy it if they re released it.
