Monkey King Jasmine Green Tea

Green Tea by Numi Organic Tea

Jasmine tea is the oldest known scented tea, and ours begins its life in the gardens of Hunan Province. The rich soil and fluctuations in daily temperature yield a fragrant leaf which is further scented with delicate white Jasmine blossoms. During summer, these are gathered daily by the banks of the Min River and repeatedly mated each night with the prepared tea, naturally embracing all of the flowers’ scent. When brewed, this smooth, organic green tea has layers of subtle fragrance and hints of moonlight. It is a most romantic tea, and, like a bowl of fresh picked flowers, will bring the joy of summer to your every sip.

The flavor of this is what I think of as “Chinese restaurant tea” as it seems to be a staple at the Chinese restaurants in this area, only this version is even more jasminy than the norm. The aroma and flavor are very, very jasminy which is a big plus as I love the smell of jasmine.

The tea base is what keeps this from being spectacular. It’s only just peeping through the flowers, and though it is pleasant and mildly sweet, it could announce itself more. Then I’d be able to tell how good this really is — either it would score points or fall down if the tea wasn’t up to at least par. The downside of the intensity of the jasmine is that it masks the tea, and I feel a little like I’m being asked to judge a photo after it’s been airbrushed to conceal all the flaws.

Lest I mislead, this is better than standard restaurant tea in my view as it is more floral and actually more flavorful (I steep mine pretty strong, and restaurants tend not to), but I’m guessing there are better jasmines with more robust bases out there.

after the disappointing floral taste in the “oasis” green tea floral blend, this conventional tea bag looking tea has a nice kick of jasmine. good thing i do love jasmine tea although i was a bit disappointed with the overpowering of the more earthy flavors of the green tea…

all in all though a nice afternoon booster.

Lots of jasmine, not much green. I wish I knew why I don’t really like jasmine, it smells so nice. Must be because it tends to be kind of pushy and crowd out whatever else is in the tea blend. Definitely the case here.

I didn’t think I liked jasmine-scented teas, but this definitely changed my mind! The scent of the dry bag is heavenly, as is the aroma when steeped. The taste is a little bitter/astringent and while it’s only a slight jasmine taste, it lingers for quite a while. I’m glad I tried this. :)

I forgot how much I thoroughly adore this tea. It’s fragrant right in the bag (and fragrant for a bagged tea, period), and has a light hand with the tea base. I can hold a mug and just smell it; almost as good as drinking it.

It’s honestly far more jasmine than green tea… the green tea flavor is almost nonexistent. So if you’re looking for a good blend of the two flavors, or a stronger tea, this probably won’t do it for you. It’s a hardcore floral, and not much else.

Steeping this tea too long definitely makes it bitter. I prefer my tea strong, but for this one you really don’t want to go past 4 minutes or the flavor will be off.

Back to the sample pack! This one is pretty tasty as well. I’ve had Green teas with Jasmine in the past, but it’s been far too long to make a comparison. All I can say is, I rather liked it. Just some sugar to sweeten it, and away I went.

My favorite Jasmine Green tea thus far, very natural and complex, with the right amount of sweetness. I enjoy this tea with a bit of honey, it extends the natural sweetness into a nice afterglow. The jasmine aroma is subtle and earthy, and not “perfumy” or unpleasant like in other jasmine teas that I’ve tried, and the green tea is present and flavorful- a bit smoky even. I try not to steep this particular tea for more than three minutes, but I’ve actually enjoyed a cup without too much astringence even after leaving the bag in for the time it took me to shower in the morning.

Loved the smell of jasmine. It reminded me of lilacs, though I’m not accustomed to the scent of jasmine. Smelled more than it tasted. A good green tea, though green teas aren’t my favorite.

A random teabag that I picked up from I-don’t-know-where….

The aroma here is of jasmine, but the taste is of green tea. It’s okay, but I wouldn’t buy this one. The leaves in the teabag aren’t quite dust, but they’re aren’t whole leaf, either.

Entirely drinkable, moderately enjoyable.

I don’t drink too many teas that are pre-bagged, unless it comes to work or when I’m lazy. However, I’m very happy with the Monkey King Jasmine Green Tea. Its one of the best jasmine green teas i’ve had that is pre-bagged, and the flavor is great. The jasmine flavor isn’t overpowering so you can taste the green tea which is pretty decent. Sometimes I drink this one with a little honey, but usually I drink it plain since the jasmine flavor isn’t too strong.

A rich earthy green tea with highlights of amazing Jasmine Flowers. A great tea for breakfast to get your day off to a kickstart.

HOLY JASMINE! WOWZA! This is an over the top Jasmine scent for a bagged tea! Average Green Tea Coloring. The taste is oddly average unlike the smell. I’m not HUGE on Jasmine teas but this one is just ok.

It’s been forever since I have had a cup of this and I did have one earlier today but my water wasn’t hot enough so I won’t rate it yet. It’s fairly good for a bagged green.

My ‘work’ tea. Drank Numi all the time at my old job. :)

For a bagged tea, this is smooth, subtle, and just jasmine-y enough to be apparent without being cloying.

This tea brought back nostalgia from holidays in Asia. This highly floral and perfumed Green tea is perfect for accompanying or following a heavy meal as it tastes very cleansing and fresh. I agree with the previous posts that it is a very ‘Chinesse Restaurant’ tea because thats what I thought as soon as I tasted this. A true good quality Jasmine tea that is definitely worth trying.

This is a good bagged tea I was lucky and got it from my cousin. I had it early as the first cup of the day and it was fine. The caffeine was low in this one.. you get a dusty veggy smell with some sweetness.. The color is green.. The flavor has a lot of the sweetness from the jasmine i believe.. as far as a Organic bagged tea goes this one is good..

Ahhh….smells wonderful! I can do this. I don’t normally like floral teas, but the taste is less flowery than the smell. Perfect!
