1000 Cranes Blend

Fruit Herbal White Blend by Teas Etc

The Story…

Nathan, who has worked with us for the past 4 years, decided to ask Nicole to marry him. It’s not that he asked but HOW he asked that makes this a “story.”

The happy couple was spending the afternoon at one of their favorite places, the Morikami Museum in Delray Beach. There is a Japanese saying that if you give a 1000 cranes and/or receive a 1000 cranes you are granted one wish. It was that day that Nathan presented Nicole a rather large box to open. Inside the box there were 999 white origami cranes that Nathan had laboriously folded 1 by 1. At the bottom was a larger, gold crane number 1000. In that gold crane was the ring which was followed by the proposal. How romantic!

Shortly thereafter, Nathan and Nicole put together a list of ingredients with special meaning and the 1000 Crane Blend was born.

I ♥ strawberries. But I haven’t had the best luck with whites – or at least not consistent luck. So I thought I’d try this as my free sample from my Teas Etc order because then I get to try something that sounds like it could be tasty but, based on my past luck, might not work out so well. In fact, I was kind of anticipating it not working out so well.

But no, I like it. The flavoring is light and blends well with the tea, creating a clean and refreshing taste. I get hints of fresh strawberries more than any of the other flavorings but the tea is stronger or at least equal to the strawberry summerness. It’s surprisingly nice. I could see myself picking up some of this. Though I doubt that it would be something I’d drink daily, I like it.

Tough time rating this.

I think that Bai Mu Dan is just not one of my favorite whites. It’s slightly…what? Vegetal? Musty, in addition to being sweet? What’s the adjective I’m looking for?

Anyway, I was still pleasantly surprised by this. I’d forgotten that it included rose petals, and experienced a minor moment of apprehension when I read the ingredient list on the cannister — rose tea is just not my favorite thing, either, and I was beginning to worry that I’d made a very strange, silly decision.

Not to worry, though; the berry taste sits first (it doesn’t scream fresh strawberry to me, but I don’t have any trouble identifying the flavor as strawberry) and the rose is actually a rather lovely complement. I can see the shreds of coconut in the leaves, but I have a difficult time detecting the note in the tea, which is sort of disappointing — I love coconut — but may be a good thing; I’m not sure whether or not the tea would have too much going on if it were more present than it is. Maybe it’s worth locking up a small amount of this with some additional coconut shavings to see what happens.

A very pretty tea with a very pretty flavor, and a nice change of pace from the solid, unflavored teas I usually drink. I’m not sure whether or not the taste would hold up to being chilled on ice, but it could be fun to try.

This is a refreshing change from the black teas I’ve been drinking all week!

I used the last of my 1oz. tin (about 2.5 heaping teaspoons in my 12oz. mug). The scent is super tangy and sweet—very “pink”. The tea itself is a pinkish amber and very “downy” because of the feathery white leaves. I’m tasting mostly rose petals and a little bit of strawberry. The coconut appears only as a hint of sweetness. The aftertaste reminds me a little of Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries® cereal!

I think I may order more of this, eventually—but not for awhile because there are so many other teas out there to try!

This is a nice, light, fruity tea. I really enjoy the combination of strawberries and roses and coconut. I think the story aptly describes how the taste of this tea “feels” – wistful, romantic, light-hearted- like a lace-trimmed valentine’s note. It smells wonderful too—floral and tangy-sweet. But, when I first received this, I overenthusiastically drank several mugs first thing in the morning—on an empty stomach—and it made me really queasy! Too much of a good thing, I guess.

This seems to settle the stomach after a heavy meal—maybe it’s the astringency of the strawberries? It’s very refreshing. The slight sweetness makes this work well as a dessert tea, also.

I really don’t like strawberries. Have y’all figured out that I’m a bit of a picky eater? Sad, but true. I must admit that I fell for the story that’s attached to this tea and that’s why I selected it as one of my free samples from Teas Etc. Yes, I am a sucker for such things.

This is a rather lovely blend. It’s nice to look at and it smells all strawberryish. It tastes like a white tea with strawberries and some other unidentifiable stuff that sort of rounds it out. How’s that for a description? I’m just not feelin’ it. I was struggling to drink it at first. There was that musty taste that I sometimes get with white teas. But as the cup cooled I started to drink it faster and faster. I think that if I were to have this again (there’s only enough of the sample left for a small cup), then I’d drop the temp to between 175 and 180. If I loved strawberries, then I think that I’d buy more of this tea. As it is it’s NE.

I selected this blend as my free sample from Teas Etc. and was very happy with the result. It’s a white tea, so the subtle flavor was to be expected, but the rose petals added a nice flowery bite, and the coconut added a sweetness to the flavor that made for a great mix of aromas and flavors that unfolds with each sip. A definite winner, with a great story that just adds to the experience.

A really good tea.
To me this is a sit and relax tea. But not a sleepy tea, although it comes off more as an herbal tea than a white tea. It’s more a thinking tea.
The citrus flavor gave me a bit of a zing and got my mind working. The citrus flavor was the more prominent flavor. There were also some less notable bright floral tastes. I can’t say too much about this one since I used only slightly less than a teaspoon for an 8 oz cup. Next time I’ll use a larger portion and steep it longer or use hotter water.
I can see this as a tea that I would drink often in the summer time.

The bottom of this bag I am finishing off has loads of strawberry bits, and my cup is a smidge pink tonight. As always a lovely light floral fruity brew with a hint of sweetness.

Love! Pure Love! Some of my favorite tea flavourings all rolled together with white tea and a romantic creation story. I even keep it in a tacho crane washi paper covered canister. <3
