Sturdy stainless steel envelops timeless Yixing clay in this practical and innovative thermal tea tumbler. The clay lining provides the tumbler with the unique ability to absorb the flavors with continued use of the same tea. Yixing clay (also known as zisha clay) is porous and will become seasoned with the tea steeped within. So we recommend these for use with one tea type – which is why they are adorned with our symbols for white, green, black or oolong tea. Comes complete with a removable stainless steel strainer for steeping on the go. Holds 12oz of tea. Not for use in microwave, dishwasher or on stovetop.
To use:
Pre-heat tumbler by filling with hot water, letting stand for several minutes and then draining. Place loose tea into tea infuser then put infuser into tumbler. Fill with hot water and steep for the time and temperature appropriate for your tea. After steeping, remove infuser basket and enjoy!
To clean, simply empty tea leaves and rinse with hot water, then air dry. Do not use soap.
Pretty, nice design, keeps tea warmer for longer than expected and yixing, so in about a year, I will have a wonderfully seasoned tea tumbler!
Note: I always have such issues with yixing because I can not decide with what I want to season them. I have several mugs and tea sets that are yixing that go widely unused for this reason, however, I think with the travel mug all will be fine since I only drink one or two teas in the morning on my daily drive to work.
I wanted to get a Yixing teapot but got this tumbler instead. It’s pretty (I got the Oolong dragon one), portable and makes a big difference when brewing tea compared to in a non-yixing clay teapot. Yes, it only holds 12oz but most Yixing teapots I’ve seen hold 6oz to 12oz anyway and you don’t have to worry about breaking this one.
