36 Tasting Notes

Pineapple Oolong from DAVIDsTEA
97

I have been meaning to try this tea for quite some time now because I really love pineapple, and I also looooove oolong. I needed a new oolong tea on my shelf because I finished my tin of Happy Kombucha (I need AT LEAST one oolong on my shelf at all times! s during my break at work this weekend and I asked for this one hot. Of course the new employee messed up my order an made it iced, but it is okay because it tasted amazing!!! It was so good that I had to go in the next day during my break at work to buy a lovely blue tin of it!!! I am glad to have this one as a part of my collection (:

Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait from DAVIDsTEA
57

One of my good friends got me a pack of this for my birthday, and if it wasn’t for her, I probably would not try this one because I am very selective of herbal teas because they are not my favourite (except for Cocomint Cream <3). The smell of this tea is very nice, I definately get the strawberries. At first sip it is very tart, I actually had to sweeten this one. I normally do not sweeten my teas, especially not herbals! Once sweetened it is pretty descent. I actually prefer this one iced. Overall this is an alright tea but I probably will not repurchase this one, but I am glad I got to try it.

Cookie Dough from DAVIDsTEA
97

Okay, I’m not going to lie. At first I was SO skeptical when I first heard about a cookie dough tea. I thought it sounded kind of gross, and I also doubted they would be able to make a tea actually taste like cookie dough. OH BOY, am I ever glad to say that I was wrong!!! This tea actually smells and tastes like cookie dough!!! And the fact that it is a white tea, I was even more skeptical because I thought it would become bitter, but I oversteeped it and it still tastes nice and sweet. This tea is definately a keeper, it is white tin worthy! Davids has done it again!!! * tears of joy *

Toasted Walnut from DAVIDsTEA
87

Green tea + coconut + pineapple = three of my favourite things. I also looove walnuts as well. It is safe to say I enjoyed this tea. I actually really really enjoyed this tea. I usually prefer my green teas plain without any other ingrediants but this is such a lovely blend. I would love to buy some for my shelf at home but my sister has deadly nut allergies and I do not want to risk it. Unfortunately I am too scared to bring home a lot of amazing nutty teas because of her allergies. I will just have to enjoy this one in store (:

Sleigh Ride from DAVIDsTEA
75

Funny story. Yesterday I was at work and I walked into the employee room for my break and I saw two DAVIDsTEA cups sitting on a table. I knew exactly who they belonged to because two co-workers of mine love tea and we have tea conversations all the time and confuse all of the other employees who do not really understand the language of tea (ie they get confused when we say words like oolong, rooibos, infuser, steep, etc). Anyways, so I was so curious to see what they were drinking so I grabbed their cups and smelled their tea to see if I could recognize what they had (and I was correct, Glitter and Gold & Forever Nuts). Yeah, I am a crazy person… no shame! So I started to crave Forever Nuts so I went to DAVIDs during my break and asked for that. The employee recomended that I try Sleigh Ride because it is quite similar to Forever Nuts so I did. I really enjoyed this tea. It was sweet and nutty (kind of like myself), and it also reminded me of a warm cup of apple cider. Yum.

Stormy Night (organic) from DAVIDsTEA

This is a tea version of hot chocolate. That is all I have to say.

Matcha Matsu from DAVIDsTEA
100
Pumpkin Chai from DAVIDsTEA
89

For my birthday, it is safe to say that all of my gifts were tea-related. One of my best friends happened to get me a collectors tin of Pumkin Chai and I am so proud to call her my best friend. I absolutely love this tea! The pumkin flavour is there. Enough said. People rave over starbucks’ pumpkin spice lattes but if those people ever put Pumpkin Chai into their tea latte, DAVIDsTEA would be their new obsession.

Cocomint Cream from DAVIDsTEA
99

I was so excited to see a new tea with coconut in it! Coconut is my most favourite flavor in the world!!! I was on my way to my part-time job and I got an email to my phone that informed me the winter 2012 collection is out and as soon as I read about Cocomint Cream I decided then and there that I would go into the mall before work and try it out.
I am not a huge fan of minty teas but this one is perfect. It tastes kind of like a candy cane which makes it perfect for the holiday season. I bought a 100g tin of this tea the other day, and I like this tea so much that I think I am going to buy a yellow tin for it (: Definately my favourite herbal tea , this will be a staple on my shelf forever and ever. I think I am going to go brew a pot right now, I am about to start my very first university essay which happens to be due tomorrow (oops!), and I really need something to calm me down and get into the writing mood. Wish me luck!

Happy Kombucha from DAVIDsTEA
95

Okay, I love eating the little pinapple pieces out of the tin.

Aside from the pineapple pieces, I love the overall flavour of this tea. Its fruityness is quite strong and powerful, but not too overpowering. And the dry smell is soooo good. One morning I accedentally left the lid open, and when I came home from school my entire kitchen smelled like this tea. It was quite exciting.

Tropicalia from DAVIDsTEA
100

Hmm… the smell of this tea sort of reminds me of Ceckmate… I guess it is the coconut. But whenever I brew tea, i like to smell the spoon after i scoop the dry leaves into the tea bag; I think the best smell is on the spoon… lol.

Anywho, I would like to start of by saying that since I love coconut and especially Pina Coladas, my expectations for this tea were so high that they were low. What I mean by this is that I didnt think this tea would match my expectations and would be a dissapointment, because I did not expect it to actually taste like pina colada. I am glad to say that this tea ACTUALLY met my expectations!!! Oh my goodness! had it iced and it had the exact aroma and flavour of pina colada. I did not expect the flavour to be that accurate! I definately tasted the coconut and pineapple, but I also got a hint of caramel. Everytime I took a sip I would turn to my friend and say “OMG this tastes AMAZING,” yeah, it was that good! I definately have to stock up on this one, I can see myself sipping this tea all year round. I cannot wait to try it hot!

Japanese Sencha (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
81

I really liked this one. I am a huge fan of green teas and this one was really good. It tasted like real green tea should, not very bitter and oceanic. I think this will be my regular green tea because the price is decent, and the taste is great (:

Honeybee from DAVIDsTEA
91

Oh my goodness! I though I would not like this tea because the dry leaf smell really throws me off. I bought it for my sister because she does adore this tea, and I asked her if i could try some because I was sort of curious. Wow! This is a goooood tea. Oh man it tastes like an upgraded version of grocery store honey lemon tea. This will definately stay in the cupboards. I bought this tea for my sister but I have a feeling I will be drinking it all myself…

Strawberry Ginger from DAVIDsTEA
9

Was not a huge fan of this tea. Tasted bitter. Followed the steeping directions perfectly, and tried it iced. It is TERRIBLE iced, for my palat anyways. I am quite pleased with the spring collection just not this one.

Paradise Found from DAVIDsTEA
80

Mmmmm this tastes just like a normal tea should. I get that hibiscus a lot and i do enjoy it. The mango is more of an after taste. To me this tastes more like a tea you would get in the grocery store, not loose leaf. Its really good but nothing memorable. I think this tea would be more appreciated by someone who is not so passionate about tea, if you know what I mean. It is pretty good but something I would serve to guests. Not bad with a little agave nectar.
update
I think I am going to have to bump up the rating a bit. I have a little sample pack of this from my online order and I decided I would put it in my Timolino travel mug today. Wow this tea smells so fruity, it really brightened up my day. Everyday I bring a different tea from my collection to school and my friends always ask to smell it. This one by far is the best smelling according to my friends.

Jolly Jellybean from DAVIDsTEA
95

Oh man did I ever think I wasnt going to like this one because I do not like jelly beans at all… I am suprized to say that I am pretty pleased with the spring 2012 collection… I didnt think I would like it but they are pretty good!
So this tea. Okay so I love coconut & hate jellybeans, lucky for me I didnt get any jellybeans in my sample pack. Oh man does this ever smell good when it is brewed. I did not expect such a nice strawberry scent. And it tastes like strawberries with a sweet hit of coconut. These flavours blend REALLY well with the red and green rooibos. Oh man its good. Strawberry is my favourite fruit and i just lovelovelove coconut. This would make a great night time tea because it is zero caffene; or just a good afternoon pick-me-up because it tastes really sweet and jolly i suppose lol. Oh no, I promised myself I would stop buying teas but I might just have to stalk up on this one… sorry mom!

Daydreamer from DAVIDsTEA
91

Mmmmm smells good. I think I will ice some later.
Anyways, I was kinda disapointed when the spring collection came as my free samples with my online order of Southern Belle (i totally forgot i ordered 100g, thank goodness I did, i love that one)!
Back to the samplers, I decided to try daydreamer first and wow Im glad I got that sampler! I lovelovelove green tea and luckily I can actually taste the green tea in this one. I actually followed the directions properly on this one (i never follow the directions), and i wish i didnt follow them. I like my tea extra steeped, especially green teas. Anyways I do enjoy this tea and it just might have a permanent spot on my shelves. (:
Ohhhhhhh the taste of greeeeen teaaaaaaa <3

Cherry Blossom from DAVIDsTEA
93

Oh this is good! Man I was nervous to try this one but now I have nothing to worry about because I think this will be a perminant tea on my shelf. Its so sweet (but not sugary) and so fruity. When I first sniffed the dry leaves it smelled strongly of cherry cough medicine. Once its brewed it has such a nice subtle cherry scent. Tastes real, not like artificial cherries! And ohhhh how it is blended with coconut (my absolute most favourite flavour in the whole entire universe) creates a balance like no other. I want to try this one iced and I hope it will have good results. ThAnK yOu DaViDsTeA! You made my life.

Alpine Punch from DAVIDsTEA
70

Mmmmmm definately tastes like hot amaretto. I dont really know what to say but I like, I like. I wish I got 100g of this instead of hot toboggan >.<

Hot Toboggan (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
3

Omg, my friend and I were so disapointed when our local DT was completely sold out of this during the winter season because we were dying to try this tea. Well I bought some online during the weekend and recieved it today and was so excited to taste it. Wow what a disapointment… It tasted more like a cinnamon bun instead of a carmel apple (BTW I totally HATE cinnamon buns). So I had such high hopes for this tea that I bought 100g… I dont know what to do with it. I am very sad now ): This tea just isnt for me. If you are they type that loves cinnamon buns and sweet sweet apples then this is the tea for you. I cant wait to bring this to the store and return it for a nice big tin of something else…(:

Genmaicha from DAVIDsTEA
79

Mmmmmmmm. The best way to drink this one is with sushi. At one point I would buy sushi and a straight green tea whenever I went to work to motivate me during the seasonal times with stressful and rude customers. This tea is great! So nice and toasty. You can definately taste the grains in this one. It cheered me up during those stressful times

Gyokuro Yamashiro from DAVIDsTEA
95

Oh my gosh what a good tea this was. So I am a huge fan of green teas and this one really did please my palate! This one tasteed so nice and smooth, it tasted sort of spinach-y with a hint of the ocean to me. It definately goes down easily. I wish it wasnt so pricy though, but it is very rare and high quality… I will stick to getting it togo instead of buying the dry leaves (:

update Okay so I just brewed a cup of normal teabag grocery store green tea and I find that it has no flavour at all. After drinking loose leaf teas the grocery store teas just cant measure up…. i swear the bag has been in this cup for a half hour and it is has nooo flavour to it! I think I will stick to davids loose leaf green teas, tently is just not working out for me….

Chocolate Rocket from DAVIDsTEA
75

Overall this tea is pretty good. I think the flavours of chocolate and rasberry goes really well in this mate. I’m not sure how energizing it is for me, I dont feel it, but as I had said before, caffeane does not have an effect on me. If this tea ends up having an affect on me maybe I will make it my moning tea, but if not than idk. This tea is okay but it doesnt really speak to me. Its just meh. I might repurchase if im in the mood for it, it does have a nice blendy flavour to it.

Jade Oolong Chai (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
96

Mmmmmm chai!!! Okay so yeah I didnt get this tea mostly because I love a guy named Jade * cough cough * nope thats not the main reason at all… (;
I find that with any sort of chai tea, the dry leaves smell so weird. And yes this tea has that weird dry leaf smell too, but I got it anyways because I loooooove chai and Jade
Anyways, once it brews it has such a pretty floral-like smell to it. And the leaves, do they ever expand! Mmm this tea has such a nice taste, sweet and spicy. Really nice flavour! After I drank half of the cup I put milk in the rest to see how it tastes, everyone reccomends it with milk! Yeah no, I had to pour the rest down the sink, sad, what a waste. I am just not a milk in the tea kind of person, I just dont enjoy it. Anyways, I will be drinking this tea straight for now on, and will probably stalk up, I only bought 50g of it. Blue oolong tin, here I come!
