Cherry Blossom from DAVIDsTEA
55

I haven’t been here for a while which I deeply regret.I’m starting off with Cherry Blossom because it seems appropriate since the lovely things are blooming like crazy around my beautiful but rainy home province.

plus : FLORAL, FLORAL FLORAL!! ( I’m a BIG fan of floral..in fact I’m the only person I know who actually likes All The Raj!)

In the pouch it smells very cherry, a little sweet and lightly dusted with coconut..every time I shake the pouch or smell it again it changes in lovely ways and makes my taste buds ache with antici…..pation.Oh and it smells expensive like you shouldn’t be able to afford it.

First taste: Gently sweet and I can tell this would be much better iced.It is also a little bitter and I didn’t take into account the green tea in it so I recommend putting it for less then the recommended time for sure!

Reminds me of: Spring and picnics under a beautifully blue sky.

Perfect for: A good Icing.Sitting on the patio with good friends and people that can get the timing juuuust right.

Final Verdict: Nice, but ultimately uninteresting.I will try it iced next time but really I prefer the smell from the pouch and wish I could bathe in it( perhaps I could make it into potpourri?? is that even possible with tea?? SERIOUSLY let me know it smells that good.)Not floral or fruity enough either. The sweetness was nice though.

Aloha Pu'erh from DAVIDsTEA
40

So this smelled like a tiny tropical paradise in the store so I promptly bought 25 grams and scurried home as fast as my legs could take me and prepared it.

It smells in the pouch very similar to many of the other pineapple teas they carry except for one thing ..this little smile at the end of each sniff of white chocolate sweetness..WHITE CHOCOLATE..and tropical paradise..I should be scared of such a bold combo but instead I am dancing inside.
and it doesn’t even smell like Pu-erh but something else…once brewed it smells richer and almost honey-like with a tiny lick of muskiness.

As my tea cools I have news! I GOT A JOB! Doing what I love helping people..I have never been this happy ..feels so damn good to be comfortable in my own skin..to feel i am a worthwhile person..that I belong and can make an impact in this world.I can’t wait to start.

Also new Tegan and Sara is dynamite! Buy now!

Aside:over.

First taste: nice..like watered down hot chocolate..in a very nice way.Sweet and dusky..the pu’erh just a sweet suggestion and the white chocolate is gently dancing with girls wearing grass skirts.Doesn’t blow my mind but it’s nice and light and warm.

Reminds me of:A shadow of hot chocolate,a light kiss of a tropical breeze.

perfect for : commitment-phobes,Pu’erh lovers(obviously),just one try.

Final verdict: Alright.Really didn’t like the sediment at the bottom.Pretty forgettable and I’ll be trading my 25 grams I think..there’s other drinks similar that are much better.

Fantasy Island from DAVIDsTEA

TEAGASM..
Speechless..

sexy, sweet, dark, fruity, sensual and even a little dusky it tastes so expensive like good cashmere or gold flaked vodka.

I remember to only put in a shallow tea spoon and steeped the shortest recommended time..it is perfect! This tea can get really bitter if even the slightest change happens in your preparation routine.

rule of thumb (I’M SOOOO TIRED OF REPEATING THIS)with DT’s Black teas with the exception of Buttered Rum and a Glitter and Gold…ALWAYS put in half the recommended amount and steep for the shortest time recommended.THEN experiment but don’t base the rating on this tea for your first bitter taste GET IN YOUR CUPBOARD AND DO IT RIGHT…and I promise you it will be the fantasy and escape it was meant to be.

Verdict (very biased)

Reminds me of : silk and lace,a perfectly velvety starless night, slow kisses after eating coconut cake and abandoned beaches where we go skinny-dipping.

Perfect for : Sophisticated gatherings, porcelain tea cups,Icing, when you are in lingerie after a tryst, comfy beds with canopies and pretty much in any castle. It is THAT fancy! Ideal for people who are aristocratic and people who like to get spoiled,gold-diggers and women of means..(you know it’s a good tea when you get full of crazy notions)Also perfect for writers looking for inspiration…a muse if you will.

Last thoughts: It is perfect when you make it perfectly and I so do love it but it is a bit of a pain in the ass.You never know when the bitterness will appear and so it’s a bit of a crap shoot..when made right and the stars are aligned this is one of DT’s BEST teas but when it’s not it tastes like expensive mud.I would love to give this a 100 but I can’t justify it since making it is so finnicky that it is more usual for me to pick something else then my 100 grams of it.I’ll go as high as ethically possible.

Vanilla Orchid from DAVIDsTEA
80

OKAY OKAY I know…MORE Vanilla..well it can’t be helped!

At first I thought Vanilla Oolong was Vanilla Orchid just with a vamped up name (they did this with chocolate orange and renamed it for Halloween and also did it to Dr.Chocolate or something similar and changed it to Spiced Carob???If you know the actual name I’d be grateful..PLEASE STOP DOING THAT DAVIDsTEA)

Off the rant path now let’s down to business.

This actually does not smell like Vanilla Oolong it smells like it’s in the same family but once removed. This smells less milky and more creamy and a little sweeter. Also the quality of the Oolong is vastly superior just by the dry smell alone it seems to have fully absorbed the vanilla and created this Vanilla Heaven..I wish I could smell like this..It is sexy but pure,Rich but attainable and smooth but not sassy.

Once steeped the Oolong takes centre stage but the vanilla is the best back-up singer not out-doing or showing off but complementing the premium Oolong..this even smells expensive( and it sooo wasn’t it was in the 2 for 5 bin I got one for myself and one for my bff Linda Irvine)

As for taste…I like this so much more then Vanilla Oolong and that drink was beautiful!I think I prefer this because it lacks the milk base but still stays creamy, sexy and smooth. It’s not quite as sweet either..more delicate and just lovely, lovely lovely!

Perfect for: late nights, people who don’t like milk bases with oolong and Vanilla but want creamy still, studying, watching marathons of a guilty pleasure show and basically any time you want to feel like you are indulging heavily without the mess or consequences.

Reminds me of: feeling rich, thick silk drapery, pretty french lacy underwear,Simone De Beauvoir,Orchids and being comfortably alone.

Last thoughts: I love this…I don’t know if I’ll buy again or not but I’m really crushing on this at the moment.I’m not an Oolong girl unfortunately so that may be the death knell of our relationship but for now it’s the most lovely tryst, affair ..passing ships in the night? If I want decadence I may just reach for this.

Vanilla Oolong from DAVIDsTEA
74

I guess this is the time of Vanilla because there has been so much tea coming out or waiting to be reviewed that uses the hell out of this most sexy of ingredients.

Dry this Oolong smells sweet, creamy and with a tiny kiss of orange to tie it all together nicely.I can’t get over how sweet this smells it’s really decadent and rich like a pudding or mousse.

Once brewed the Oolong comes out on top but the base stays ridiculously smooth and creamy.I cannot wait to try you!The liquor lies golden in my mug.

As for taste..it taste like it smells..creamy,sweet and smooth ..almost seems to have a milk like base and I think this would make an unbelievable latte if ONLY I knew how!

It’s lovely and light and just the thing for a lonely mid afternoon..at your desk.

It’s basically a non-latte latte..if that makes any sense.

This drink is perfect for : Oolong lovers,Vanilla lovers and lazy latte lovers that want similar taste with little to no effort. It is also for people who want a superb latte and are damn good at making them. Also perfect for people who want to get into not sweetening their tea since this one needs no such thing.KEEP ALL SWEETENETS AWAY..it’s perfectly sweet on it’s own.
This drink is not for people who don’t like milky tastes and aren’t fans of vanilla or Oolong however it may be a game changer for people just beginning experimenting with Oolong since it’s so light and flavorful and full of potential.

I have a lot of this ..not sure if I will buy more..but for right now this drink is perfect.

Reminds me of :cream, lattes, vanilla pudding, spring time, lovely velvet draped casually across across a couch, soft music, white flowers, bars of gold and sweet light kisses.

Toasted Walnut from DAVIDsTEA
58

I just wrote a long review and it disappeared and it was pretty brilliant isn’t that INFURIATING? EXPLETIVE EXPLETIVE etc..

Short version..which goes against every fibre in my being..

Smells: nutty,slightly fruity,warming,green tea
Taste:Deep,woody,warming,slight bitterness,very nutty..needs a straightjacket
Do I like it:I want to but I think I steeped it a tad too long ..the potential is there and there will be more experimentation!
Who would like it:once bitterness is no longer a factor anyone wanting to expand their tea horizons and start the lovely foray into Green tea this is a great start..this would also be perfect on the ski slope in a Thermos ..and on any cold cold day.
After thoughts:
I will rate this on potential and go cry about my lovely verbose and sexy review getting vaporized.

Cocomint Cream from DAVIDsTEA
56

I love mint. I was kind of confused about this tea but it smells right and I hope it taste as right too.I love all the ingredients but together ..wow we will see.

I’m really hoping for a tea slam-dunk my last 2 were not that worthy of taking up permanent residence in my tea cupboard and being restocked again and again.
I need a winner.

Once steeped the mint tones down a bit and this sweet coconut is holding it’s hand.I don’t smell apple but there is a light fruity kick that piggybacks the rest.it smells minty but sexy fresh but rich.

Okay so the taste is heavy on the mint and I definitely taste the cream.
It is a combination I’ve never tried before……hmm I’m not sure what to think I’m quite confounded..I find it hard to give you a worthy review so I think I’m going to rate it but go back to the drawing board and brew more..

Pure Vanilla (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
59

Who doesn’t love vanilla? It is in almost every sweet food we love and the smell is the go to aroma for most people when choosing their own personal scent. Never have a I heard a disparaging remark about this lovely sexy thing.

Now Rooibos is not a main thing for most people I did not even register it as drinkable until my buff introduced me to it only a few years ago and I’ve been 30 years on this earth !drinking tea all that time!

Now this smells like straight up sexy sweet vanilla no real hint of rooibos until brewed and steeped. I of course overloaded my perfect DAVIDsTEA tea spoon and steeped 7 minutes for full body and flavour.I’ve never been a fan of straight rooibos the taste is not something I look forward to but this smells nice…I can tell its a rooibos but it doesn’t have that dry muddy smell it’s been liberated by the vanilla and they as ingredients complement each other nicely. The perfect couple? We shall see.

The taste is surprising in that it tastes like rooibos but for once I like it.it doesn’t feel heavy or earthy just warming and instead of being bitterness there is a sweetness at the end of every sip.there is also a floral kiss that is nice and subtle.

This tea is for you if you love rooibos and it is a great drink to start someone off with their rooibos discovering journey.I’m going to give this to my bff Linda Irvine since there is no bigger rooibos lover.I do feel conflicted about it though which surprises me even more!

I’m not going to buy more but I’ll never turn down a glass of it!

Cookie Dough from DAVIDsTEA
63

So I have literally been dying to try this tea because when I was little I remember the texture and taste of the dough left over from my mother’s baking..I would roll it into balls and drop them on my tongue the texture and sweetness I can still remember to this day and every time I am near baking of any kind I salivate in remembrance.

Of course dry it smells nothing like dough which worries me ..smells chocolaty sweet but has no resemblance to what my memory possesses.

I did a full 7 minute steep so full flavour should be the forecast.

Once steeped it smells smells sweet and malty bright notes of sweetness fill the air and the liquor in my glass mug is honey like with sediment. As it cools the aroma becomes more and more like cookie dough imagine my nostalgic delight! Not a perfect representation but it does the job nicely.

As for taste…..so light..creamy and sweet..it is like Buttercream but with less heaviness..I think this would be a lovely iced tea..I do wish it was heavier but it is lovely.

This tea is for people who crave sweet tea but don’t want to add sweetener. It is also for people who loved Buttercream.

Not sure if I will buy more I need to experiment with making it more everything..sweeter…maltier and heavier.

Sleigh Ride from DAVIDsTEA

Banana Dream Pie (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
35

This tea smells like the freshest moistest dark chocolate pieces with banana hidden inside. Can’t wait to try it.It is sexy dark and silky smelling.

I’m not usually a fan of banana in my tea but the chocolate is selling me hard on it being a delightful addition.

As for taste it is chocolate banana with a astringent black tea base.
Once steeped it gets dark liquor wise and the aroma is even more beguiling.

I’m not sure I love it it seems pretty bitter ( like dark chocolate we which I’m not a fan of).

If you don’t like dark chocolate you will dislike this tea a great deal.
If you like it then you’ll love this.

Ceylon Star from DAVIDsTEA

First off Pretty Pretty name.OH and WHITE CHOCOLATE ARE YOU KIDDING ME….drool drool drool

Star anise has been a real star in a few DAVIDsTEA concoctions lately maybe a bit of a bromance going on.

Dry it smells chocolatey and deeply sensual with notes of cocoa and star anise
Ooohh I am dying to tie you up and spank you my dear…yes I said it my tea depravity knows no bounds.

Steeped it smells sweet and delicate with a lovely spicy kiss and chocolate whispers…oh my.

As for taste it is silky sweet and much more delicate and then I was anticipating a very light spiciness lingers on the tongue and there is definitely a nudge of licorice that stays on my taste buds long after the tea is gone.I steeped for 7 minutes and put in the recommended amount and it did not get bitter so that’s a first with DAVIDsTEA black teas..an improvement.

This tea is perfect for cold wet and dark January days and late nights in summer before a night out or after.it is gentle enough for the licorice shy and noticeable enough for licorice tea lovers like myself.I’m not in love but it has my attention and we may be sending shy glances to each other as 2013 moves on.

Merry Cranberry from DAVIDsTEA
52

I have neglected my beloved steepster for far too long!
I am back and wish you all a wickedly good new year and hope you got spoiled with tea for Christmas.

I’m starting with an herbal for 2013 still from my obsessive relationship with davidstea ….oh my love may we never be parted.

Soooo merry cranberry dry smells like those dried fruit bars like healthy fruit roll ups!

I ate a dried cranberry from the tin and it was nice as cranberries usually are( better then raisins).
As per my habit with fruity teasI steeped longer and put more in ….full flavour or get off my boat…or is it bus?

Once steeped just smells like tea..smells like I may have accidentally made it bitter oh well first flop of 2013 ? We will see.

As for taste it is actually nice it has a fruity fuzzy robe on for sure but it’s the black tea that centres it.it has a nice tartness that overshadows any bitterness and I think it would work with a good icing in the summer.it is no Paradise Found but its decent in it’s own right it’s what I wished Pu’erh would taste more like less earth dirty and more rich dark tea leaves steeped in history.

I will definitely be trying it again but I am rating it nonetheless that’s how I roll.

Cheers my tea loving friends drink deep and well and never stop :-)

Blazing Strawberries from DAVIDsTEA
12

Bizarre combinations sometimes completely win me over I’m looking at you Strawberry Ginger and you Exotica..(2 of my absolute faves)I even like Splash!I am not a big fan of ginger but apparently it can actually be nice when balanced off other flavors.

The pouch smells kind of like a very old fruit-rollup with almost a tang of something licorice like.

Once brewed it is totally clear with a slight gold finish..the smell of strawberry is totally there and something else that I can’t place at the moment it’s also got kind of a syrupy or honey vibe.

The taste is very very light wasn’t that flavorful there’s no spice to it..I can see the potential perhaps..I will try again but put way more in then I originally did ..I always heap the perfect spoonful in and steep fully so it amazes me how weak this tastes..it’s like a very very very watered-down impression of a photograph of DT’s Exotica..It’s basically hot water with an aftertaste..

Will try again..but I’m still rating it if it improves I will do my duty..I wanted to do a “if you like this then you’ll love this” type of thing but it seems that all I can recommend is Exotica<3.

Countess of Seville (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
71

EVERYONE knows that I am obsessed with DT’s various renditions of Earl Grey and other classic teas. They do SUCH a profoundly good job it would soften the hardest of hearts and make the most particular tea lover reconsider their good taste.Yes they are THAT good.

This tea smells like a lovely earl grey profile but it’s a green tea and and the orange oil and bergamot just burst with a freshness and lightness that doesn’t smell usual or predictable. It’s pretty similar in smell to the Earl of Lemon just not as citrusy and not as deep and sexy as the Cream of Earl grey.It smells just lovely.

As for taste it’s nice..not mind-blowing like other earl grey types I’ve tried but good. It’s perfect for people that want something classic like an earl grey that usually only exists in a black tea to be a green tea instead.I think this would also be the most able to take a good icing out of all the other earl greys..it’s just light enough.

Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait from DAVIDsTEA

Gold Rush (organic) from DAVIDsTEA

It’s lovely and golden outside with the sun slivering down into the sharp chilliness of the morning and I want something sweet and sexy.

This seemed the fine choice with golden mulberries and coconut…less a tea and more a decadent dessert. It smells almost buttery.

Once brewed it smells more like tea.It smells sweetly with the edge of coconut and the slight earthy tone of the white silver needles.

As for taste it is smooth and velvety with a sweet creaminess. The aftertaste brings out the coconut and it melts like butter on my tongue.

It’s nice and light.it doesn’t wow me which surprises me with it’s sexy texture but it does leave a sourness that seems out of place .It’s nice and all but I’m not sure I’m going to finish this 50grams the idea just tires me out.Makes me sad!

Midsummer Night's Dream from DAVIDsTEA

Big Apple from DAVIDsTEA
73

The last little while has been tough on my United States neighbor..including the iconic city of New York or the “Big Apple” as we like to call it.
this is my own little way of showing support to New Yorkers and other east Coasters.
I am raising a steaming cup of tea named in honor of New York in a toast to those struggling after the hurricane Sandy devastation.

I hope all of you come out of this safe and sound.

In the pouch this tea smells fresh like green apple candy also a little nutty and a tad earthy.
Once brewed it gets more rich….really warm and inviting the apple making my mouth seriously water.
I put more in and steeped longer to get more flavor from the white tea not realizing it had green tea in it as well so I am hoping it won’t become bitter.
Oh but it does smell amazing. It’s a perfect contrast to what’s going on outside.

It tastes like warm days wrapped in perfectly comfortable sweaters as rain and snow fall outside.
It has a little tartness that is just lovely and balanced with the warming effect of the tea.
It’s also refreshing and light (iced is on my mind soon!)

I did steep too long so it was a tad bitter but unlike lesser teas it did not ruin it the loveliness still comes through.

I don’t believe this will be a staple but I sure as hell will enjoy it while I have it!
