433 Tasting Notes
Finishing this box up slowly but the end is near! Another blend I’ve drunk for years but won’t be repurchasing after this last bit is gone. The magic has worn off!
The citrus (lime) in this reminds me of cleaning products, which doesn’t do much for the appeal of this tea. Not much to write about in the taste department either, unfortunately. Last bag of this (from a variety pack), and I won’t be repurchasing!
I still don’t have much to say about this blend in general, but today it made for a decent morning cup of tea so I was pleasantly surprised. I’m completely exhausted after waking up almost an hour early thanks to daylight savings (bitter) so maybe my taste buds weren’t awake yet either.

It makes me sad that I’m still the only one on here who has tried this (unless some of y’all are drinking it and just haven’t reviewed it yet—?)! It’s so full of awesome spicy chai goodness, I just want to spread the love! I had it again this past weekend at my favourite local restaurant (The Walnut Cafe in Boulder, Colorado)… every time I eat there, I tell myself, “okay, you don’t need a chai—don’t order the chai!” but then I do. Every time. I just can’t help it! I haven’t yet let myself buy the concentrate to keep at home because A) it’s pricy and B) the last thing I need is complete access to chai any time of day or night. I’ll gain 25 pounds in no time! ;)
When I noticed this tea was getting harder to find in my area, I bought a couple of boxes. Not too long after that the magic kind of faded and I just don’t love this tea that much any more. I still enjoy it when I’m in the mood for a very “fruity” tea but honestly that’s not very frequently. There’s nothing wrong with this blend, per se, but I think my tastes have just changed over the last couple of years.
I pulled this out today and noticed that I still have quite a bit to get through so I might donate it to work so that I get through it a bit faster than just drinking it all by myself. I accidently steeped it a tad too long, but it didn’t get bitter so that was a nice bonus! This blend definitely makes me think of summer and it’s in the 60s today so it was a good match. :)

I chose this as my follow-up cup of tea to the Festivus Chai I had this morning. I drank it immediately afterward, and the spices in Eggnogg’n go nicely with the concentrate. Then again this tea always tastes good to me! It’s one of my faves on any given day.
I brought some of this to work today since it needs to be used up within 3 weeks of opening the concentrate… it’s definitely not as good microwaved as it is when it’s heated slowly on the stovetop. It was a bit heavy for me first thing in the morning (the chocolate did it in as far as that goes). That’s why I usually don’t buy concentrates—I can’t use them up in time and they don’t taste as good when hastily made in the work microwave! I would love it if this came in a smaller container or if I could split it with someone! Still, it was a nice treat for a Thursday.
Getting down to the last handful of bags of this blend, and it’s making me sad! I have to be in the right mood for it, but when I am it really hits the spot. Maybe I’ll write a letter to the people at Celestial Seasonings and ask if there’s a chance in hell they’ll ever bring it back… it’s really the only tea of theirs I’ve ever liked enough to repurchase (okay, besides Tension Tamer, but I don’t drink that for the taste!). This morning’s cup was lovely!
I have had this a couple of times and I prefer it over the Black Thai tea latte. I’m not huge on syrups in my tea, so generally when I get a latte I just get the skim or soy milk and skip the sugary syrup. I’ll have to try this blend with just milk added next time. The oolong isn’t very strong so maybe I’ll be able to taste it more without syrup.
Thought I would try something a bit bland after my sugary chai mix first cup of the day. This fits… still has a slightly vanilla flavour so as not to clash with the chai aftertaste, but not too flavourful. Boring but appropriate, if that makes any sense!

Tried this powdered mix for the first time today. It got my expectations up a bit since it was called “spiced” chai, but there were really no spices to speak of. Just a pretty standard overly-sweet, slightly creamy powdered chai. Not bad for a “just add water” mix, but I have definitely had better. The Big Train site says this chai is award-winning, but honestly the Trader Joe’s mix (the old formula that they don’t make any more) is way better. Still, I was impressed by the nutritional info… most mixes are higher-calorie or higher in sugar.
FRIDAY CHAI. My favourite time of the week! This one tasted particularly good… the Starbucks I got it at is pretty insane, customer volume-wise, so I usually avoid going there, but considering that the last three I got there all tasted pretty amazing (and were piping hot), I might have to make that my regular location for chai!
I have this in the bagged version (not sure I said that in my last review), and as I’ve stated before it’s normally not my favourite blend. For some reason today, it tastes more smooth than usual. I did steep it for a fairly short time so maybe that helps take it down a notch. It’s actually pretty pleasant for my very chilly am first cup of the day. I think it’s the smoky clove note that usually stands out much more, but it’s not too bad today with the shorter brew time.

So, I might or might not have gone back and bought more of this right after my last little post a couple of months ago. I am well-stocked for the moment, which is a lovely feeling. When I’m in the mood for this tea, I just drink it instead of feeling like I need to hoard it. I even brought some just to leave at work! Ahhhh.
Anyway, another delicious cup of this was had today, and well enjoyed. Hoorah!
